The Under-23 left Lusaka for the Copperbelt on Monday to prepare for what should be Lucky Msiska’s last stand as the teams coach while a former Power Dynamos player made a high profile debut as trainer on Sunday.
Trailing 3-0 from their Olympic football tournament qualifier first leg away to Algeria a fortnight ago and under pressure to win, Msiska slipped into Kitwe with his team early on Monday to prepare for his toughest day as coach this weekend.
The team has failed to qualify to the All Africa Games football tournament for the first time in over 18 years and now lie on the verge of failing to make the Olympic final group stage qualifiers.
Zambia, who will host Algeria at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola on June 18, have set up camp in Kitwe where they will train at Arthur Davies stadium in Kitwe for the rest of the week.
Meanwhile, Msiska will seemingly only have three foreign-based players at his disposal namely Fwayo Tembo, Justin Zulu and Chisamba Lungu who are based in Switzerland, Israel and Russia respectively.
MUKOSHA GETS MODERN CALL
Former Zambia and Power Dynamos defender Ronald Mukosha was handed a surprise appointment as coach of Division 1 North club Kalulushi Modern Stars last week.
The former defender won his first match in charge on Sunday when Kalulushi beat promoted Kabwe United 1-0 at home.
This will be Mukosha’s first high-profile coaching job after a previous stint at Division 3 side Jokers Cave of Kitwe where he worked with one Rotson Kilambe.

recently, a 40 something-year old man pretended to be a lesbian Syrian girl who got in trouble with the authorities. this had the US agencies scampering trying to ensure she is not subjected to the inevitable capital punishment. everyone believed she was real…. until her (rather his) confession last week…….are we all genuine as we blog…?
