Share

Zambezi Airlines Boeing 737-500 aircraft

Zambezi Airline has challenged the suspension of its air service permit.

The Airline has sort judicial review over the matter in the Lusaka High Court.

Zambezi airline is seeking a court order to quash the decision by transport, works and supply Permanent Secretary, Dominic Sichinga to suspend the airline service permit.

Zambezi Airline has contended that the suspension of it airline permit is illegal as it lacks jurisdiction.

The Airline has also argued that Director of Civil Aviation acted illegally by invoking legislation which has not been enacted in Zambia to arrive at the suspension of the permit.

Zambezi Airline has also lamented that the verdict to suspend the air permit was defiance of the rule of Natural justice as the airline was not given an opportunity to be heard.

  1. @1 Musoli??? Is it about hate for your fellow Zambian? What I have seen as Zambians is that we hate to see someone succeed in anything. I am PF but truly the Airline was never given a chance. This is our local airline owned by Zambians, Please learn to have the heart and support your brothers and sisters to succeed in Life. Hate will never bring you any Blessing.
Let the Airline Start operation and we can tell them where they fall short. Jungulo and other Stakeholders at Zambezi are our own brothers. Honestly you what to make Kenya or Ethiopian Reach?? Be serious and have love for your brothers.

    • From your comments, it is very apparent that you have never flown on zambezi airlines or if you have you have not flown on antother airline to compare it to. If you have you would understand #1’s point of view. PLANES ARE NOT LIKE A BUSES!!! that when it breaks down you get off and wait for repairs. If people die in a plane crash due to poolry maintained planes, is brotherly love going to bring them back? Lets not accept substandard service and planes just because they are zambians

    • @Ndine?? I have used Zambezi; I live in a country with worlds 5 start airlines?? Have done a lot of research on this just that we cannot say much online. The Equipment (Aircrafts) for Zambezi is not old and in bad state as portrayed. Their serious Problem is Management and schedule of Flights. I suggest we form a Zambian Advisory Social Group on Linked in, for true advice and comments that we can write to each other.
Poor Management does not mean dangerous Planes, they have 737-500 which are new.

    • @ sheikh, But where were their planes when was forced to land in Livingstone. I Missed my connecting flight to lesotho because of a technical fault on their new plane. A week later am reading about people who were stranded at KK international. Whether the problem is technical or administrative it all impinges on passenger safety. A badly managed new plane and crew is as dangerous as a badly managed old one. Sometimes these guys need to be ‘shocked’ into action. This incompetence has been going for almost a year.

  2. “The Airline has sort judicial review over the matter in the Lusaka High Court.” You meant sought, right? I miss the late Marta Paynter who would give you a hiding for writing such nonsense in a report and putting it out so shamelessly!!! Journalism my @#$%e

  3. It is a shame that as a people and a Government, we cannot support our own. This is a flagrant decision of bring him down, by certain interested parties led by the sichinga clan. SHAME!!!

  4. Why is it that every new president in Zambia always closes an airline under his administration. Why are not closing down the chines owned mines which have claimed lives? Shame that we can’t support  our Zambian companies?

  5. @ SHEIKH, I like your comments mostly but on this one you have missed it my br. I know the Airline well. There are things they did not work on for a long time. Remember the case of that Airline to Comoros (of Yemen)? If I sat one on one with you, we could share a lot. I support the Zambians in business a lot because thats the only sure way of developing a country but there things we need to put in practice. God bless.

  6. @Sheik I think the airline needs to put its house in order. It is not a matter of not supporting a Zambian company but the risk of losing lives in an air crash is to hard to imagine. The licence is suspended and reasons advanced for the action. All Zambezi needs to do is quickly sort out these observations and have the licence restored. If after taking care of reasons for suspension the licence is not given back the I will definetly agree with your points. My advice is for Zambezi to work on the observations

  7. @7 Considerate & @9Kyenda, Thanks for functional contribution, Much appreciate and shows your true passion for Zambia, I Agree with both your comments, Just that felt @1 went abit hush for His fellow countrymen.
Zambian Government needs to resolve this matter ASAP as it may be a loss for Zambians (Jobs and also tourism), especially that Emirates starts on 1st Feb. with Initial arrangements that Zambezi feeds them with domestic Passengers, Also Congo and other Neighboring Countries. What surprised me was how they quickly did an Audit on Zambezi with hardly a month in Power. Hope the decision was not based on HEAR- SAY.
Let Zambezi act quickly as suggested by many. God Bless.

  8. #7 and # 10. It is true that we need to support our fellow Zambians but, it should not be at putting other fellow Zambians at risks. Several people that have used zambezi have attested that the planes are like doba-doba and with several uncessary delays. Fore.g they recently introduced a direct flight from Cape town to Lusaka, if you go the so-called offices its like a makeshift..they open at 05.00 in the morning and close at 08.00 hours. Honestly..all in the name of avoinding to pay rental for the buildings. Ok that aside, the actual planes have been reported not be of the acceptable standards. I prefer to use SA rather than Zambezi. at least the former Zambian airways was far much better than the Zambezi, unfortunately, it was closed by RB and his regimes, Hatred of Nchito & Membe.MDs

  9. In my view, Let Zambezi sort out its so called problems …..if they will be denied the Licence then we shall call it polical motivated for now, Zambezi needs to clean its house, taking to court will merely enrich Lawyers who need the money for legal service anyway. …suspension is different from closing indefinately…so they still have a chance.

  10. I have been a frequent flier with Zambezi Airlines, nearly once every month and often twice and can confirm that many of the govt’s assertions are correct. As things stand they still owe me money for a cancelled flight. I am proudly Zambia and no fan of SAA but the current situation where the prevailing operational sloppiness and disregard for aviation standards simply cannot be allowed to stand. Readers use your heads and not your emotions.

  11. We were due to fly on Nov 7th to Livingstone. Had to fly South African Airways. I want to know when Zambezi Air is going to refund our money??? It was a costly holiday to Victoria Falls.
    Eric & Joyce Alsop.

  12. I also am waiting for a refund. We live in kariba and were due to fly mid Dec to Cape Town and only found out by accident that the flights had been cancelled, they had all our details but did not bother to let us know. We had to make alternative arrangements at the last minute and at great cost. What kind of an airline is that ?
