UNDER 23 THURSDAY UPDATE

Share

The Zambia under 23 today wrapped-up its two-day training camp in Kitwe and left for Lusaka ahead of Saturdays’ All Africa Games football tournament final leg qualifier against Mozambique U23 at Nkoloma stadium.

The side completed its training schedule in Kitwe Thursday morning with a 4-0 win over Kitwe Unied in a training game played at Garden Park.

Two braces from midfielders Stophira Nsunzu and Rainford Kalaba secured the Under 23’s victory over United.

Meanwhile, the squad is expected to be joined in Lusaka tomorrow, Friday by striker Given Singuluma of South African 1st division club Bay United.

Singuluma is one of two foreign-based players called-up for this game and he failed to turn up today and yesterday when he couldn’t secure a confirmed seat on any flight from South Africa to Zambia.

The striker is the Under 23’s key player up-front after scoring five goals for the team in four matches including one in the 4-0 away 1st leg win over Mozambique on March 31.

The other foreign-based player who is already in camp is goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje of South African top-flight club Lamonville Golden Arrows.

17 players in all are in camp for the game against Mozambique.

A win or draw on Saturday will see Zambia through to the Algeria All Africa Games tournament this July.

  1. Considering the opponents that we have in the All Africa games of Egypt,Algeria and Senegal, we should have a formidable defense and a tight mid field and an agressive front line like the way the boys have shown.

Good luck to you boys.I also think the under 20 have less than 2 months to start the prep for Cananda. FAZ is aware of this and should start now and we need a plan for the all national teams because they have competitions going on that will bring honours to Zambia.

  3. First and foremost hats-off to Lusaka Times for the good work you are doing. Please keep up with good work.

A piece of advice to the under-23 lads. Take this game as serious as any other crucial fixture where you need a convincing win and training ground for the finals in Algeria.

To Peter “Abaleya” Kaumba this is the time to shape up the team. We still remember when you were voted best left winger in Africa in 1982 and your best performance at 1982 Libya Arica Cup finals. Always remember to have a strategic winger you have all the knowlege to develop one

Good luck Chipolopolo bring hounour to mother Zambia and I shout GO CHIPOLOPOLO
