Some ballot papers reprinted

Ballot papers for nine local government wards and one parliamentary constituency are being reprinted in Durban.

This was after the Electoral Commission of Zambia- ECZ discovered mistakes on the ballots for the affected wards and the constituency.

ECZ Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna says most of the wards had missing candidates while other wards had names of candidates appearing in the wrong alphabetical order.

MR. Akufuna told journalists in Durban on Monday that the affected wards are in central province, Copperbelt, Eastern province and Western province.

He says ballot papers for Sinjembela Constituency will have to be reprinted because the names of the candidates are not appearing in alphabetical order.

Mr Akufuna has attributed some of the errors to the big numbers of local government wards which have exceeded one thousand and pressure of meeting the deadline before election date.

He says the reprinting of the named ballot papers started last night and was expected to be completed today, Monday.

    • Not just these provinces. Continue campaigning and let’s tell our people to spend that one night, September 20th to protect our valuable votes.

  1. thieves u just want tom rigg we know u will use southern province for rigging..P.F. be alert check for namwala -gwembe area u will see how the results will coming out..MMD want to rigg from southern pronvince

  2. KCI #1 Don’t lose sleep plz! All will be well, just campaign. There is no way rigging has been going on for ages and no one, I repeat, no one has been caught to cause a major change in the presidential count.

  3. How did these mistakes happen? I thought these were checked/proof read before they started printing! just wondering what is going on!

  4. Even after proof reading, mistakes can easily be overlooked. Otherwise there is no need for concern. These are common mistakes in this busines, the good thing is that they have been detected in time.

  5. Rigging has justed started and you want political parties to say they will accept election results. This year we’re watching you riggers!

  6. If this was about rigging, would ECZ publicise the fact that a re-print is about to take place? Am sure the same people who have been monitoring the printing process till now will also be present for the re-print. More than 16 million ballot papers have been printed so far, surely it is unrealistic to think that there will be no mistakes but I guess it gives something else for PF to whine and whinge about.

  7. Mulongoti has been chairman of elections for MMD for a long time and now he is in PF, He is just talking of rigging i thought he is the right chap to tell us how the rigging is done. Looking at how much he hates the MMD and its leaders especially RB, do you think he would keep the rigging strategy as a secrete till now? Zambians, there is no rigging all what is there is what we call the game theory

  8. You primitive PF supporters, mistakes happen in most printing jobs as long as they account for what was printed, there is no problem. One issue i have observed is that the Don’t Kubeba slogan is an anti democracy slogan which is promoting lack of free floor of information. Look at the poor PF representative in Durban is practicing don’t kubeba on every aspect by not answering any question from journalist about the process there. If PF comes to power by mistake the don’t kubeba concept will bring about undemocratic tendencies of not sharing information as can be observed from the PF representative in Durban. 9. Hey guyz its only 8 days to go before we return RB. For you PF supporters who are used to loosing, can someone please tell me how it feels to loose elections 3 times and the anxiety gripping your stomach knowing that next week definately you are loosing? How do you feel? I’ll tell you as an Arsenal fan, whenever we are about to face Man U, Barca, Chelsea etc, I always wish that the date could be brought forward so that we get on with the defeat and move on. I’ve got a feeling thats how you feel. But I could be wrong. So ba PF please answer me. I am ready to give free counceling after this impending ,massacre. This snake has to be buried in Mpika for good. email me: [email protected]

  10. Guys, let us talk to whoever we can, but please for that one day let the entire Country spend there night at the polling station guiding our votes up and until the last vote has been counted and results announced by the ECZ in Lusaka (Confirmed by oursleves in the field as true). Please spare us your sleep and let’s all spend our nights at the polling stations. If you suspect there will be rigging at any one polling station, please let us go there early enough so we seal out everything.

  11. Of the 5.2 Million registered voters I take 50% are PF members and sympathisers, which divided by 6000 polling stations works out to an average 400 per polling station. All the peoples pact need is just 5% of this number, an average 20 vigilant people at each and every polling station from the PF. This Country needs your support.

  12. #20 Yes it certainly will be like Nakonde, which was a lot of noise over nothing. You people are so s.tupid that you are not even ashamed of incidents like Nakonde which highlight just what a bunch of trouble seeking, wild goose chasers, rumour mongering ,rabble rousers you are. In Nakonde, you not only wasted your time, but that of the police and here you are mentioning Nakonde like it was something to be proud of!!

  13. The names which were mistakenly not printed could have been for PF candidates in those wards. I don’t know what the PF monitor at UPG was doing, but thank God we are a true democracy and the mistake was detected in good time. How PF is raising the rigging nonsense on this is beyond belief, they never even checked who is affected.

  14. Mr Sata was in MMD, and so were Mr Mpombo, Mr Mulongoti, Mr Guy Scott, Mr Kabimba, Ms Masebo (I don’t know whose wife she is now), and others. None of these men and woman have shown us how rigging is done. I bet you my last pin that when RB defects to the PF in 2016 he will also donchi kubeba how rigging is done :-), kikikiki, awe ni Agony pa PF mwe!

  15. minnesota workers cosionmatpen attorney I’m curious to find out what blog system you are using? I’m experiencing some minor security problems with my latest site and I would like to find something more safe. Do you have any suggestions?
