Vice President Nalumango calls for more help to flood victims

Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, has called on the corporate entities in the country to join hands and help people that have been affected by floods.

Mrs Nalumango said this when she received assorted items valued at about K1 million from Trade Kings Foundation.

She said as a corporate body, Trade Kings, has been an all-weather friend in so many calamities such as cholera and Covid-19 times.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Nalumango has cautioned members of the public to desist from building and acquiring properties in unplanned areas saying floods in Lusaka are caused by blocked water paths.

She said floods are a natural calamity that government has no control of hence the need for all well-wishers to help victims.

And Trade Kings General Manager, Lux Subramanian, said is aware of the challenges that government is experiencing in mitigating the impact of floods and rehabilitating the lives of affected people.

Mr Subramanian said Trade Kings Foundation remains committed to improving the livelihoods of people as the country continues to experience the adverse impact of climate change.

“Trade Kings Group remains a partner in development with the government as it continues the economic recovery efforts with a model that has the people and communities at the centre of its core business,” he said.

Meanwhile, DMMU National Coordinator, Gabriel Pollen, said government and the private sector have continued to partner in easing the sufferings of people.

  1. Why not relocate them to a temporary place till their houses dry, there has been warning of more rains ,evacuate them to shelters please

    • They are waiting for someone to donate their houses and vehicles. The government can only cry for help

  2. Anzathu ku US Biden turned up in one of the disaster-struck states and offered help. The State government said it would cope. Monga boza ai?
