Faz vice president Boniface Mwamelo has quit as executive committee member. Mwamelo, one of Kalusha  Bwalya’s trusted aides,  quits just a month after the executive survived a contentious no-confidence vote on the eve of the Faz annual general meeting held on April 30 in Kabwe.

“I will be announcing my formal resignation from Faz on Thursday. Will advise venue tomorrow (Wednesday),” Mwamelo told LT sports this evening.

Mwamelo refused to give any further details.

Mwamelo was elected together with Kalusha in 2008.

He was one of five original executive committee members to remaining after four other members quit in October triggering a period of discontent across Zambia’s football landscape.

He was elevated to Faz vice president following the resignation of his predecessor Emmanuel Munaile in October.

Munaile quit together with ex-executive committee members Pivoty Simwanza, Violet Bwalya and Henschel Chitembeya.

Those left standing together with Kalusha are Masha Chilemena, Keegan Chipango and Lenny Nkhuwa, the latter a executive club member of Faz Division 1 north team Nkwiza with Mwamelo.

  1. It is surprising that a person of Mwamelo’s calibre could wait this long to leave the enstranged Self Styled FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya. Can we see sanity in our Executive please. Marsha Chilemena what have you been given to remain hanging with this man?

  2. What could be a problem at FAZ? Is it true that Kalusha has cramped on the loop holes of stealing at FAZ and everyone seems very sad that they cannot reap from FAZ hence the resignations? Zambia just won a very good 3 to 0 game, what happened? Anyway, after all even the country politically does not have good leadership, why should we expect miracles at FAZ?

  3. Interesting. But wait a minute—-Is this the guy who coerced Mzbuka united to withdraw the no- confidence motion from the agenda 2 days before the FAZ agm a month ago? We’ll wait for THURSDAY before saying any more.

  4. The bells they are tolling ,cannot delay the inevitable its a matter of time before full exposure of goings on in FAZ and the big brother FIFA.

  5. We keep our fingers crossed! Bravo 4yo integrit. Its human 2let go of wrongs b free, & 4give u bro! Rb may u take a leaf 4rm dis event. Kalu is goin or camin? Vote Pf 2kik out corruption out zed

  6. Quitters never wins, Winners never quit. That is the great Kalu. An Easterner in Bulangililo wrote at his House; Jealousy Down, Chita nawe.

  7. Quiters quit, winners wins wrote one Zulu from the streets of petauke…lol.Ok serously there volumes. There must be a lot of fishy activities going on in Faz let us wait and see.

  9. Mwamelo can you please stop wasting everybody’s time, you stuck with galu, hoping for bread-crumbs to come your way, alas!! This is what is classically called “missing the boat!” Your spineless resignation would have had more of an impact when the others did, your effort is to say the in the least, “limp!”

  10. Hold your fire, Boniface has just posted this on facebook: Bourne Mwamelo
Compatriots, I probably acted hastly without adequate consultations following some frustrations in execution of our vision. The president has come to the rescue and promised to deal with the matter administratively. I therefore re affirm my commitment to the cause and vision of this Executive to ensure we successfully deliver on all our milestones. Eyes on the ball. 2 hours ago.

  11. Kalos2121, my honest view is a reflection of your wonderings. FAZ for the first time last financial year recorded a budget surplus of about 3.6 billion kwacha. Financial achievement in an organisation even tops all aspects on the Balanced Scorecarding System; this has never happenned in FAZ history. Kalu is a disciplinarian and does not condone financial misapropriation- ask his brothers Joe or Chongo; or his sisters. The Zambian system of ubomba mwibala alya mwibala doesnt apply to him; and for that he gets my thumbs up. This guy will filter all parasites from FAZ. No wonder his admin cant synchronise with RBs. We are now rubbing shoulders with Sepp Blatter! Go Kalu!!!

  12. Let him go who cares. Kalu go on wth ur leadership styles. U ve sealed loop holes for stealing thats why ba mulalansala are quiting. U suffered enough when u played and now u want to make players happy and not officials. Pipo an eye opener, have ever heard of a player complaining about money from the time Kalu got into power? NO. He makes them happy and for the first time in Zam football we ve seen coaches sitting down and share which player goes to either under 23 or senior team. Previously we used to beg for the them.

  13. FAZ has no single clue how to manage football… to this date you only manage to attract jilijili drinkers to the stands punk a-s-s failures

  14. How does the media write an entire article based purely on a favebook page statement. If they did their job they wouldve investigated firther to see that in fact he has NOT quit!!! The only losers here are the media….like vultures waiting for something bad to happen so they can pounce. Disgusting I say. Do your jobs properly and do some investigation before you write a story!

  15. i cant believe it!! if by any mistake he has resigned, the SIMATA SIMATA and KAMANGA find FORENSIC AUDITORS to audit financials for these guys. i can assure that plunder is there!

  16. the purge continues and whatever the reason for mwamelo’s resignation, the purification continues… like father like son. did i not hear one SB saying no investigation into the world cup corruption allegations? who are we in zambia to think we can clean FAZ? leave it be. a pit latrine will always be just that… a pit latrine!

  17. Something is surely wrong in FAZ. Anyway, regardless of the time this executive will leave office, Kalu & team will pay the price. “Mulandu suwola”. We are patiently waiting and lets wait n seeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. You have to leave it to gullible Zambians to believe that a p.i.s.s.head like Kalusha can conduct anything resembling inspirational leadership of any sort. You bet the same people who are claiming Galu is doing a good job are the same ones who claimed Chiluba “must be allowed another term to finish his projects”, projects only Mobutu Sese Seko in Kleptomania could understand.

  19. My heart skips 9 beats looking at the levelz of brain-washing Kalu haz done to some people. For once and for the sake of the good game I thought we had agreed to disagree over the FAZ embroglio and moved on.

  20. This is when he has mobilized his senses. I wonder if any smart person can work with Kalu. Perhaps Kalusha suffers from an inferiority complex because of his low level of income and education that is wht the guy is so arrogant.

  21. Now that Mwamelo haz rescinded hiz decizion to rezign, how do thoze Kalusha die hardz feel after pouring so much scorn on the man?

  22. Where I come from there is a saying that goes”Pafunda pafunda panapaisa galu kuli fisi”meaning the warmth of the fire place led to the death of the dog.Indeed it is too late you cannot compete with Kalu boss! Kalu is at another level and you thought it will be easy for you to play footbal politics with the 1988 Africa Footballer of the Year. Mwahepa saana. Is the president living in Zambia? He seats on FAZ,CAF,FIFA that is to say Zambia,Africa and the World, how about you boss! Nkwiza!
    Go kalu go

    • *25 with all due respect you really sound dull. What has my sitting on FAZ,FIFA,CAF got to do with anything? I dont have any administrative capabilities period. Neither does Simataa but any man can vouch for Kamanga any day! FIFA IS ADMINISTRATIVELY AND ETHICALLY bankrupt as any institution can ever be.

  23. if what @the only thing living has written is true.. then again we are experiencing true FIFA mode of operating…. mazabuka guys withdrew, mwamelo has recanted (rescinded) his earlier WISH to resign JUST LIKE at FIFA where allegations fly left right and centre but when they get close to blatter, they fizzle out and die… then the man asks “crisis, what crisis?” and the rest of us respond, “oh, sorry, we thought…..”

  24. Hi guys please check out on fazfootball.com and hear what mwamelo has said let me just quote part of his statement :Following my posting on social media announcing my resignation as Vice President yesterday, I am pleased to state that that hastily and inopportune pronouncement is reversed and set aside. I continue as Vice President of the Football Association of Zambia and remain committed to the President, Executive Committee and our vision as set out.So what do make of this.

  25. Zambia thrives in destroying her own achievers! Let us please support FAZ and destroy the spirit of disunity being agitated by Simaata, Kamanga, NSCZ and other opportunists. They all in theory “know” how best football can be run but like the loudest fan who shouts from the terraces as to how Kalusha could dribble and score but if put on the field themselves, they could hardly kick a ball! Many critics of FAZ are like that worse for them it is for personal gain they need than for the good of the game. For definitely, administratively wise, they would change nearly nothing from what is going on now! All they want is to destroy Kalu and step in!

  26. @27 there was a knife on his back as he spoke and his family had not even had lunch… for fear of his life. he thinks all was normal when …”hastily and inopportune pronouncement….” was made. pliz do not insult our collective kanongobility… just tell us the truth (our truth), what happened… is it Mazabuka United once again for the second time?

  27. It’s actually a great and useful piece of info. I’m glad that you just shared this useful info with us. Please keep us informed like this. Thank you for sharing.
