Share

Government has dispatched a team of medical experts to assess the condition of first republican President Kenneth Kaunda who is hospitalised in Namibia.

The team of health experts that has left for Namibia includes Dr Kaunda’s former personal physician Professor Chifumbe Chintu, Director of Emergency and Mobile Health Services Dr Welani Chilengwe and University Teaching Hospital Director Luckson Kasonka.

Ministry of Health Spokesperson Kamoto Mbewe has told ZNBC News that the team will examine and review the condition of the former head of state.

He says government will keep the nation informed on the health of Dr Kaunda and the progress made by the medical team sent to assess his condition.

  1. A paediatrician, a public health and a gynaecologist to see an old man. Talk of abuse of manpower. As a lay man, i think the team should have constituted atleast a geriatrician but NOT any of the three that have been sent. For example the gyancologist, will he be checking in case KK is giving birth or what? And the paediatrician, how old is KK first?

  2. Ba KK
Please do not die…..  we want you to see your dream come true when we retire the the Snake to Mpika. We want you to be part of the victory parade… Atleast you will die in peace then…..

  3. LT u posted an article from MMD VUVUZELAS that he is not sick. what is happening? Waza in the post sayed he is sick, whats wrong with these chaps.

  4. “THE office of the first President has dismissed media reports that Dr Kenneth Kaunda was taken ill to a Namibian Hospital. Chief of staff in the office of the first President Godwin Mfula said in Lusaka yesterday that Dr Kaunda was in Namibia on his annual leave that was approved by Cabinet office.“We do not know where that information is coming from because Dr Kaunda has been in Namibia for the past two weeks on his annual leave which is approved by Cabinet office” ”
     [Times of Zambia]

And this is the paper that the MMD want you to be paying attention to, my a$$!

  5. Hope he survives, cause we will be left with no former president. We need to pray as a nation. We ve lost two great leaders within 4 years. man, we are not ready to lose another one. the space is just tooo short. God help Zambia!!!

  6. Who is the old man’s internist? I honestly do not see the need of sending three physicians. Why do Zambians love delegations? KK’s personal physician should be the one on that plane.

  7. Kwena ba Government media you are useless. I was almost proving some vuvzelas right against the Post when actually the post was right to say KK was ill. What about the person you claimed to have quoted from his office? You tell lies even on straight foward issues.

  8. # 9 Baby strawberry – Please save us the nonsense, this country lost one and that was Levy. The other was a case of good riddance, he was a stinking thief that deserved to die and no wonder when Kanishamezy MalaZimba declared national moaning ba Zambia were busy kuciliza celebrating.

  9. No. 1 seems to think, like bo Namakando. He clearly believes he has the monopoly of wisdom like the PF vuvuzela\photo album chief. I”m sure you would have preferred that Dr. Christine travels, perhaps with Dr. Simbyakula a PF stoge\lawyer and Dr. Scott, a clown. Fact is whilst you seem to know they’re specialised training backgrounds, you need to get to know that they are ALL extremely competent in making a decent assessment and in updating us. Simply stated, No. 1 is a chizende.

  10. Get Well Soon Super Ken…We need you to provide guidance and wisdom to the new generation and besides if you die we will have no former president, Man can you imagine….we really pray to God that he sustains you for more years to come

  11. We Love u ba KK,u hav done a lot to us but i think age has cought up with u.Anyway let his will be done as #12 has put it.

  12. Punch Drunk Cobra,
Sometimes silence is the best policy. Why can’t you just wish the old man a quick recovery? Let the guys do their job. What makes you the competent authority on medical matters to which you are not privy. Please think before you start typing away.

  13. @Blessings, great response and advise an assessment can be done by any Medical Doctor and then recommend specialist treatment in need be….by the way All specialist first train as MD before becoming any kind of specialist……..

  14. So interesting a while ago it was KK is fine blabla and such. Now a team of experts being sent to Namibia. Shame on such kind reporting ba LT and your sources.

  15. KK: there is so much that you need to say before you leave us. We need those memoirs for posterity’s sake. For 27 years you led us and left Zambia in 1991 peacefully. Whatever pipo might say, the peace and tribal-less unity we enjoy is your greatest legacy, not to mention UNZA, CBU, TAZARA, TAZAMA; thousands of us graduates who enjoyed free education and Zambia’s rallying point: One Zambia, One Nation. If you will read this, I want you to know that we are proud of you…including those Safari Suits!

  16. Why send a team of medical doctors from Zambia? Are there no medical doctors in Namibia to give an up-date on his condition? Now how do doctors from here go to a hospital in Namibia and start examining their patient? Anyway, we are laymen twakulaunfwakofye!!!!

    • John, Namibia is different from Zambia. Here, you can be hospitalised in a state hospital and be attended to by your own, private doctor. Your Medical Insurers ensure that that is possible.

  17. At whose expense is this trip? This is poor Tax payers money now paying Chifumbe, Welani and Luckson in dollars when Namibian doctors on the ground can update the GRZ even through the Zed Embassy in Windhoek where there are even better medical facilities than UTH.

  18. I hope it’s nothing serious. May he recover quickly in God’s name and return home. Zambia is incomplete without him.

  19. The person who was quoted by the papers was Dr. Kaunda’s nephew Mr. Goodwin Mfula (umwana waba Joan Kaunda ) who runs the Office of the First President of Zambia. If ba Mfula wanted to hide his uncle’s illness what could LT or the Times do. The problem is that we Zambians are so polarised on political lines that we always want to ascribe bad motives. The Post probably quoted Dr. Waza who is not the official spokesperson designated by the old man.

  20. Government ya a Rupiah Banda yama secret yaupuba.

Mwanawasa’s illness was downplayed, now it is KK’s illness that they have dispelled.

    God help us.

    Get well soon KK.

  21. Is anyone in the delegation actually practicing medical professional or just pencil pushers? If you are sending a team why not send people who are actually practicing? Besides half of the doctors in Namibia are Zambia born and trained so no need to send these geriatrics to check on superman (Super Ken). Get well soon big man, I know SWAPO has your back just like most of us in Zambia

  22. #1, has merely stated facts. Vizende are busy to be wiser than him/her. its true the delegation should have been a reflection of what they are going to do. I really dont se the job of a gynaecologist in this matter to be honest.

#14 uleke uchizende wo teti. This is not about PF or MMD, its about the old man’s health

  23. PF bloggers there is no government at the moment in Zambia as very well know ,RB and GK are just caretakers till a new government is ushered into office.Do not blame every little thing on RB,try to be reasonable at times KK’s illness is a sad development to all well meaning Zambians including Dr Rupiah Banda himself so lets just pray for quick recovery for KK ,he is an asset to our nation.

  24. You just indirectly asking governement to care for you as we are told your health is not in good shape at the moment you can barely open that foul mouth of yours.Satana go for your medical review now before it is too late ka…….

  25. Zambia and wasting resources!!! Those directors are rusty and will just attract huge allowances. I hope they even remember how to use a stethoscope! Get well soon sir.

  26. Super Ken you’re going to pull through this one, at least you’ll witness the way SataNA will be sent packing to Mpika.

  27. Hi. I am based here in Namibia. The old man is supposed to be discharged today. He was admitted bto Medi City here in Windhoek. Its part of the group of hosipitals where our leaders go in SA.

    • We thank God for the healing process taking place in our Former President’s body. We appreciate what he has done. We still need his guidance. God Bless Him and His family.

  28. pediatrician (child health), public health specialist and a gynaecologist to check on kk!!! This country is a joke!!!!

  29. Get well soon big man; some of us really appreciate what you did for this country. Let people learn to apologise when they are wrong; if someone is sick he is sick and you dont deny it; just because it came from whoever whether you hate them or not you must take health seriously

  30. It was earlier reported that KK was ill by the POST.LT also reported refuting saying KK was well and on holiday.Surprising, you have dispatched medical personnel to asses the situation of a man who is well and on holiday.Who is fooling who here? This is why I keep on laughing the level of foolishness. Its just obvious that even a small lad would tell who is fooling who and most of you boys abroad keep on taliking none sense when you should be talking sense.

  31. Praise the Lord Jesus Zambia. Repent and we shall be saved. Prayers for president Kaunda; our first post colonial leader.

  32. Kanishamezy fa Sikopo-Kanjoko, mind your language when you are talking about fathers of this nation. Every human being has got his or her own weaknesses and according to Romans 3:23, we are all sinners, then who are you to judge the late former President Chiluba? Do you know the relationship he had with Jehovah God? My fellow Zambians let us learn to respect our leaders, it is not our culture to insult. May God put His Hand of Healing on Dr. Keneth Kaunda.

  33. Get well soon we need you papa. You gave us the education and now we are educating all our neighbours. We have lost a good leader Levy(not great) the other ***** was just a case of good riddance he was common thief just like number 14 has put it. Zambia will never have an original thinker like you as president again GET WELL WELL SOONEST!!!!!!!!!.
