Mr. Akufuna notes that the team includes the various stakeholders from the civil society political parties and the public and private media among others.

Mr. Akufuna however could not give further details saying he could only be able to give more details on the process of printing ballot papers commences.

The ECZ has contracted Universal Print group of South Africa to print the ballot papers for the for this year’s elections a move that has received criticism from the opposition political parties such as the PF.

  1. Only sad that the Director at Governmnet Printers will not be part of this team as he will be buried tomorrow. MHSRIP

  2. WHATS SO SPECIAL ABOUT UPG?? ….IS IT THE ONLY PRINTING COMPANY CAPABLE OF PRINTING OUR BALLOT PAPERS??……..FINSHI IMICHITILA UPG??….SURELY WITH ALL THE CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING THIS COMPANY YOU STILL GO AHEAD TO GIVE THEM THE JOB??……… WHATEVER THE CASE, THIS YEAR, NOBODY WILL STEAL OUR VOTES …….ICHINTU, CHINTU UMWENE!!!……..

  3. He does not know the details, then why make a statement? At least you should have the number of monitors at hand Mr. Akufuna? All this is tax payer’s money we need to be furnished with details. Next time the govt should invest in Govt Printers to print ballot papers locally to avoid this superfluousness. We could have used these money for more meaningful projects. Imagine the cost of sending all these people to RSA, feeding, allowances and accommodation expenses.

  4. I hope the team is not busy partying in Durban. Typical of Zambians, they will be consistently drunk and getting hangovers such that they will forget what they went to do there. We dont want anyone of them to return and start crying rigging blur-blur-blur. Do your job there and dont get sucked into Durban high-life.

  5. it is unfortunate mr rupia bwezani banda had to call mr sata a ngomwa at a rally in keembe. ladies and gentlemen, why would somebody aspiring for the highest office of the land start laughing at the people who cant have children. lets stand up and decampaign him becouse its not our fault that we cant have children. shame, shame, shame.

  6. 4.

If the printing was done locally there could be teams from each party witnessing the printing.

But look at all the added costs now involved which i’m sure is more than the 40million kwacha that was needed for GP to do the job locally.

ECZ is involved in this corruption to feed themselves and holiday in S.A for a few days.

  7. If there are more than 20 people involved from Zambia then this has cost Zambia a lot in finances that could have been spent on nurses and medicines..
2Million kwacha per person is basic expenses so this was estimated at the lowest scale capable.

Now look at what everyone else spends when in S.A.
This can blow out to 200Million Kwacha just to print where ECZ says so.

Bit hard to break a contract now but when questions were first raised nobody from MMD spoke about the wastage of funds if they were to be printed in S.A..

No probability budgeting as usual in Zambia.

  8. I think PF should send Given Lubinda since he has an eye for irregularities and is objective. We don’t want complaints after results.

  9. The MMD Government has already got “their own” ballot papers delivered to them in the dead of night which they will use to rig elections. What is happening in RSA is indeed a circus as observed by Jojo (No 5). When are Zambians ever gong to wake up and say; enough is enough? Down with the “Malawian Mafiosos”…

  10. But how can pipo rig through this printing of ballot?? i need some education. On the poll day, these ballots are empty and verified by the party argents. At the end of the poll, They are unsealed and counting commences. After counting is done, each polling argent counter signs on the results. Which stage then are these ballots papers(votes) manipulated??? Guys.lol there is nothing like rigging in Zambian elections, its only the calibre of our candidates who after losing cant accept defit. As am writing, all the sept 20 losers know themselves and know what excuse they will use on 23rd september.

  11. What is the connection between those two unalert policemen in the picture and the story? We should have been shown the team at Oliver Tambo international airport or Durban Airport and not that dirty ZEGA store house with rusted trolleys. Pa ZEd awe mwe, will things ever get better. LT please improve your reporting skills.

  12. One more thing if you have noticed Zambian soldiers know how to hold a gun, in front and pointing it down with the finger near the trigger. That is how policemen in developed countries hold their weapons as well. I just wonder why Zambian policemen are so careless with their guns. They are not alert. One weak chap can even grab the gun and suppose there is a sudden challenge? The enemy would shoot first before they wake up. Infact I am suprised that even when escorting the president they hang their guns on their backs. This is very serious if you havent noticed. There is need to change training tactics in our police service. I hope someone like ndandula siamana or a well wisher will tell bwana mkubwa IG Kabonde.
