The Controversy in the Opposition Patriotic Front over adoption of parliamentary candidates has deepened.
The much anticipated adoption in the opposition party is so much divisive that even families are on the verge on splitting
Former PF Munali Member of Parliament, Mumbi Phiri is reluctant to endorse her elder sister, Professor Nkandu Luo, who was adopted to replace her.
Mrs Phiri claims the decision by the PF central committee to adopt Professor Luo, has left a crack in her family, especially that she had never made her intentions known.
Efforts to get a comment from Professor Luo failed as her mobile phone was switched off.
Meanwhile, The Patriotic Front-PF said , once voted into office,it intends to decentralise powers to enable people make their own decisions from district to provincial level.
Speaking during a public forum organised by Media Institute for Southern Africa-(MISA)Zambian chapter at sunset lodge in Monze,Patriotic Front district chairperson Mackenzie Lungu said his party wants to see full participation of all Zambians by introducing ward councils in villages,Chief councils and also district chief councils.
”our party once voted in office after September 20,will make suere that we decentralise all powers to enable our people make their own decisions at both province and district levels”,Lungu said.
”This is aimed at making possible the information flow from the grassroots not what is happening with the MMD”,he added.
Mr Lungu added that his party will domesticate and implement the 2008 United Nations General assembly convention on the rights of persons with dissabilities as well as the review of the Persons With Disability act of 1996.
”our party is the only committed party in uplifting the living conditions of the less privileged in society and we will bring on board all the treaties that Zambia has signed including the 2008 United Nations General Convention on the right of persons with disabilities”,Lungu said.
”its sad that the country has failed to implement the treaties despite Zambia being the signatory to the many treaties”,he added.

It is sad to see a party that promised so much implode without any pressure from outside. I would borrow the saying from the Holy Christian Bible which says that you shall know them by their fruits. It says a lot about their leader’s style of leadership. This is the time when they should show that they are credible contenders not a bunch of power hungry egotistical individuals.
This is not true. Mumbi Phiri has openly declared support for Prof Luo. She was even present at the Supreme Court during Sata’s filing of nominations. Mumbi Phiri told a journalists that those who expected her to defect from PF will be disappointed. Therefore, I urge the media to report factually and truthfully. This is not the time of concocting facts.
Other PF past MPs who were not adopted but were present at the Supreme Court to show solidarity with Sata include Willie Nsanda and Mark Mushili. In fact the other day one blog maliciously reported that Sata has dropped Nsanda from the list yet the truth is that Nsanda didnt apply for re-adoption. He opted to offer his services in other capacities.Â
I should have also concluded to say in the above posting that “media dont force smoke out of the silent gun”. The media has implored by the stakeholders especially the ECZ to be responsible, factual and ethical. Journalism in Zambia is still one of the most indiscipline profession which needs to be regulated so that there is order and sanity. PF will easily grab the seats which you have listed. The voting pattern in Zambian is not personalized but based on party loyalty. For instance, the squabbles that characterized the adoption of former sports deputy minister in the Mporokoso by-election is a good reminder of how people get swayed by party loyalty. There was one camp in PF which was not pleased with the fielding of the former deputy minister on assumption that he was not popular in the area. However, when voting came, the guy won with a landslide victory. This will also happen in Luapula province. Think of how Kunda was shamed when he visited the province last month. The man ended up addressing children and hired teachers whilst the streets were littered with PF chanting crowds. Â
I am sure the above comment has comprehensively answered @# 9’s question. In fact MMD was not even supposed to filed candidates in regions such as Southern, Luapula, Western, C/belt and Lusaka. It was just a formality being a ruling party to portray to the public that it is present in all the corners of the country. # 22, PF has already concluded its adoptions. It handed out the certificates last week to all those who have been adopted except for a few who were only given on last evening. The party had placed a few on investigations following rumors that some were bribing committee members who were responsible for selections. The list is intact of course just like any other party there are those who are displeased after a fall out. PF can not be run away from such complaints. Some people feel that they are either very popular or the seats they were holding were personal-to-holder. Why PF has not made the list public is up to them, I cant speculate. UPND, UNIP and many other parties have also not disclosed the names of those who have been adopted. The only party that has fulfilled this is MMD.Â
