Sata promises to restore operations of Munali Mine as he questions source of HH wealth

File : President Sata arrives for the thanks giving mass at Ignatius

PRESIDENT Sata says he has found investors to take over operations of Mazabuka’s Munali Nickel Mine, which was recently put under care and maintenance for the second time.
The move is aimed at saving a number of jobs that are at risk of being lost at the mine.

Mr Sata announced this when he addressed a campaign rally in Magoye yesterday to drum up support for Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Eugene Munyama in the November 28 parliamentary by-election.

At the peak of the global financial crisis in 2009 the mine was put under care and maintenance and only resumed production in March 2010.

But just a few days ago the mine stopped production due to insolvency.

The President told scores of Magoye residents who attended the rally that they should vote as they wish and that he will not force them to vote for Mr Munyama. He, however said should Mr Munyama win he would appoint him Southern Province Minister.

“If you people here still trust Hakainde Hichilema (UPND president), it is not my problem. It is your problem. It is up to you to reject him (Mr Munyama), the choice is yours. You have had your own UPND MPs for 10 years but you have seen what they have done for you. Southern Province is one of the richest and if we work together as one, the sky is the limit,” Mr Sata said.

Mr Sata instructed Southern Province permanent secretary In’utu Suba to advertise for feasibility studies for the Magoye, Mazabuka-Nampundwe Mine and the Mazabuka-Itezhi Tezhi roads.

He said UPND MPs have no solution to the animal diseases that have continued to ravage the province.

Mr Sata said if elected, Mr Munyama will find it easy to access funds for development from Government.

The President cautioned Mr Munyama against neglecting the people once elected MP.

[pullquote]“When I was in MMD government, the late Ronald Penza picked him (Mr Hichilema) to sell parastatals. We gave him Luanshya Mine to sell but we have never seen the money. We gave him Lima Bank to sell but he got a house for Lima Bank and that is the one he lives in. We gave him to sell Kagem Mine but we don’t know how much he sold it. We gave him to sell Intercontinental Hotel in Livingstone but today he is the chairman of Sun Hotel (the former Intercontinental Hotel).[/pullquote]

“When you go to Parliament don’t just go to drink tea and beer. Speak for the silent majority. Some people go to Parliament and forget where they come from. I am talking from experience because I was MP for 20 years and I know problems of MPs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Sata has questioned Mr Hichilema’s source of wealth after the latter chaired the Zambia Privatisation Agency, which was responsible for selling Government companies and institutions.

However, Mr Hichilema could not be reached for comment on his mobile by press time.

“When I was in MMD government, the late Ronald Penza picked him (Mr Hichilema) to sell parastatals. We gave him Luanshya Mine to sell but we have never seen the money. We gave him Lima Bank to sell but he got a house for Lima Bank and that is the one he lives in. We gave him to sell Kagem Mine but we don’t know how much he sold it. We gave him to sell Intercontinental Hotel in Livingstone but today he is the chairman of Sun Hotel (the former Intercontinental Hotel).

“Today Mr Hichilema has more than 75,000 animals in Southern Province. Where did he get those animals?” Mr Sata wondered.

Mr Sata said Mr Hichilema has no track record of political experience and that he assumed the UPND’s leadership using money.

The President reiterated that in 2009 Mr Hichilema formed the pact with the PF in the hope that he would lead the alliance in the event that Mr Sata died.  “After seeing that I did not die in 2010 he left,” he said.

Mr Sata said shortly before the September 20 tripartite elections, the UPND leader started peddling lies that he had died.  Mr Sata also dismissed Mr Hichilema’s claims that he (Mr Sata) is tribalist.

He said he is determined to address problems of all Zambians regardless of their tribe because hunger does not choose tribe.

Mr Sata also said he has appointed a number of people from other tribes to key decision-making positions.

To demonstrate this, Mr Sata announced that he has appointed former minister in the UNIP government Frederick Hapunda as a diplomat.

Speaking at the same rally Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Given Lubinda said Mr Hichilema hijacked the UPND and that he has been peddling lies because it has become difficult for him to lead the opposition political party.

The PF local leadership commended Mr Sata for choosing Mazabuka as his first place to visit outside Lusaka after winning the September 20 tripartite elections.
And speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Chief Hanjalika, Mr Sata also instructed Minister of Agriculture Emmanuel Chenda to buy tractors, which will be given to traditional rulers to lease them out to farmers.

  1. Abesu, though i doubt if the mindset of thoz tongas will change coz they r still in dreamland thinking under 5 hh will one day rule this country

  2. Sata says he has found investors to take over operations of Mazabuka’s Munali Nickel Mine.
The man single handledly found investors? He is now accusing HH, sata you mean there ws no system in place of how much and where the money cud be deposited after the sale? That shows how ugly your system has been

  3. You can say whatever you want. We already know that the current government is the worst tribal government Zambia has ever had and yet you keep on accusing us of tribalism. We will not vote for Munyama, sorry. We want real change not change that is all about boosting bemba hegemony. Where did you get all those houses you own in Avondale yourself? How come Chiluba your best friend was a thief and you are not? You even wanted to forgive him. PF won not because you are mister clean, but because pipo were just fed up with your former corrupt party MMD, the corrupt culture of which was a result of your friend Chiluba.

  4. Stop complaining people, you are getting on my nerves. You are the ones who voted for him, he didn’t force you to vote for him.

    • well said, they voted and now they are complaining, naked they celebrated hoping they would be in clothes the following day, to date nothing happening,,,those who know him are laughing at those who jubilated ,so lets stop complaining…

  5. Sata please, If HH aquired those riches from stealing why is he not in jail? If you do not know where he took the money that he sold the Bank, hotel, Mine etc. why did you keep on appointing him on boards to sell such assets? You held a position above HH,whose responsibility was it to bring HH to book?
Mr president sir its education and different values that matter HH invested in wealthy who knows maybe you invested in your stomach and women. As for telling lies to magoy voters you need to be careful. I come fom Magoye, my farm is there. People of southern p. are not like those in Northern who make decisions based on their stomachs they use brains because Tulalichelela. Even visiting Hanjalika will not make any difference. Chief Hanjalika is my grand father…..

  6. Very good move Mr. President. Personally I have been at the mine, and trully you have rescued 200 zambian jobs. Thank you for that. I will preclude myself from commenting on HH as that is more of a personal attack than a national one. If were addressed to the UPND we would be concerned.

  7. Why are blacks called by their English names?

I asked this I need answers.

ANy father that calls his child by an English name or has an English name as their first name should bury their head in their hands and be ashamed of themelves

    Mushota Chimfwembe Yes

I am disgusted when I hear an African let alone a zambian with an English name, where are your routes?

    Thanks

  8. …..You have found investors to take over operations at Munali nickel? How may pipo you were addressing have anything to do with Munali? Some of them don’t even know that there is any Munali mine somewhere. We Tongas are never influenced by Chiefs. Its onlu in poor areas like Northern and luapula where a chief has more value than they deserve

  9. Hmmm – govt now questioning wealth acquired from ZPA – wapya munzi, ninshi na ba Valentine Chitalu ma skeletons will now come to haunt him, he was also deeply involved in ZPA privatizations!

  10. y are the people complaining about tribalism when in actual fact HH is the mastermind of it. please just give Sata a chance of his five yr term

  11. Mr. Sata never ceases to amuse me. Surely can he today say and accuse others of being tribalists when he together with Chiluba and Kangwa Nsuluka during by election campaign for Malole in 1993 told the bembas not to vote for Emmanuel Kasonde because he (Kasonde recontesting on National Party ticket then under Dr. Inonge Mbukusita Lewanika) was going to sale the bembas to the Lozis. Can we as Zambians change the way we look at issues, we still find joy joy in politics of character assassination. We should have a better political system 47 years after independence. We have several times heard that HH helped himself to some privatisation funds each time Sata differs with HH but was never an issue when they were together in the pact.

  12. I just hope that we are not going to have another cash shredding commission of inquiry on the way that HH acquired wealth. I believe he was a partner and Grant Thornton and Mr Sata should not expect him to be poor. Frankly, I think HH’s wealth is triavial and not worth talking about. As a matter of fact HH does not even feature on the top 40 wealthiest people in African. So HH’s money is really peanuts and why strain at that?

Mr president lest debate real issues than trivials

    • ethical questions need to be asked.Where in the world do you privatise or liquidate a company without declaring an interest

  13. Mushota! Good question but before we answer,if indeed you are proud of your name, why to you yourself  claim to be British or Scottish? Is it not poverty of thought on your part or maybe am wrong?

    • Mushota has brought out an interesting point. Where I am I have met a lot of Americans who have not lost their accents from wherever they came from; they have never changed their names – but they are proudly American. So, yes, it would be great to have a Mushota who is Scotish, just as we have a Killon Munyama who is now Polish. But when a Charles Chemba becomes British he even changes his accent, and assumes the name “Chamber” just to spice it up. Catch the drift?

  14. this man jhas displayed alot of stupidfity and dullness in his talk..thats why they will lose that seat…you insult HH in nhis homeland..mwapya..why question his wealth at a public rally when you have the law enforcers at your disposal..and by the way because you don’t like Tongas..hahaha

  15. this man jhas displayed alot of dullness in his talk..thats why they will lose that seat…you insult HH in nhis homeland..mwapya..why question his wealth at a public rally when you have the law enforcers at your disposal..and by the way because you don’t like Tongas..hahaha

  16. No! Our President is wrong. Unlike the MMD government, his government must give development funds to all provinces and constituencies, regardless of which party was elected to run those regions.

  17. Why questioning him about his wealth now – leave him alone such intimidation and checks are irrelevant – Is HH just a bush uneducated – he is a man of vision- he prospers because of knowlegde – and so can a nation be like him who knows one day will be like Swizerland in Europe — he is just a quite Chap not noise like these we hear- he speak sense 90% & maybe 10% is what he mis-fires — aha!!! leave him alone – what history somebody knows, if we follow that history thyemselves will be disqualified from what they think they are doing now!!! jealosyyyyyy!!!

  18. The problem is – only those people who steal prosper in zambia which is a fake belief – just because HH has wealth then he stole – lazy undeveloped and un civilized people — hes gone to school dont implicate him – he is the best candidate for zambian future!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. why is that all the people who have money in zambia are thieves, people change your mind set to be poor is a choice period

  20. very good move sir, let us get to the bottom of this no wonder HH wanted MMD to win he wanted to be protected nail the bastard Sir

  21. SATA is more corrupt how can he direct Minister of Agriculture to buy tractors to lease to farmers through traditional leaders is that not corruption at its worst. Today SATA is giving more powers to traditional leaders but when he was in opposition he was saying that RB is corrupting TRADITIONAL LEADERS i wonder how this man thinks? Its only GOD to save us from this man.

  22. Now this is what PF are good at…campaign rhetoric, It just seems to me they are failing to make the transition of starting to act like a governing party, they are forever attacking opponents or perceived opponents. Though GK is not my favorite politician, his sentiments yesterday were spot on.

  23. The President was politiking in Mazabuka, sad to hear how similar he sounds to RB and the rest of them when they were campaigning……Its true what they say, change is really hard to make in politics!!

  24. (Another cash shredding commission of inquiry)!!!!!!!!!!!!! – you are right my dear i think there is a problem here let all people who have money leave the country because they will be persecuted – money is meant to help life go sweetly not vonhturt wanting to eat the already worked for parcel – lets be debating on the factuals and serious business not somebody pockets and bedroom – just concentrate on your tractors which will be followed soon!!!let us wait & see how the opposition will scoop there meant seat!!

  25. we all know very well which school HH went to and that he is a educated man, But which school did SATA went to? Lazy Zambians, when a black man is rich you say he stole or is a satanist but if its a white man you hero worship. jerk up blacks. may we know what qualifications does sata has? nothing, nothing at all. shame. change your attitudes and join the corporate world!

  26. This is a good and objective way of answering criticisms of Southern Province representation in Cabinet Minister. President has assurred people of Magoye that if they elect their person, he will be appointed Minitser of Southern Province.

The questions about HHs wealth are legitimate and fair, only requires responses, indeed if he chaired the privatisation of Intercontinental Hotel, Livingstone and now he is the Chairman of the hotel that took over, any deals cut?????

  27. Everyone supporting HH is not reasonable. The onus is on HH to defend himself. Privatisation as we know it was a dirty scam. The truth is that people from the business sector are not clean individuals and no wonder very few business men become presidents. HH will forever be in opposition because he is the voice of Southern Province and Southern Province alone. He is not even second best, he is always the ultimate loser at all contested elections. Simple, HH, we have rejected you twice and we will never stop doing that. Running a company is not running a country.

  28. but ba president you expect votes from Magoye after insulting their son in public wait UPND 20,000 votes PF 300.

  29. EH!Am non partizan and i like objectivity,ok this has gone too far,if we want to investigate HH then lets investigate every man worth a billion in Zambia, even the dora bicycle issue and the gold issue is a disgrace wont opposition people work without questions?am questioning our democracy,my president worries me,he gets the chair and all he wants is investigating,is that the job description?even this thing of sending mr kaunda to apologise, imwe you dont do that, even obama didnt do that, you protect your nation and understand why and not gain mileage now and pay later,as for MMD guys let them accept defeat

  30. But this is crap.

@we give him to sale Luanshya mines ,we do not know where he taken the money.

@we give him to sale Kagem mine ,we do not know how much he sold.

@we give him to sale Lima Bank,he gets a house.

@we give him to sale Intercontinental ,he becomes a Chairman.

Conclusion:Then you where a government of Monkeys in a Maize Field. So the Chief Monkey is back.

  31. @THINK OF IT- Good points raised there. Actually, the best thing the president would have done to instill credibility in his commissions of inquiry was to engage qualified fraud experts to audit all departments of government and not apply the law subjectively. At least that would preclude us from making empty allegations. Simple!

  32. After SATA has investigated everybody in the country, he must investigate himself. We want to know what happened to the money for the Merzaf flats in Chilenje. We want to know how he obtained the houses he has in avondale. we want to know how he grabbed the house he is now living in in Rhodes park by evicting a zambia airways family. we want to know why he is getting paid $2,500 per month for living in his own house when there is state house. If Sata is not careful, his retirement will be miserable…that is if he doesn’t die. The next govt will be all over him like a rash for all these corruption, tribal appointments and appointing close relatives into diplomatic missions. On whose budget did wynter kabimba travel to brussels? wynter kabimba is not a govt employee…

  33. who cares even if PF loses in Mangoye?Bantustan people can’t vote for PF in Southern.UPND is campaigning on tribal lines. They are telling other tribes to rise against Bembas.Very shallow in thinking! Why should Bemba speaking pipo be a problem to Tongas just bcoz HH wants to rule. The tribe speaches by UPND members will not help the party.Infact it is making UPND and Tongas very difficult to rule Zambia. We easterners won’t go against our Buyas(bembas). We enjoy our chimbuyas, therefore If UPND wants to use other tribes to punish Bembas then that is very ridiculous.I’m very dissapointed with some UPND members.HH came into politics thru tribalism and now they want to paint bembas as tribalist.what a party full batches of bantustan.we’ll punish u with such thinking.Let PF rule in peace

  34. Well done mr President!!! this is wat we need. These are the issues to discuss and not just politiking. We know for sure that we are going in a right direction. We are behind you and we will support you as long as you continue with such good developments.

  35. I like the promise of tractors!
Also the coming feasibility studies of roads.

If Sata doesnt deliver on these promises, it will work against in come 2016.

  36. Well Sata is politicking and he has do this all his life and that is how he feeds his family. It is sad for anyone to take all that he says to heart. He is on record having insulted some tribe/s in this country. Not voting for PF in southern province is not a sin at all. PF will get the full support of Southern Province on only one ground, which Mr Sata fully understands through good agriculture policies and full implementation. Eradicating of ananimal diseases will win him the supoport and reduce politics in Southern Province. Kaunda has passed this info to him.

  37. By the way the Southern have less interest in politics, it is just that Chiluba distroyed agriculture and brought poverty to the provonce hence people looked up to UPND to be the only party which understood the needs of the region. PF has never had strong belief in agri till recently and this is commendable.

On the issue of trust Chiluba completely walked over the trust of Bemba speaking people by giving them (farmers from Sothern) Promissory notes which he never settled in some cases. Therefore, PF was also misunderstood to have that potential as well, hence when they paid us farmers I was happy and did indicate likewise. There is a history to this issue….

  38. HH is not rich but he is perceived to be rich. Compared to the 80% poor Zedians. He does not even own any prominent business here in Zambia like a bank, building society, insurance company, a mine, major properties. So where is his richness? In what economic sector here in Zambia is HH a magnet? Nil.

  39. @Poor Zed People- I think you are off target on the point where you say that Chiluba walked over the trust of the Bemba people. Provinces vote in favour of locals. Come on, it’s everywhere. Black people will vote Obama in 2012 despite what’s on the ground.
Southern Province has got interest in politics. Southern Province is poor just like all other provinces are poor. The reason is simple- centralised taxation systems never allocate developmental projects fairly. However, I have to agree with you on the point of promisory notes- that act was disgusting to say the least!

  40. The reason peopel in the Southern province are dischanted is because of the raw deal they have been getting from Chiluba’s time. Let Sata put up those new projects Magoye Itezhi Tezhi and Mazabuka Nampundwe Roads and PF would be the darling in those districts. Provincial Ministers are nothing- remember Monkombwe. What they want is inclusion in serious Cabinet, Foreign Service and Parastatal jobs as well as general respect like for other Zambians.

  41. Sata’s the worst tribal bigot this country has ever seen, do you still recall the way he harrassed Chief Kazembe for supporting Levy claiming “imwe mfumu kuti mwa vota shani muLamba ukusha mwineBemba koko ine?”. Surely, this is what Nyanjas would call “Chaipila galu kuluma mbuzi”. Sata can go puke anything in Magoye but my cousins will not fall for this vile serpent’s tricks. Tongas want development, not Sata’s posts. He better read Gregory House’s quote & for a change & aspire to something holy: “We are selfish, base animals, crawling across the Earth, [but] because we got brains, if we try real hard we can occasionally aspire to something that is less than pure evil. “

  42. Zambians, you usually go in the dark about real issue..the topic you must be concerned about is that 200 jobs have been saved. As for HH’s source of money, we all know that HH has got questionable record in business.

  43. # 5 You are the most s.t.u.p.i.d. tribalist i have ever seen. Is Munyama a Bemba? Why do you talk about things you do not understand? If people voted for change for the sake of it why did they not vote for the under 5 bantustan party? You are a very bitter person but you should just wait for the next five years until then people will again decide who to lead them. Certainly it wont be you because even new commers to politics are making sanse than you bantustan.

  44. if you are called to do valuations when selling some companies and you are paid, then you have stolen.unlike the merzaf and avondale scandals, this was pure business

  45.  “Mr Sata said if elected, Mr Munyama will find it easy to access funds for development from Government.”
=So if someone else gets elected they wont get funds from the GRZ?
“Mr Sata said Mr Hichilema has no track record of political experience and that he assumed the UPND’s leadership using money.”
=When you got into politics you already have experience or it come as time want by. I am not for HH, MMD or You Sata, but I think it’s good to have new young blood in politics

  46. “The President reiterated that in 2009 Mr Hichilema formed the pact with the PF in the hope that he would lead the alliance in the event that Mr Sata died.  “After seeing that I did not die in 2010 he left,” he said”

=Really? Sata I think you are a hypocrite, You just told us that you had HH sell a few establishments in the passed and you never saw the money. Why would you want to make a pact with such a person? You enjoyed that money 2 ka? Now ati iyo we need to find out how he made his money. I for one am tried of hearing the talk of you being died, grow up and focus on real issues. When people say you are died then you show yourself in public be assured that people know that you are alive. We will all die one day.

  47. Sata you are in state house or your old house, please focus on developments and live the childish talking to the kids, it’s time to grow up now. I wish I had ingoma  to play for you.

  48. LUDC asked Constable Sata to oversee Avondale house building, today he owns half of the properties, council owns none. history rpeated itself in MerZaf/chileje saga.
They liquidated Zambia Airways with FTJ, Constable now lives in Zambia Airways CEO’s house…..

  49. We gave him to sell Intercontinental Hotel in Livingstone but today he is the chairman of Sun Hotel (the former Intercontinental Hotel. This statement makes me more worried that we have a dull man as a president and we are directionless as a country with this man. Honestly after all those assignments you could not as no.3 in gvt not able to know where the money went or how the companies were sold at! Eeishi! Maningi trouble Zambia!

  50. HH you are the man, you are the best! Every time your name is mentioned Kolwes start jumping from branch to branch due to jealousy. The only way they can get wealth is by stealing! No babwa nomutalimi akulima!

  51. Mr Sata is corrupting voters with promises of posts as he has done with all kaponyas and Post newspapers kaponyas. This is corruption at its worst in Zambia. Talk about development and how you will woo investors not by finger pointing, you and you today you are investors in Mazabuka. As his habit corrupting chiefs and all that bow to him as the chief tribalist receive rewards. Lets see if Magoye people are so cheap to fall prey to the Kateka’s bribes.

  52. This ka mushota bitch disgusts me too too much….you should even put your real pic so that we can see how urgly you are.

  53. I SUPPORT MR. SATA’S INTENTION TO KEEP THE MUNALI NICKEL MINE OPEN, TO KEEP PEOPLE IN EMPLOYMENT. HOW ABOUT THE 200 WORKERS IN ZAMBEZI AIRLINES, THEY ALSO NEED TO KEEP THEIR JOBS. MR. PRESIDENT, THE STUPID DECISION TO CLOSE DOWN A VIABLE AIRLINE BECAUSE OF SOME FLIMSY SAFETY REASONS CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED. I AM YOUR SUPPORTER, BUT THIS ACT OF CLOSING THIS AIRLINE HAS BLIGHTED YOUR LEADERSHIP. MR. SICHINGA’S INSISTENCE THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A NATIONAL AIRLINE IS STUPID TO SAY THE LEAST. WE NEED UTH TO HAVE MEDICINES, WE NEED OUR UNIVERSITIES TO BE WELL FUNDED, WE NEED OUR ROADS TO BE UPGRADED, NOT PF MINISTERS TRAVELLING FIRST CLASS TO GO TO THEIR INTERNATION JAUNTS. THINK AGAIN, THIS TO ME SOUNDS LIKE” PERSONAL”. HOW CAN ANYBODY BELIEVE DCA, LABELLED AS THE MOST CORRUPT IN AFRICA. SHAME!

  54. Hahahahaha, Mr. Sata, HH and Valentine Chitalu are wealthier than you and your mates because they are MORE EDUCATED- Simple not because of privatisation. It appears you have amnesia, weren’t you MMD? Actually, some people say you were controlling Chiluba! LOL..

  55. How can this fool instruct his girl friend/ hule to conduct a feasibility study. They should restrict that nonsense to their bedroom. …..

  56. I support HH cos he is hardworking, wise and intelligent than a lazy donchi kubeba president full of lies. How do you appoint someone as minister who has not been elected and there is already a serving minister on the same position, i dont know what this means to him. God help us!!!!

  57. The President should distance himself from these petty handbagging sessions no matter how he dislikes the chap. You are not an opposition leader any more. You are a Head of State, President of the Republic of Zambia for Christ’s sakes, behave like one, concentrate on developmental issues leave the personal petty attacks for the likes of Wynter Kamwimba and your other Ministers to do. GROW UP!!!
Now you are just leaving HH to counter attack you on petty issues.

  58. @77
Being more educated doesn’t guarantee you wealth and riches, when are you are going learn…rid yourself of such inferior complexes…the like of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs never saw the inside of a university classroom!!
    WAKE UP!!

  59. Zambians back home, see your lives? Is this the change you wanted? This Sata has no direction at all. Each time he opens his mouth he sounds very confused, like a 4 year old speaking. Honestly the rest of the world is shaking their heads, HH the one he calls under five is much more reasonable and has integrity than him.

  60. Those claiming to be Tongas prefer using Bemba in their submissions. Be yourselves. I hardly read Tonga in comments posted. My Tonga friends and cousins, can you promote your Tonga language. To be honest, you make sense when you look at qualities of a candidate, and NOT the ‘Tribe’ of the party. Milupi won Luena seat as independent, and later as ADD – as an individual. His qualities matter the most, not his tribe or political party.

  61. malabishi, he has lost my respect. I thought this guy was a different politician, alas, he is following RB’s footsteps.

  62. HH mulombwana. Even number 1 knows that. He can’t speak without fearing the shadow of the gentleman.!!! Kobakwete kalombwana (HH) limwi uya kucilela cihi eeci.

  63. Mushota – I am beginning to see you are here to provide humour albeit mostly in bad taste. Here’s a challenge for you. List some of these names. I am guessing you don’t get that what people refer to as English names tend to be Hebrew/Greek/Biblical. I know it would surprise even Brits who have come to think Peter, John, David, Mathew, Sarah, Rebecca etc. are not English or European for that matter. Who cares about a name that was not of their own choosing at birth. Keep us smiling :)

  64. Nick and Mushota have now run out of ideas. Why dwell on names? These people with christician or english names are more mature than you two empty heads. That place is not heaven. When you die you leave earth and there will be no separate country for you in heaven. Poor souls!

  65. Error. I mean some English people do not realize their names are not European but middle eastern… Did you mean ‘roots’ as opposed to ‘routes’? Never mind. Luanshya used to be a lovely little town. Would live to see the mining towns regenerated but it will take more than mining. Perhaps build universities and regenerate facilities as infrastructure is there.

  66. We gave him to sell Intercontinental Hotel in Livingstone but today he is the chairman of Sun Hotel (the former Intercontinental Hotel)” you gave him business nafuti nafuti so shut up !

  67. mushota now is claiming to be the most patriotic Zambian.English name is nothing comparing to you who wants ” colured” children with your scotish old man.Try something else mate you deserve no answer from any blogger.what routes are you questioning- Lol

  68. @#80- Jay Jay- Get your facts right, in Zambia you have to be educated to have wealth. Both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are drop outs at Stanford and Harvard respectively. America is different from Zambia. Why don’t you mention names like Steve Ballmer (Business brains of Microsoft), George Soros (Worth $22BN), Lakshimi Mital (Steel Billionaire) and people like Jamie Dimon (GM CEO) Shut up and go wash your underwear brains!

  69. can sata behave like a president even for one day? He should also stop sending KK we do not want to loose him just soon.He is more allegic to planes than corruption.yaaah even pure bembas will soon run out of energy to support these attributes of our president!

keep your useless comment this is a recording.

  70. i have recently had a $780,000 business loan approved by my RBC bank and have had quality advise from my family in zambia to rather invest this back home by building a block of condos on my 10 acre plot in Lusaka West. This has sounded more and more attractive to me, but recently I’am being plagued by second thoughts looking at what is happening to RBs villas, Dora’s cycles and now HH’s wealth. I am really in a dilemma, because it seems , by comments on this blog that a significant sector of zambians seem to be very resentful of any individual success, business savy and hard work. sorry state of affairs indeed. Is this a side effect of KK’s humanism? Then it’s time someone came up with a counter philosophy

    • Agree with #96. Neo – colonism and UNIP bck or maybe animal farm – four legs gud, two legs bad. Its unquestionable for the ruling class to have wealth but its corruption for the opposition. This gives the picture the indigenous in opposition parties can’t be millionaires unless they’re corrupt? Some of you bloggers are young to realize that RB and MCS’s ex boss in UNIP has always been one of Zambian’s rich men. A $700k mortgage labeled as corruption is just trivial. Sata once lied that Kaunda stole $8 billion and was one of the richest men in africa, where is that money? Instead he’s sending KK to china. By the way, the still haven’t found weapons of mass destruction at Panji Kaunda’s farm.

  71. What we need is an informed and enlightened electorate, voters who dont swallow trash coming from liar politicians.
Until we start voting on the basis of developmental issues, we will always have clowns in high offices.

  72. #96 WEBMAN – If I were you I would hold on a couple of years. UNIP is on its way back, for sure. Very soon people would have to be accounting for anything they are found with or that they build. The problem with govt business is that once they confiscate your property it takes a few years before you can have it back, even when you are innocent. Meanwhile during those few years your creditors will be on your neck. Not against it, but be very very careful.

  73. @93 and 94

You are the selfsame chap patting yourself on the back, says alot about you…you carry on accumulating certificates, diplomas, degrees and PHDs till you are a pensioner, where ever you are in Russia; billions await you my friend. I wash hands off you, communicating with you is like hitting your head against a brick wall.

  74. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! sata sata sata sata sata sata sata sata sata sata!

GO AHEAD AND DECEIVE YOUR KAPONYA FRIENDS. JUST A BONE FOR KAONYAS TO CHEW! NICKEL IS NON A RENEWABLE RESOURCE, KAPONYAS. THE RESERVES HAVE BEEN DEPLETED. IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. I KNOW MOST OF U YOU BLOGGERS MUST HAVE FRIENDS OR CONNECTION WITH PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE. ASK THEM FOR THE PREVAILING SITUATION. I GOT MY PACKAGE BEFORE THE HICCUPS AND MOVED ON.

CONTINUE RANTING GUYS! AS FOR THE WORTH OF HH USE YOUR HEAD AND YOU MAY ACCUMULATE SOME.

    LOL……………………..

  75. Mushota has brought out an interesting point. Meantime, I hope the Southerners will, for once, shift their ‘allegiance’ and vote for a different party for a change.

  76. More stuff that sits well with kaponyas. He’s finger-pointing HH for acquiring his wealth from his tenure at ZPA, did Sata forget that he same Bwalya N’gandu and Valentine Chitalu were at helm of ZPA? He demonises the same system he was part of, you would think he was always in the opposition yet he was 3rd in hierarchy in MMD. Last I checked, his tribesmen Bwalya N’gandu and Valentine Ng’andu were getting appointments from him when they sold ZCCM for like $30 million – talk about change. No one is investigating him for the houses in avondale, his concubines and illegimate children. This so called fight against corruption is a circus. If Miti and Chungu could even be considered for appointments lives much to be desired on what change zambians voted for. 90 days almost up & no mulla.

  77. MMD Chief Bootliker nichi munthu zoona. His analysis is mature indeed. For once Sata should work as a president and not a kaponya. Grow up sir we are still waiting for development which is not forthcoming. When are things going to happen? We are tired of waiting and all we get are cheap politics as usual. PATHETIC. I end here!

  78. Costen Chilala is the richest among indegenous zambians, and the man is not heard, the day he will join politics, they will say he stole as some lazy people who just believe in stealing to obtain wealth always accuse the hard working to be thieves. What do you expect from a man who has neve known to work and live on his own sweat, apart from government dependancy. Southerners are not government dependants, they believe in their own sweat, and coupled with education the guys can do wonders. They do not need GRZ jobs or appointments to get rich, actually many of them believe many government officials are lazy in nature as they believe in handouts. PF will not win this seat, southerners are not cheap people, they can read one’s mind.

  79. EMBARASSING …. AND YOU CALL THIS PIECE OF SH1T A PRESIDENT …… DIVIDING HIS OWN PEOPLE, REMIND HIM AGAIN “YOU ARE PRESIDENT”. HERE IS MY THEORY: REMEMBER HOW MMD CAMPAIGNED FOR SATA ALL THOSE YEARS. SOUNDS FAMILIAR WHEN LISTENING TO SATA, EVERY SENTENCE HAS “HH” INTO IT. KEEP IT UP, 20HH

  80. #90 JAY JAY – Iwe stupid yako! How can you glorify illiteracy and ignorance? Is that what you are teaching your children or will be teaching your children or younger relatives? The problem with you people who are dull is that you think your kama-10,000 dollars you have is the apex of wealth. The examples of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs you are giving are very misleading. Even in America those two belong to a very exclusive club of people with unusually HIGH IQ. YOU KAPONYA JAY JAY do not possess the intelligence of even Steve Jobs’ finger-nails, even Bill Gates finger -nails that he has cut off his fingers are more intelligent than YOU! Stop misleading young ones making them believe they do not need education. Steve and Bill CHOSE to leave university; YOU FAILED TO PASS GRADE-9 !!

  81. SATA WALASA H.E. , GET THIS HH GUY TO EXPLAIN HIS THINGS, HE PLAYS TOO CLEAN YET HE’S BUSY VIOLATING THE ETHICS OF HIS PROFESSION BY PLAYING PLAYER AND REF. LET HIM HAVE AN EXPERIENCE OF CHIBOKAILA HOTEL!!

  82. I GUESS OUR FRIENDS FROM THE NORTH DON’T GET IT, LISTEN YOU CAN MAKE IT WITHOUT STEALING A CENT, COME TO SOUTHERN PROVINCE AND LEARN INCLUDING THIS PIECE OF CRAP WE CALL PRESIDENT. LET HIM START TO EXPLAIN HOW HE OWNS THE HOUSES IN AVONDALE, WHAT HAPPEN TO THE MILLIONS FOR MMD CONVENTION, WHERE HE GOT THE DOLLARS CONFISCATED IN RSA, WHY CHUUNGU IS A FREE MAN IF HE MEANS WELL, INSTEADING ARRESTING PEOPLE FOR BICYCLES, CHUUNGU HAD SPEED BOATS AND MOTOR BIKES ….. SHAME MY COUNTRY.

  83. Just listen to this northern 1diot … all candidates are from one tribe how can people vote on tribal lines, does he even know his candidate?

  84. I dont understand how HH has managed to acquire his wealth at his age while all I have is 5 guns and a Toyota after alomost a century of serving in varius government portifolios.

Please help me learn and understand INVETSMENT PRINCIPLES so I can have something more tangile this time. Sure bane limbi kuti naiyesha ko naine.

  85. SATA, DANGLES A CARROT, IN HIS POTENTIALLY FUTILE ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE TONGAS CURVE –IN. Trying to Sucker-punch the Tongas by threatening them with a dearth in development if they voted otherwise, is tantamount to black mail and sadly a prolongation of the same stale and stinky political gimmicks.  The day our politicians ceased being insular and appreciated our unity in diversity and identified what mattered at the local and ultimately national level would be the dawn of a fresh breeze of politics.  At the rate we are gong, we risk being more polarized and drifting apart in regional groupings. More than ever before, we need a bridge-builder and not a bridge-burner. Our trajectory is in the wrong FRONT. However, Sata, if sincerely PATRIOTIC can reverse the trend towards the right FRONT

  86. Potential investors should not be sneaked in/hand picked but need to transparently apply through the appropriate channels.  The apolitical and professional body/board empowered should work independently of and above any duress from any influential quarters of society, irrespective of their hierarchical position, whether political or otherwise. The board needs to scrutinize the prospective investor for among others, aspects such as: Liquidity, investment history with respect to the project, Track record, contingent measures, short medium and long term plans, Contributions to the host community.Happy Turkey day!

  87. i wonder where Sata is taking our country. the man just bursts into pronouncements not backed by any planning or budget. Zambia is truly a ‘kandansa’ country, a laughing stock for our neighbours and beyond. education is important.

  88. We Indians are prepared to come and run Munali Nickel mine, and send all of the profits here to Mumbai. PLEASE GIVE US A CHANCE.

  89. #122, I think you need the money, I was just watching a BBC documenatry that showed how dismal the indian govt system is and did you know you have more malnourished children than the whole sub-saharan africa combined?

You need to feed your miserable poor, Zambia would be more than happy to let you off on that.

  90. This is cheap politiking. How can you appoint someone before winning the elections? What about the current minister? Where is he going to place him? Why raising issues now? When the pact was in progress he failed to bring up these allegations? Watch out with this man. He is sitting on a hot seat. Talk about developments not these minor, triviol and petty issues. We want to hear how he will rejuvenate the country.

  91. The truth is minority will not prevail over the majority.Mwebantu do you expect Sata to appoint those who called him names.Especially some chaps from Tonga Land.Personally I would appoint our brothers and sisters from Western province. They deserve positions in govt.not HH followers who are full of hate.Sorry my dear sister from Souther province. You called our president names then today you want positions of influence panse.Ask Chibamba Kanyama how he views Tonga politics.

  92. @WANU NGWEE#113, You are exhibiting your ignorance, HH has never been in Governement like Austin LIATO or SATA . He merely offered consultancy services as a reputable compny which the Govt of that day chose to do a job for it. However, going by your klevel of understand, you will not appreciate this free insight and advice because you dont believe in education but simple Kaponya life just like your SATA.

  93. @No chance for under Five #127: The truth of the matter dear is that TONGAS are ever and will never seek favours from any one. We believe in what we know is right, we work for what we own, we are a percurior pipo the JEWS OF ZAMBIA. We are hated for being successful, accumulation of wealth, eduction and the general intellect which is rear among the KOLWESTANS.
