Guy Scott

Vice President Guy Scott has revealed that the PF government will table the Freedom of Information bill before Parliament within 90 days. Dr Scott was speaking to Journalists at State House shortly after witnessing the swearing in of Lieutenant General Paul Mihova as Army Commander.

Dr Scott said that there was no reason for opposition political parties to frustrate the Patriotic Front in Parliament.

Dr Scott who is leader of government business in the house said that the PF will only table progressive bills aimed at delivering development to people of Zambia.

The Vice President said that he saw no reason why any elected Members of Parliament should frustrate progressive pieces of legislation such as the Freedom of Information bill.

Dr Scott says if the opposition in Parliament deliberately blocks bills which will be tabled by the PF, the ruling party will have no choice but to tell the Zambian people what their elected representatives are doing in Parliament.

  1. Lieutenant General Paul Mihova , is this a Zambian name? Is it true that we have an Indian for Army Commander as the Zambian Watchdog has reported?

    • Dear Willian, what you are diaplaying is Xenophobia. The World has moved on, my friend and you’d better try and catch up. For you information, the President of USA is a son of a Kenyan man.

  2. I support that idea os exposing MP’s who want to oppose because their are in “opposition”. Expose them to their constituency and we will see who will vote for them next time around. All rigging “loop holes” have been sealed.

  3. This is good news. Opposition parties will stand to benefit, just as ordinary Zambians will. So its hard to persive strong objection to this bill, Dr Scott.

  4. that is the way a nation should be managed – IN THE INTEREST OF THE CITIZENS – and NOT for PERSONAL FINANCIAL REASONS.

    VIVA PF and PRESIDENT SATA.

  5. I like Guy Scott. I wish there was a way of him becoming president of Zambia when Sata leaves office. Scott is more Zambian that most of us.

  6. Why not take the bull by the horns and ban all opposition parties? I thought that the people of Zambia who voted for the opposition parties also have the right for their opinions to be heard? Why should they just rubber stamp everything coming from the pf govt when it does not have the majority in the house?

    • Its not about rubber stamping but supporting sensible legislature that will not only protect the Zambian citizens today but also in future when PF is out of power. The opposition parties opinion must be heard however with sense and not JUST for the sake of being heard.

  7. Number 7 I am insulted for you to state that Scott in more Zambian than most of us just by my blood line I am More Zambian than he is. His parents are not Zambian his brothers are not Zambian so lets not get the madness of shouting anything. While I respect him for staying in Zambia while his brothers chose to leave for white ruled South Africa I will not accept that he is more Zambian than me. This is one person who was suspected during the Rhodesia days to have permitted Sailor Scouts to land on his Walkover Estate to attack Zambians so dont give me that story he is more Zambian. we accept he is playing his part but by no means is he more Zambian

  8. Thankx for PF to stick to the agenda. MMD now in opposition shall see the need for the bill to be passed. Guys please support this noble course or the media shall be PF stooge again.

  9. No.2 . General Paul Mihova is Luvale from North Western Province and his Deputy is a Tonga from Southern Province. Am not sure watchdog mentioned anywhere about him being Indian except that his Deputy was defence attache at the Zambian Embassy in India

  10. Our VP has spoken, Interest of the Citizens not Selfish MPs who think being an MP is an opportunity to plunder and get rich. Expose all non performing MP who even sleep in Parliament. Give them Defined Deliverables/Balance scorecards. Well done tell these MPs with PULL HIM DOWN attitude to behave themselves.

  11. After this bill is past, Churches will need to divulge their financial information when requested by any Zambian citizen. Reason, they receive public funds.

    It will be interesting.

  12. @ number 2 please dont talk from without. the new army commander is a zambian from zambezi district a luvale by tribe.

  13. Lt. General Mihova is from NW. There is no Indian in our army command post. The papers said a Zambian defence attache in at our embassy in India.

  14. @7 Real,

You can be born in zm with all your brothers in Zambia but busy robbing the poor, denying Zambians justice etc  and yet you call yourself a Zambian. In the past if you steal or commit an offence equivalent to corruption, you would be thrown out of the village so that you become a foreigner while if a stranger behaves in a manner that pleases the people in the village, he would be welcomed into the village as part of the family. so being born in country means nothing if your contribution to that country is counter productive. It is as good as being a chinese shooting our Zambian workers

  15. YES! ITS TRUE. DR GUY SCOTT IS PRACTICALLY MORE ZAMBIAN THAN THE CORRUPT AND THIEVING BLACK ZAMBIANS THEMSELVES. YES, THOSE MPs WHO WILL BE HINDERING PROGRESSIVE BILLS MUST BE EXPOSED TO THEIR ELECTRATES.

  16. Hello lest we fall asleep, even some good bills have to be opposed if the will Cost the tax payers unnecessary expense. This BILL though is a good one, that way ZNBC can castigate SATA and opposition leaders alike.

  17. I think Zambians at times dwell on euphoria a little too much. Not all that glitters is gold, and gold is not always good either. Let the goverment work for all period.

  18. PF promised Mrs Clinton that this will be tabled as soon as they come to power. The MMD govt through George Kunda were jittery and developed cold feet about this. Next will be the unemployment statistics bill. We need to know how many Zambians are unemployed. This bill was tabled by a PF private member but George said it was meant to embarrass the government. So PF, go with it!
By the way, Judge Matibini will be replaced by work.

  19. When is the New Gov going to tackle (not tako yamubola ba the bwalya) the issue of DUAL CITIZEN SHIP? Please Mr President, nalya amafi yenu we really need it to be free most of us in Diaspora. You can Imagine paying $50 to get in Zed and given 30 days from ba Pompwee at the immigration to stay mukati. Meanwhile aba yuda are busy waiting to get a cut from you upon arrival ati shita ubwalwa.
