PF adoption protests rumbles on

Share

PROTESTS by Patriotic Front (PF) members on the Copperbelt have continued with those in Lufwanyama rejecting their leader Michael Sata’s preferred candidate, 23-year-old Christopher Kalenge who they described as immature.

In Kawambwa, PF members are also not happy with the Parliamentary candidate Mr Sata has allegedly imposed on them, saying he was not the preferred candidate by the grassroots members.

The Lufwanyama PF district executive led by secretary, Prince Shimukunami told the Times in Kitwe yesterday that the grassroots members were opposed to the adoption of Mr Kalenge.
Mr Shimukunami said PF in the district was disappointed with the party leaders for going against the recommendation of Rodgers Chimena, and alleged that there was no democracy in the party.

“The party can’t impose somebody (Mr Kalenge) who has no political track record. He is only 23 years old, what can he do for the people in the constituency?” Mr Shimukunami said.
He accused the PF provincial executive of being corrupt by adopting Mr Kalenge who was not recommended.

Mr Shimukunami said 16 councillors from the 16 wards had since withdrawn from contesting in this year’s elections because of the alleged corrupt tendencies in the opposition party.

He said when the district executive complained to former Works and Supply minister Mike Mulongoti, who was coordinating the PF adoption process in Lufwanyama, the former minister only advised them not to leak the matter to the media because he did not want the central committee to know about it.

He said people had lost interest in the PF because of the alleged lack of respect for democracy.

Mr Shimukunami also said PF members in Lufwanyama had vowed not to vote for the opposition party leaders because they lacked respect for local leadership.

He said PF had lost its political clout on the Copperbelt because of the manner in which the adoption process had been handled, adding that Mr Sata should forget about being voted for.

Meanwhile the Patriotic Front in Bahati constituency has warned its top party leaders against adopting Hurry Kalaba to run as their candidate for Member of Parliament in the forth coming elections.

Constituency Chairman Damiano Mwewa says all the wards in the constituency do not want Mr Kalaba to be their candidate in the area.

Mr Mwewa says the PF in Bahati are threatening to defect to other parties if Mr Kalaba is adopted in the area.

He says the people of Bahati are ready to work with any other candidate and not Mr Kalaba who he said is a selfish and pompous person.

Mr Mwewa says Kalaba wants to destroy the structures of the party in the area by bribing people who are not in the party structure in order to solicit for support.

Zanis reports that Mr Mwewa was speaking when he lead a number of PF supporters at the Zanis offices in Mansa on Monday.

Mr Mwewa says Kalaba has already started mistreating people in the area and wondered how he will be if chosen as Member of Parliament.

He says the constituency wants a candidate chosen by the people and not to impose on them.

He urged party Secretary General Winter Kabimba to listen to the views of the people of Bahati because they are the ones voting and not Mr Kalaba.

What you are seeing on the ground is an illusion of yourself. Wait for the victory parade maybe you will wake up from your sleep

MMD 4 : 0     its a bitter fact to swallow

  3. Hehe — this bunch of losers is still struggling to adopt candidates. A clash between democracy and dictatorship.

  4. This is what dont kubeba means. It can be applied in all sittuations. People on the ground dont kubeba just accept as long as the president has appointed them. No democracy

  5. This paper is full of propaganda because its run by boot lickers of rupiah banda. Where did the women get the mega phone to start broadcasting in with? That thing was provided for by the mmd and a few fitenges to show that they are real pf members. Shame on you editors of this paper. Look at how much you wrote about rupiah after he filed in his false papers and how much you wrote about our in coming president SATA yesterday as if there was no thunderous welcome for him up to town centre. Mwalibelela ukumibosha pakuti mukwateko ifyakuchita. Shame.

  6. MMD parliamentary candidates are busy campaigning while few chosen PF candidates are being reject by voters or they are fighting each other. And Sata has not found candidates for all constituencies.
When are they going to start campaigning? And if MMD wins the election they will be saying that the elections were rigged? We only have about 50 days to the election date. Poor finishing (PF) at its best.

  7. Politics is neither academic nor a social science of the faint and fragile hearted but strategic, selfless, pragmatic and agile which RB has proven a complete package.Let Sata keep his hallucinations in courts and RB intensify his galvanizing momentum around the country.

  8. Ndimwe che a galu ba LT. When yo f@cking MMD had aspiring candidates who were left out of the adoption process complaining, u neva wrote about it! Once more, agalu imwe!

  9. That picture was taken at a mammoth rally for the incoming president Mr Sata. I know these women actually they are not protesting

  10. PF chaps, there is no no point in shooting the messenger. Prove people wrong by producing the list of candidates. What’s keeping you from doing so?

My guess is as follows. It is true that Mr Sata has imposed his preferred candidates on some constituencies. Being the populist, and opportunist I might add, he checks for any dissenting voices. He flipflops, as he always does, and gives the dissenting voices their preferred candidates. And voila, he has some support back and on his way to State House.

Unfortunately Mr. Sata you have already lost the plot. Announce the full list of candidates, please.

    • Imwe bakulu…
List of candidates ukumyeba ni donchi. What is important for us is to make sure that we have candidates we have should not be your concern or your problem…

  11. Here in Luapula all PF parliamentary candidates has scores to settle. No one is accepted 90%. In all constituencies in Luapula for PF fyongo fyekafyeka. what a down fall. they all want to be mps. tamwaitambe even this year. it is RB on the steering wheel.

  12. @10 Sadakah, that is an OLD picture of PF cadres at a PF function maybe a rally. The picture is not a fabrication for today’s story, if you browse LT from about January when the Pact was very loud, you will find the picture. If that is why PF cadres claim that the public media is biased, then you and your fellow PF cadres are much more ignorant than I ever suspected, but now we have learnt from you.

  13. We talk about adopting women and the youths. We adopt someone young and you are saying he is young what can he do? you want old people like the ones running for presidency. Give us a break

  14. LT you have adopted a new strategy not indicating your source of news but you can not hoodwink the readership who know better! Just continue duplicating ZNBC, Times of Zambia and Zambia Daily Mail “news”!

  15. PF is flooding the news media with clouds of speculation. If Sata claims he is the most popular politician in Zambia, why on Earth is he failing to publish a full list of his chosen adopted candidates? Besides this so-called fearless politician resorted to tactics of shadow-boxing in an attempt to eliminate RB on technicality of parentage issues rather than face him in the ring. The secrecy of the adopted list is a ploy to dribble candidates that were identified at grass roots level. Apparently, this will boomarang into a contest of Sata’s imposed favourites vs candidates that were democratically elected by its hard working cadres. This will spoil the PF’s campaign machinery. The battle is trully between HH and RB. Successful filing-in by RB has driven a final nail on Sata’s coffin.

  16. The langauage of a looser is all about blaming and argumentative. Let’s observe who is doing more of the complaining. What happens when we loose a soccer match, we blame either the referee or the couch.Sometimes we even blame the oponents for having used over grown players.
The attitude of the poor sometimes is dissapointing, they think by electing a tribes mate then all will be well. People engange in fights to rasle power from each other.usually the poor are used as pawrns, taking all the heat and hate, while the so called leaders enjoy their quiet time in a spacious farm or residential area.
The people who make the most noise don’t even know what is in the manifesto of the parties they are supporting.

  17. MMD listed all its Candidates on one day ……………..now these Opposition parties are we safe…up to now where is the complete list. How does one know now this afternoon and goes to organise people in his constituency……….are we serious MMD will bounce back Hard.
