MMD members leaving the party are weak hearted -Nyangu

Share

MMD Deputy National secretary Chembe Nyangu

The opposition MMD has described party members that have resigned after the party’s election defeat as weak hearted.

MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu tells QFM that those resigning after the party lost to the ruling PF party are merely proving that they were not committed to the party.

Mr. Nyangu notes that living the party following its loss to the PF is not a solution but that instead members need to sit down and reflect on where the party could have gone wrong.

He adds that the MMD will continue to participate in politics and that it still has chances of bouncing back to power after 2016.

Mr. Nyangu has however congratulated the PF for emerging victorious and has wished all those that are living the MMD the best.

Meanwhile, Monze district commissioner Joyce Nondo Musokotwane is appealing for anyone with a PF membership card to sell it to her.

Speaking in an interview, a senior messenger in the moffice of the district commissioner said Mrs. Nondo has been looking for a PF card three days of PF’s rule in government.

The officer said the DC is ready to work with the government of the day and is willing to hold PF membership.

“The madam is asking for where she can buy a PF card and she has asked me to find anyone with information”, the officer said.

“You know that these DC’s are cadres who are appointed by politicians not that thery are senior government officials, but yes they are but for me, they are just cadres”, he added.

“Even me i was surprised when i heard this but i cannot blame her because these DC’s do not know their fate after change of government and I don’t think MMD will ever claim the governance of the country.

I think MMD will be the next UNIP and people should never be cheated that these two former ruling parties will ever rule Zambia again,” the officer added.

  1. Ba Senior, look at your St.pid statement and I paste: flag Senior Citizen says:
Sat Sep 10 at 9:33 am

“HOW SATA LOST IT IN HIS LAST ATTEMPT” Starting October 25, 2011 i will start writting a book titled “HOW SATA LOST IT IN HIS LAST ATTEMPT, A CURSE OF ILLITERACY AND PATHOLOGICAL LYING”
Depending on quotations of good publishers, the book should be out before January 2012.
It will chronicle the insanity of Sata and his failure to fool rational actors in the country.

  2. That is soo true Mr Nyangu. Not only are they weak hearted but in reality they never were MMD to begin with but just opportunists that’ll get into any bus thats goes vroom vroom. They say some change their party to suit their principles, others change their principles to suit their party-these guys had neither the principles nor a party but just empty opportunism just to get to parliament & to earn a paycheck.

  3. The difference with UNIP and MMD is that unip had assets like freedom house and they like yet they finished completely. MMD in 20 years pocketed the money and built lodges to promote protitution for each one of themselves.

They have no base or no with Charisma to who people anymore so the party is dead. as in dead. I dont think there is even a member that would attempt to risk reviving it.

Just look to Chipimo to form the next big opposition is he can can a loud mouthed person to support him.
    Cheers

    • Why should we get another yanga manki for the next president? Chipimo does not even have a councillor for his Yo! Party.

      Sata Nyoko

  4. IWE KA NYANGU JUST GO AHEAD AND SHOW US HOW YOU WILL REGROUP AND BEAT PF GOVERNMENT WITHOUT RB AND NATIONAL TREASURY.
BA KOLWEE YOU ALL DESREVE TO BE THROWN IN THE SEA FOR THE DAMAGE DONE TO THIS NATION,,,OR ELSE JUST KEEP QUIET.

  5. Yaa No 2 Benz you make me laugh. Ba senior citizen is busy cleaning his a.nus with his index finger. Doenst know what has happned like so many of his colleages. Even too scared to go and see their boss to say bye and thanks for the time.

  6. Allow me to use a biology analogy of what is going on. Parasites will remain in a host until the host ceases to provide nourishment, or support. Most parasites are equipped to “jump ship” in the event that the host no longer carries the capacity to support them. Hence they will seek transitional hosts to carry them to their next feeding stop.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the reality of our Zambian politics.

  7. It`s alright to leave. But where are they going? Unless they are going to join Elias Chipimo they are too late for the Boat.

  8. But who told this woman chancer that PF has card? What is she upto. Sound funny you know. For MMD I just wish you guys all the best in the opposition. No one in PF will welcome rotten thugs from MMD. Just wait until you are followed to account for the stealing. I end here!

  9. Does any one know the whereabouts of Senior Citizen or Capitalist? I hope this hopeless chap hasnt committed suicide. I have asked FB to assist me locate him, I have a wonderful message for him, that my president His Excellence Sata will perform better than his predicessor, the degree holder in economics or is it enocomics, which ever. Nyangu, forget about coming back to power, we need you in opposition forever and ever.

  10. Sir, no need to tell us what your part members are  doing now on the ground,, coz you will become like RB who used to repeat his friends slogan everywhere he goes,, not knowing that he was making his friend known. Thanks officer,, I never knew DCs are just cadre.

    poor politician

  11. You’re such bad losers ba MMD. You thought Zambians couldn’t remove you from power. Where is your red lipped Kunda, Dora, and all? RB will go down in history for sending MMD to the archives cause that’s where you belong. Any party but MMD or UNIP would be progressive for Zambia after PF’s time is up.

  12. RB killed MMD by incorporating at the same time both corruption & the actecturer of it FTJ. MMD has massive potential to rebrand & come back to power depending on how PF works or implements its programmes in between now & 2016 or atleast 10 yrs from now. But if its 10 yrs from now knowing Zed politicians they may all quit MMD and join the ruling party for survival. Otherwise the potential lies in MMD electing young vibrant leadership in the names of Felix Mutati,Konga ,Musokwatani, Dr.Canisus Mbewe, Dr Chituwo,Muteteka,Dr Kazonga,Maureen Mwanawasa should regroup & most urgently bring back Magande to head it now. Red lip though potenially a moving corps,VJ, Machungwa, BY,Dora,Shikashiwa & the likes must be thrown in the dust bin. Zero tolerance to corruption & job creation shud be preached

  13. # 18 i agree with you entirely, in fact Rb has gone down in history as sending MMD to the archives and since they did not acquire any assets as a party they even face a greater challenge – finances. Now some members are even running away… the party is slowly disintegrating but since they missed the boat ride let them just run and keep running we dont care, we do not want to see their recycled faces in NAREP or any of the new upcoming parties, They had their time let them give chance to others.

  14. The blindness with which the MMD zealots went into this election was without precedent! I mean, what other manner of gutless s.t.u.p.i.d.i.t.y could ever surpass such “masalamusi?” When all could clearly see that their Monkey-Toilet was leading them to a seismic rendezvous with armageddon, they stayed steady-fast in their self delusional suicide pact that they were herding for a victorious wonderland with their king, one Bwezani of Gwanda! He went round the provincial conferences doctoring the candidate list and results thinking he could fool Zambians like he could fool his MMD goons, now he is sorry, leaking his wounds, alone! The next thing is for Thandiwe to dump him because without money, power and a groinery libido, what has he to offer the spinster?

  15. The MMD failed to transform from the movement it was of 1991 to a political party and it also lost most of its original ideals and members, hence its demise in the hads of a UNIP zealot, RB!!!! In just three years at the helm, he has sent it to its grave!!!!

  16. SATA is another UNIP man who failed to remain in MMD.
People are calling on SATA to stop the PF huliganism going on where people viewed to be MMD supporters are being victimised.
But rthe question is how can SATA ever deal with this issue positively when he may be the one encouraging these thugs.
SATA was the man behind Nakawala saga during the THIRD TERM bidif your memory still serves you well.
SATA by nature has thuggery mentality and if you think that he can change because he is in state house, you are making a mistake, that is if you are not simply completely lost.
Some people will not be disappointed even if SATA messes up the country because they know he could do so.
But the majority will be disappointed because they are unable to see trouble before it comes.

  17. Senior Citizen and MMD Bootlicker were put off by Andrew Banda (son of the half-term former president) who condemned MMD officials for deserting his father after his humiliating defeat.
What else can Senior Citizen say, he must be crying like a baby just as Rupiah did.

  18. MMD should re-eneregize, re-brand and reorganize. 55 seats in parley is no joke. We have the capacity to provide adequate checks on the current regime. Zambian democracy has matured. People shouldnt choose parties based on opportunism but on fundamental philophical beliefs. We failed, we must lick our wounds but stand our ground. We paid heavily for our stupidity in allowing the cardre culture to eat at our very core. Cardres at stations, markets and demarcating land! Corruption must not go unpunished, we admit. But MMD must re-energize. Young leadership must come to the fore (Felix Mutati my choice). Change of name recommended. We have a legacy to protect. Middle income status, 7% inflation, many economic fundamentals back on track. PF has found $2 million in reserves, etc. MMD 4 life.

  19. I was tickled to read in the Post that Mangani was among the entourage that was at the State house to officially welcome president Sata. These Politicians have no shame!

  20. BA MMD MULIFIPUBA, HOW CAN YOU START AN ELECTION POSTMORTEM WHEN THE CAUSE OF THE LOSS IS VERY CLEAR (ARROGANCY AND STUPIDITY). NO NEED FOR A POSTMORTEM JUST BLAME YOUR FOOLISHNESS AND ARROGANCY. AS FOR BOUNCING BACK IN POWER – FORGET…. THANKS TO THE OBNOXIOUSNESS OF DORA, RED LIP,ST.PIDY SHIKAP…HA AND THE IMPORTED RB. YOU WILL NEVA RULE ZAMBIA AGAIN. DONT THINK ZAMBIAN ARE FOOLISH….

  21. MMD IS FINISHED. UNIP was a better Organised party than MMD. MMD cadres are all gone and all those chitenges are in the toilets TODAY. If FDD can die silently why not MMD?

    As for UPND:

DEMOCRACY– IT”S GOODBYE TO HH. WE now Need A NEW CANDIDATE for 2016

IT is now time for HH to give chance to other UPND members. HH can’t be recycled all the time while others are just standing and watching

Im joining UNPD and my aim is to stand as president. No one will stand in my way. HH’s time and chances are all now over.

  22. RB came from UNIP. UNIP died and RB simply slipped into MMD and in three years he has managed to Kill it. We salute RB for finishing up their rival. All old UNIPists will feast at RB farm for Mission accomplished. “They killed Us, We have Killed them the OSAMA WAy”
and buried them in the sea. They will never rise up again.

  23. For the sake of our democracy, it would be good to have a strong opposition to check on the govt. This is the case in USA and UK. If MMD’s 55 MPs and UPND’s 28 MPs remained in their parties, it would be unwise to write off these parties. Their chances can be enhanced even more if PF fails to govern properly or to deliver. So PF’s performance will have a say on the future of MMD and UPND. This is a good check on PF itself, good for democracy.

  24. Can the demise of UNIP give us a clue as to the fate awaiting the MMD? In most developed democracies, power shifts from one party to the other. The party that loses an election today, bounces back into power tomorrow. UNIP left a different legacy. It lost power and went into oblivion. What are the factors that led to this? Is MMD fated to go the UNIP way or is it likely to bounce back?

  25. #38 Ikandulwa, very good point.

Its possible MMD will not die like UNIP. The biggest reason UNIP died was ideological. UNIP practiced socialism in the guise of Humanism. Socialism by and large died across the world, though shades of it survive here and there, like Europena social democrats etc.

PF, MMD, UPND are basically the same ideologically. The modern ideology of market oriented phylosophy, capitalist albeit with a degree of human face depending on the party. This is why members of these parties have dined together at variuos points.

MMD would only die if her MPs migrated in search of jobs. But if they can have a good leader, they stand a chance of bouncing back to power in 2016. With 55 MPs all they need is a leader that can sell.

  26. UK Zed Observer, I agree with you totally! The ace up MMD’s sleave for me is Felix Mutati….rumor has it, he could take the MMD helm, rebrand and reenergize the 55 MPs and do some serious damage should PF faulter. At the moment, Zambian politics is in a state of Euphoria reeling from the PF landslide. So all stakeholders a patiently waiting, of course hoping for the best for PF, but ready to hit hard should any problems arise.

    • Agreed that Mutati Felix has a fair chance in MMD! But he should be bold enough to raise his hand! Potentially great leaders have gone under having been overtaken with lack of confidence.

  27. #40 Realist. Cheers!

In the West, MMd would have nothing to worry about. PF only have 60 MPs, MMD has 55 and UPND 28. MMD and PF stand equal chances at winning 2016. 5 sits is not a big difference, especially that in 2016 PF will be judged on performance, not on criticing. It is easier to criticise than to perform. 2011 could be the most popular PF has been. Trust me. I have seen these things here in the UK.

The greatest challenge to MMD is holding onto their MPs. In the West this would not have been a problem as political parties are based on ideological beliefs so a Conservative cannot just become a Labour or a Democrat change to a Reublican. Politics of poverty are the biggest threat to our democracy in Zambia.

    • In our loved mother Africa, one never knows whether or not is a case of pessimistic opportunism or opportunistic pessimism. Put simply, it is politics of bluff and counter-bluff! I hope we grow out of it…soon

  28. Actually, PF’s win is not even a landslide, like we had in 1991. They are quite vulnerable to how they perform in govt. if people became disillusioned, they could end up with fewer seats. Which could go to the opposition. If i were Sata, I would be very careful.

  29. I THINK THE NEW BREED OF VOTERS,THE YOUNG GENERATION WILL NEVER VOTE 4 MMD…SO THE PARTY IS FINISHED….ELIAS CHIPIMO JUNIOR STANDS A BETTER CHANCE THAN MMD,UPND COMBINED…..SHUD PF FAIL…..ELIAS CHIPIMO JR WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT BELIEVE ME…..

    • How come the Yos did not vote for Chipimo?  He did not even get a single seat!  Were the kaponyas wary of getting Yos and Hoes into Parley?

  30. Can PF introduce membership cards? I want to buy one! When is the cabinet being annouced. Why take so long?

  31. LT check your spellings please. It is supposed to be “leaving” and not living the party.
Back to the topic I plead with the President HE MCS not to reappoint any of the PS/DPS (especially for NWP, CB, SP etc) and any of the DCs who were in the fore front insulting MCS and even supporting chanda chimba by distributing chanda chimba’s newspaper. The P.S and their deputies for the these named provinces must not be reappointed at all costs. I really felt bad for my President at the manner they used to conduct themselves towards him and the things they used to say about him and us his supporters during campain times

  32. I hear Ka siulapwa has run awy to the USA. What about ka Chanda Chimba? where is he? Can someone please tell me the wherabout of chand chimbwi. The thug must come back to defend himself and help rebuild MMD by continuing with his useless programme stand up for MMD and RB

  33. #46 Ba truth hurts, Siulapwa was just a politician like Sata who attacked others on platform. Why should you start asking for his blood just because fate has put Sata in the hot seat. Years will soon be over, you might be cadres who will be sought and sorted out after your time is up. Remember: There is time for everything!!! So please may you concentrate on giving the Zambian people what they want and stop spending that precious time seeking vengeance.

  34. In electing Sata, Zambia has joined the dishonourable and laughable banana republics of Zimbabwe, Iran and Venezuela.  We are a laughing stock of the World!  Zambia is finished.

    Sata Nyoko!

  35. MMD’s fortunes going forward will depend on the leadership it puts in place. Leaders can inspire or cause despair! The loss of funding and loss of jobs by being out of power will take its toll and one can expect a number of members at every level to seek greener pastures.

It is quite unlikely that MMD will bounce back to power in the next elections and the longer it stays in opposition, the more likely it is to wind up as UNIP…some say the MMD under Rupiah was merely UNIP Reloaded anyway!

  36. Kaunda was UNIP: Chiluba was UNIP: Mwanawasa was UNIP: Banda was UNIP and yours truly Sata was UNIP …………… long live UNIP….. the Tune is the same but the title is different. When will Zambia ever have a new leader not a UNIP recycled product.
