ZDA sets out investment incentives

The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) says the country has a lot of incentives to woo more foreign investors.

ZDA Manager for Investment Promotion, Jessica Chombo says the ZDA act provides foreign investors a five-year tax holiday as part of attracting investments.

She added that the agency has also come up with a number of farm blocks, which investors wanting to venture into the agriculture sector, can consider.

Meanwhile Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) President, Jeffrey Sakulanda has noted that Zambia allows foreign investors to repatriate their profits without any question.

  1. After  that Facebook arrest of a South African criminal in Livingstone it has become  embarrassing to be Zambian in Joburg. Here  is an opinion in The Star newspaper: State of Zambia a sign for South Africa

YOUR great front page story “Netted in Facebook hunt” (The Star, June 23) tells the story of how Fanie Terblanche was arrested in Zambia, put on a plane, and arrested again in South Africa.
Hidden in the story is the message that Africa simply can’t manage without help: the woman in Zambia who tipped police off about the fact that Terblanche had been living undetected in Africa for several years paid for the petrol so the police could take Terblanche to the airport, and even paid for his plane ticket to South Africa.

  2. We may laugh and point a finger at the Zambia police (who, when asked by a relative of mine to come to his house because he had been robbed in Zambia over 20 years ago, was requested by the police to come and collect them as they did not have a vehicle).
But we should not laugh, because we in South Africa are moving downwards to the level of Zambia. Africa is a joke and South Africa, 17 years after democracy, is joining the club.
Already the police, municipalities and education are asking members of the public to step in and help and contribute vehicles and computers, because they, the people in the position of authority, simply cannot cope. It makes me very sad that South Africa is in a downward spiral.

  3. I thinkVasco da Banda who spends millionsof dollaars  travelling senselessly should be ashamed that his police  force has no fuel for security errands!

  4. South Africa will be wellcomed back to the REAL Africa before long. They will be as poor as the rest of us soon.

  5. Zambians should know better that real development doesnt come about due to foreign investment. Why not woo local investers.Nothing is ever done to woo local investers at all. This is the problem when we go wrong we go it all the way until its too late to correct.Take heed to what Clinton said about being wary of the second colonialisation.Evidence is there to suggest Chinese investers mistreating Zambian workers just like in the 50s and 60s with the British where even courts cant convict forein wrong doers
