-Acting President, Rupiah Banda, has advised the MMD on the Copperbelt to base campaign for on truth in during the run up to the October 30, Presidential election.

Mr Banda said this when he arrived this morning at the Ndola International Airport on his way to Chililabombwe where he is expected among hundreds of Zambian soccer fans at this afternoon Zambia-Togo World Cup qualifier.

“We should not tell people lies, tell them the truth, projects that we have embarked on are their for them to see, lets campaign gently, humbly and persistently,” he advised.

ZANIS Sports staffer, Penlop Chansa, reports from Ndola that Mr Banda said the MMD has a huge task of ensuring it emerges victor of the election.

He advised the party to focus the energy at regaining support from the people of the Copperbelt province in line with late President Mwanawasa’s wish.

“Our late President (Dr Levy Patrick Mwanawasa) had always told me how much he wanted to win back the Copperbelt Province,” he said.

Mr Banda also wmphasised the need for members of the paty to sustain the unity in the MMD.

And speaking earlier, MMD Provincial Chairman, Joseph Chilambwe, said Mr Banda was the only capable leader to lead the nation until the 2011 elections.

The Acting President this  afternoon officiated at the Zambia vs Togo match  at Chililabombwe’s Konkola stadium.

Striker Felix Katongo’s thunderbolt kick in the 32 minute brightened Zambia’s chances of qualifying to the 2010 World Cup Africa will host in South Africa.

Felix, young brother to Zambia’s skipper Christopher, utilised the scoring opportunity with a thunderbolt kick out side the box into Togolese net to send the crowd including Acting President Rupiah Banda into ululation.

Felix’s goal puts the Chipolopolo boys back in the saddle of qualifying leading the group with seven points with group leaders Swaziland in second position with four points.

Playing without their skipper and England based stiker Emmanuel Adebuyor, the Hawks of Togo where a shadow of themselves when the allowed the Chipolopolos to enmjoy ball possession and goal attempts.

Zambia gave a message to the visitors through left wing striker Rainford Kalaba in the 17 th minute when he perfectly passed on his stylish and perfect kick to Felix who headed out side the box.

Kalaba’s perfect pass in the 19 th minute to king pin striker Collins Mbesuma failed to yeild results when he (Mbesuma) headed the lover the bar with a keeper to beat.

The match was televised on multi choice’s Super Sport channel 3 across the continent.

  1. I AGREED WITH RB. THE TRUTH IS THAT THE SOCIAL SERVICES ARE NOT BEING PROVIDED FOR THE POOR PEOPLE WHO ARE VOICELESS. THE ROADS IN NDOLA LUBUTO GOING TO LUBUTO WEST FOR EXAMPLE TURN INTO LAKES IFISHBA WITH FISH. BA MIN BUS DRIVER WILL BEAR ME WITNESS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE MAJORITY OF ZAMBIAN PEOPLE HAVE NO ACCESS TO INTERNET FOR YOU TO HEAR THEIR CONCERNS. ALL THERE WORRIED ABOUT ARE BASICS. IN SUMMARY ECONOMY IS IMPROVED BUT FOR SOCIAL SERVICES LIKE ROADS, HOUSING IS A BIG PROBLEM SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS GOVERNMENT OFFICES ARE STILL BAD WITH NO PROPER TYPE WRITER FOR IMPORTANT NATIONAL WORK1 VIVA SATA !

  2. enough of MMD do you honestly expect dudes like vernon to tell the truth?
The Jackals,Hyenas and wolves are back and this time the pretty hungry….

  3. I totally agree with RB.
Than, RB, is a mature leader.
He is not just a mere noise maker.
When he talks, it makes sense.
When there is nothing to say, he does not open his mouth, no need!
    He is a sober leader.
    He will win the elections

  4. if we let these clowns run the country? This idea of getting retired dudes to run the the country is quite sickening i hope ba Sata and HH come up with something sensible.

  5. Yes these chaps should tell the truth like ….1)”they will increase salaries for constitutional office holders” 2)”they will forgive the so called plunderers” 3)…”Xavier Cungu will be allowed to walk freely the streets of Lusaka.. 4)”they will disband the taskforce against corruption” 5)”..they will close down businesses of those in the opposition”
RB what is your plan for ZAMBIA??? Dont just preach about unity and continuation of LPMs legacy..Pliz tell what you have in store for Zambians and how you are going to execute your programs.

  6. Bt ur tokin as if u dnt belong to MMD.i rili think he has no desire to b presido, why didnt he cntest al these yrz he has bn in politics?pliz lets vote them ot..

  7. When it is time to lead a country, only leaders will lead.
Others will strugle, insult, shout etc. but the one who is a leader will go ahead and lead.
Some people worked very hard for “Third Term” in 2001, but when it came to the leader for the moment, Mwanawasa, he was followed up where he was peacefully minding his own business.
Again in 2006, some of those same people campaigned their lungs out promissing everybody everything in 90 days, but they are still strugling.
Again a leader of the moment, RB, was followed up where he was busy chilling with his family.
You see, the bible also says the battle is not to the strong, the swift, the mighty, etc. but time and chance happen to all.

  8. Almost all the chiefs are behind RB. I can assure you this time is for RB. That means the village power is behind RB, and it will be unwise for any politician to underate the ‘power of the village’.
If some politicians thing that a vote coming from a man who drives a benz or volvo, or jaguar in town is more important than a vote from a villager who runs away when he says a car, is mistaken greatly because ECZ knows no person but vote.
RB will get it, there is little you can do, but of course dont give up. Life is about attempting, and attempting for as long as you are not yet sure whether you are tired or not, keep on. But if you continue enjoying to tear and split your volts in town, Oh!

  9. If there is someone I would not want to Rule Zambia is SATA.
But what can I do, with RB being a lame duck, and HH not being Accepted Country wide. Looks like Sata after all may end up being my President..I hope it wont get any worse..right, bearing in Mind LPM was not at full capacity. Maybe SATA will see sense and try to create legacy exceeding that of all previous Presidents…Then I stop worrying..
    Sata is President

  10. #37. Insight,
That same legacy message is his advantage, among others.
That legacy even the opposition are desiring it, but it is not their advantage at this time; it is in RB’s favour.
So his talk about legacy of great value to him and his party, this is true, i hope you know.
Even PF’s sata is now saying “I am the one who understood the vision better because we met for 2 hours. I will biuld on his legacy.”
so dont underate legacy, but we all know that this legacy issue favours MMD more than any other party.
    So beware of legacy message!

  11. #12 HK…iv just copied and pasted below bit. and pieces of what SATA said in todays POST

“When he was at NAMBOARD, he never employed anybody except people from Chipata. Rupiah Banda is a known tribalist and his tribalism is so cheap because he even discriminated against the people from Katete, Nyimba and Petauke. As far as he is concerned, they are supposed to be led,” Sata said.
“Rupiah was born in Southern Rhodesia. He’s not brave enough. He’s never come out in the open to say he has come out of UNIP. President Mwanawasa once said that Professor (Clive) Chirwa should start from the branch; which branch is he Vice-President Banda coming from?….”

  12. cont…#16

He also said political parties and individuals who were questioning his health status were just scared of him.

“Rupiah Banda is older than me. I’m challenging all the political party presidents that we go and test for three things, HIV, Kaposi Sarcoma and let them examine our hearts,” said Sata.

And speaking on Sky FM Radio in Monze, Sata said there was need for interaction and exchange of ideas between the leadership of UPND and PF.

  13. #17, “..President Mwanawasa once said that Professor (Clive) Chirwa should start from the branch; which branch is he Vice-President Banda coming from?….”

So who is to blame for RB becoming president?

  14. Walikwata amano DON-chi-chi. Yes let them tell the truth so that they can expose themselves about what you said in # 9

  15. I doubt if there is any truth tht cn evn cum ot wen ur cmpaign pipo ar crooks,vj,chitala.undecided tembo..teta sabailaa na mulongoti..if thy ever tel 1 truth, thy wil increase their losing margin..

  16. The man is being honest the programmes are there they take a while and not 90 days as stated by some of us. You can not promise more than you have set out to do that will be for people who are desparate to be president.

  17. PEASE ME BANTU HOW CAN YOU HONESTLY SUPPORT RB WITH ALL THE CROOCKS AROUND HIM. ANYWAY YOU ARE USED TO SUFFERING, I WONDER IF AT ALL YOU USE YOUR HEADS TO THINK

  18. If anyone has Sata’s or HH’s cell number please email it to me on this blog. Those two need to get off their horses and merge. They can’t afford to lose this time around. Sata can pick it up now and HH in 2011. Otherwise I doubt if Sata will be in one piece in 2011. This could be his last chance to show us what he’s made up of.

  19. Zambians did you hear that `MMD cadres can you tell the truth` this straight away tells me that they (MMD) never told the truth during campaigns, for your benefit LPM was just fulfilling what FTJ had started. So its Sata for now to perve way for HH.

  20. Felow blogers..wat do u tink of prof chirwa’s desire to contest presido in 2011 and was his joining MMD the ryt decision?ADVISE

  21. Associate man, prof Chirwa saw the gap in MMD, he was too fast for the party. I for 1 think, its will be a better challege for him to stand in 2011 on any opposition party, for by then MMD would be going down nicely like UNIP did.

  22. I REALLY LIKE THIS! SO RB IS KIND OF A PSYCHOLOGIST,HE TALKS ABOUT CAMPAIGNING ON THE TRUTH IN MMD PARTY,AND ALMOST EVERYONE IS ALREADY HOODWINKED?WHAT TRUTH CAN COME OUT OF MWAANGA,MULONGOTI,CHITALA AND TETAMASHIMBA?NOW I SEE WHY SOMEONE USED TO CALLS US”STUPID ZAMBIANS”,AND ANOTHER SAID ‘MMD CAN RULE FOR 50 YEARS’,YET ANOTHER 2 YEARS AGO SAID,’ZAMBIANS EASILY FORGET’

  23. the thing is these pipo pretend to be on our side when they are campaigning and when they get wat they want they leave us suffering…. We jst have a banch of crooks, wat happened to one zambia one nation,
Personally i feel we have a banch of liers rulling us and its simply not fair,
Lets pray for our nation we need peace

  24. RB brings a new aspect to zambian politics.. politics of issues and not individuals. Sata HH et al. have been quick to slur non-nicities abt RB and how he is old, tribal, incompetent, out of the loop, unip.. you name it, but the man (RB) has been cool and calm and not reacted to their taunts. instead he has focoused and continued with his job and credit to the man that is sumn we lacking in Zed politics. let us focus on the party, the policies and not individuals. RB is not bigger than MMD or Zed and he isnt acting as though he is.

  25. What issues my foot? The only issue is to keep on singing that we continue with Levy’s legacy. We want him to articulate real issues on how he is going to solve issues on UNZA,policies and mechanisim of tackling povety levels, industrialisation, job creation, upgrading of health facilities, economic empowerment of citizens ect.RB SHOULD NOT HIDE UNDER LPM’S SHADOW BUT COME FORTH WITH HIS PROGRAMMES.

  26. Its proberly possible am not voting for RB on the 30th. But its hard to bring in new polices in terms of Development when the person you were following passes on.

To my knowleage RB will only be finishing what Levy left.(thats if he gets many votes minus mine ofcourse)

ALL the BEST ba Hon Lubinda why havent you been picking my phone calls?

ONE LOVE AND FOR LOVE WE LIVE

  27. THE ONLY LEGACY LEFT BY LPM WAS THAT OF ‘FAMILY TREE’. HOW CAN ZAMBIANS FORGET SO QUICKLY. NOW, RB WANTS TO PERPETUATE THAT LEGACY. WHAT HOPE DO WE HAVE FOR THEFUTURE?
