he Movement for Multi-Party Democracy, MMD, in Northern province yesterday held a reconciliation meeting with its provincial and district officials with the aim of promoting harmony in the party. According to the press statement issued to ZANIS in Kasama by MMD provincial secretary, Jailos Simunyola, described the meeting as successful. The members who attended the meeting resolved to embark on the campaign to organize and further strengthen the part in the province. The meeting also supported President Mwanawasa's view that the party hold a national convention one year before the tripartite elections to avoid leadership wrangles within the party. The statement added that the party should however continue identifying a suitable candidate who should move in the same direction of President Mwanawasa. The members ruled out tribal politics as every Zambian had a role to play in the development of the country. They also supported reconciliation among party members and civil servants in the province in order to foster development. ZANIS
