President Banda

President Rupiah Banda has successfully filed in his presidential nomination papers before Chief Justice Ernest Sakala at the Supreme Court.

President Banda arrived at the Supreme Court at about 10:20hours in a luxury coach painted in MMD colours, to a thunderous welcome amid singing and dancing cadres.

There was jubilation from the supporters as the luxury bus carrying President Banda entered the Supreme Court grounds.

The MMD cadres raised banners, placards and various campaign materials as President Banda entered the Supreme Court grounds.

Mr Banda walked straight to the Supreme Court in the company of First lady Thandiwe, Vice President George Kunda, and MMD National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe.

Some former cabinet and Deputy Ministers who have been adopted to contest various constituencies on the MMD ticket also accompanied President Banda.

Among them are Ronnie Shikapwasha for Keembe, Dora Siliya for Petauke Central and Moses Muteteka for Chisamba.

Others are MMD candidate for Kabwata Constituency Dr Peter Machungwa, former Government Chief Whip Vernon Mwaanga.

After president Banda had filed in his nomination, Chief Justice Ernest Sakala declared Mr Banda’s nomination papers valid at about 10:50 hours.

And speaking to journalists within the Supreme Court after filing in his nomination papers, President Banda said he and his government are happy that they have done their best to deliver development even though time was limited.

President Banda said various infrastructure development projects in the health and education sector, construction of roads and bridges as some of the things he has done during his three years in office.

Mr Banda said he is particularly happy that the country has remained peaceful and united.

President Banda said the MMD will take campaign message to the people as contained in party manifesto.

But president Banda says the MMD will not take people for granted.

Mr Banda says he will also ask Zambians to vote for him again based on what he has achieved during the time that he has been in office.

And addressing MMD members who gathered to give him support at the Supreme Court grounds, Mr Banda pledged to do more if voted for in this year’s elections.

He thanked them for giving him solidarity during the filing in of his nomination papers.

I can see alot of people retiring this year.

  8. For sure RB we shall give you the necessary vote. We are impressed with your good leadership and the attitude of your father figure. You have united all Zambians during your 3 year tenure. You deserve another mandate to continue with a number of developmental projects you embarked on. Personally I’m campaigning for you though not known by the party. I’m on the ground to ensure that you go through. We have formed a task force with my colleagues and busy campaigning for you. May God richly bless as you prepare for your campaign. Nafuti Nafuti! RB President for All Zambians. Please ignore unwarranted attacks from the PF camp. PF role is just to distract you and they have nothing to offer the Zambian people. Please sell yourself in these remaining days. Good lucky RB and the MMD

  9. Where was Winter at a time. This is what we man when we say “BOMA NI BOMA3 You tried your monkey tricks of parentage but to no avail.

    By the way are you still proceeding with supreme court appeal. I guess not because time for campaign is long gone. You better be in the field. See you September 20;

  10. # 10 The Engineer (Australia). You are not voting? What type of a cadre are you. We have just managed to arrange transport from JHB to Lusaka. We will give details soon for all those PF supporters registered to vote. We will assist with transport for FREE, to and from Lusaka. It is  a Luxury 64 sitter bus . Just finalizing logistics. 11. The first part of my prediction has come true: THAT PRESIDENT BANDA WILL SUCCESSFULLY FILE IN HIS NOMINATION. Now waiting for the second part of my prediction: THAT PRESIDENT BANDA WILL WIN THE SEPT. 20TH ELECTIONS AND WILL BE SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT FOR THE PERIOD 2011 TO 2016. Congratulations, Mr. President. As for me and my household, we shall vote for you. for me and my household, we shall vote for you.

  12. “President Banda arrived at the Supreme Court at about 10:20hours…….After president Banda had filed in his nomination, Chief Justice Ernest Sakala declared Mr Banda’s nomination papers valid at about 10:50 hours”. Total time from arrival to declaration 30 minutes, the papers were so much in order. Compared to the cadre atmosphere yesterday with a certain party, this man is such a breath of fresh air to our politics, and he is so modern despite his age. RB & MMD, nafuti nafuti!

  13. No 15 thanks for the offer. Am in Australia. Even if i was in Zambia. I can not vote for call boyz.
I will be in spirit with my president ….  like i said i have seen the mountain top and i smell victory

    MMD 4 : PF 0

    • Sir, I’m in England and I will not be voting in this year’s election. But I’ve convinced my 2 brothers and 1 sister with their families to put their vote on RB. They were pro Pali Fwaka (PF). We debated and they have seen for themselves that RB is a stable and mature candidate compared to Sata. Though we are not in Zambia physically, we are there in spirit. And 3 friends of my have confirmed that they are not voting pali fwaka. they were also pro pf.

  14. No 17
What did you expect… this man is an economics graduate  he his not a constable nor a call boy.

  15. Nafuti nafuti……This year is all about ending Sata’s political career and delivering more development to Zambian. VIVA RB!!

  16. Politics is neither academic nor a social science of the faint and fragile hearted but strategic, selfless, pragmatic and agile which RB has proven a complete package.Let Sata keep his hallucinations in courts and RB intensify his galvanizing momentum around the country.

  17. My presidential candidate is a foreigner and i’m cheering proudly  “nafuti nafuti”only in Zambia, when are we going to wake up, foreigner who is also Commender in Chief of the Arms Forces…. nobody is bigger than the constitution and PF should have been on this issue months ago!!
This issue is far much bigger than MMD and I’m not even a PF or HH supporter but a proud Zambian.
This will back fire and our children will pay the price of our relaxed approach!!

  18. “Mr Banda said he is particularly happy that the country has remained peaceful and united.” Unquote.

Now match that Mr. Sata. Level headedness, strong commitment to a united hardworking Zambia is progress. Not “money in your pockets” to drink chibuku promises.
And the man knows you can’t take people for granted. Another thing PF hardly understands. Thank you Zambians for your wisdom.

And Kabimba’s appeal to the High Court to bar RB was the last nail in PF’s coffin.

  19. New Mandate for our leader RB and people’s ruling MMD party means:

More Subsidies at production level than at consumption,
    More better schools,
    More hospitals,
More food security through bumper harvests,
    More good markets,
    more road networks,
    More bridges,
    More dams,
More livestock treatment and replenishing centers,
    More quality education,
    Massive investments,
more dignity for every hardworking Zambian,
    Guaranteered national security,
    More political stability and coexistence.

  20. Nafuti Nafuti….Go president Banda. The people of Zambia are behind you and are giving you another mandate. Go MMD Go. \:d/

  21. Whoa! What can one say when all is said? Kabimba was sleeping hallucinating that this election would be a walk in the bwato that waits to sink, but got a rude shock and started forging stories of citizenship. We now know the people who were behind the barring of KK, Chiluba was just a proxy. It will not happen with RB. The clock is timeless. Boats have a history of grounding and are unreliable no matter how big they are and become dangerous when they are overcrowded. Look at the titanic and the recent Volga River ill-fated ferry. Now it will be the mubwato or mwamukolo going down with the deceived rally attendants.

  22. LT, can I suggest that you develop a voting panel for us to mock vote on the presidential cacandidates aand their ccampaign messages. Instead of or in addition to voting up/down people’s blog comments, give us a chance to rate each candidate depending on issues they discuss until polling day.

  23. VIVA RB; VIVA MMD and God bless Uncle VJ as he continues working tirelessly in his laboratory. We shall cut the head of the sepeant.

  24. WE NOW WAIT AND SEE WHO GOD IS GOING TO APPOINT TO LEAD ZAMBIA LEADERSHIP COMES FROM GOD. NO MAN CAN CHANGE WHAT GOD HAS PLANNED,

  25. First hurdle of filing in nomination papers negotiated.Second hurdle of campaigning seems to be smooth and is about to be negotiated as well.Third hurdle of being re elected looks brighter giving hope of another negotiation.Fourth hurdle of being sworn in is on the horizon and will be negotiated in full view of Sata and his hench men.Final hurdle of delivering development to the Zambian people will be the easiest yet to negotiate. Then thereafter RB will retire peacefully wtth dignity and pride.

  26. I won’t vote for him on moral grounds. He lied to Zambians that he shall only serve Levy’s term. Politicians should be people who keep their word not shifting shadows.

  27. Nothing much to say. What we have in zambia is blind support. No idealogies, no inspiration from the same parties. Even implementation of policies is a mercy. Development is in the pocket of one man (president)
For all of you gentlemen the biggest thing we have to fight is having a better constitution. RB or whoever can take advantage of our bad constitution. This will hep us build better systems than currently prevailing. There is a dislocation at every point in our development system and services

  28. #38 Well said….how can we be better when people like Banda even discontinued the Task Force which helped curb corruption….in his term the draft was rejected in Parliament all because it was done in bad faith…MMD gave themselves 20 years for nothing…time to change redo the constitution with all involved not based on hatred
