Zesco United are finally laughing all the way to the bank after they cashed in their K150 million prize for winning the 2010 Barclays Cup.
Club officials confirmed today that Zesco’s bounty for beating Zanaco 2-0 in the delayed 2010 final played this past April at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka has finally been paid.
Furthermore, Zesco coach Fighton Simukonda and defender Billy Mwanza were both bestowed with the Coach and Player of the tournament awards.
Simukonda took home K10 million while Mwanza picked up a K5 million cheque.
HEADS ROLL IN DIVISION 1 NORTH
Chambishi and Mufulira Police have both fired their coach’s following a spate of poor results.
Chambishi fired their long-serving coach Emmanuel Siwale who was on his third stint with his boyhood club.
And Mufulira Police parted ways with veteran coach and Mufulira Wanderers legend Fredrick Kashimoto.
10th placed Chambishi have replaced Siwale with Davies Chibemba while 7th positioned Mufulira Police, the club also known as Muchindu,have hired Robert Tana, who is ex-Zambia defender Elijah Tana’s big brother.
