Renard Seeks New Revelation On India Trip

Share

Herve Renard says he hopes there will be at least one revelation from the 20-man team of mostly home-based players who fly out on Tuesday for a one-week tour of India.

And Renard also revealed that he has failed to secure training time for Zambia at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria for their pre-2012 Africa Cup training camp starting next month.

The Zambia coach said after the first training session at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka on Monday morning that the team also lacked competition for most playing positions.

“It won’t be easy for anyone and I really hope we find a good revelation to compete like on the left back we have only Joseph Musonda,” Renard said.

“The team travelling to India needs to show us what they are able to do because some players in the team think they already have seats.

“I will be very happy to find one or two players and it is very important to see if we can put some of them in the squad to compete with the players.”

Focus especially on this two-match tour will fall on the Nkana’s Under-20 attacking duo of Evans Kangwa and Reynold Kampamba who have scored 16 and 9 goals in all competition this season.

Meanwhile, Renard said the HPC was fully booked between now and the start of the Africa Cup on January 21.

“We will use the facilities of Wits before like we did before we went to Nigeria,” he said.

Zambia held a four-day training camp at Wits last week before playing Nigeria in a friendly away in Kaduna in Renard’s first assignment that his team lost 2-0 on November 15.

  1. A waste of money. India is not a competitive football country. Why not pick any South American country for friendly, a least you are assured of a quality match in which you can learn a thing or two.

  2. #.1. Common sense will tell you that Cricket and not Soccer in India. I think this is an invitation paid for by the Indians with some appearance fees for FAZ. Thats the only thing which makes sense playing bola Ku India.

  3. We should plan in advance…and surely its not the job of the coach to look for training centers…organisation is either learnt or born with…FAZ seems have neither of them…

  4. I v read thru the article..it is not clear if this trip is paid for by india…I agree with you guys..this is pooor planning…we have two months before the touney..so we must be fine turning the team; simulating real conditions…pitch and playing conditions, tempt, humidity ,air pressure (this affect oxgen intake) etc..and getting tested by tough opposition… what can we get from the chili boys…I have leant how to manage my expectation when it comes to national team..I always expect chipolopolo to be kicked out in the first rount at afcon..if the go next stage..im more than satisfied..I dont expect this team to win the cup at afcon

  5. So you failed to secure a booking at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria, yet the FAZ president lives in South Africa, damn you Kalusha! Are we also supposed to be playing Cricket at AFCON I wonder? Why are these boys going to India – I tell you this is Tourism at it’s best, and folks get ready for the worst humiliation at AFCON. Please don’t invest your emotions in these boys and collapse when they are hammered, I beg you. Save your hearts for your bread and butter issues.

  6. when you are offered or paid for something, obviously you accept. KCM owned by indians has offered those two friendly matches with india otherwise it wasnt FAZs idea and no option but to accept. I havent seeing anything wrong with a comment at #5 that KATUBI is complaining. #5 is right.

  7. I remember such an invitation from India about 15 years ago and the Zambian were beaten clean by the Indian team. Some of you bloggers wont remember because you were babies.

  8. Indians have played with some of the big clubs and players from Europe. They are fast improving their soccer and it is a craze in some parts of India. Don’t underestimate them and it is worthwhile to play teams and environment that is very different from well known.

All the best to the team and players.

  9. Many of these bloggers are young and do not know much about Zambian soccer history. The national team has been to India before and yes Busakile Man they lost all the training games they had there. The timing could be wrong but it is a training session and fully paid for so why miss out.

  10. Ba Katongo and Busakile man, didn’t the Indian team come to Zambia and played at Dag and lost 2-1 or something like that. It is a long time ago
