Espionage Charges: Raphael Nakachinda and Dr. Fred M’membe Under Police Scrutiny

Share

The Zambia Police have taken a stern stance against alleged acts of espionage by two notable figures – Raphael Nakachinda and Dr. Fred M’membe. The charges, brought under Section 3 (c) of the State Security Act Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia, hinge on their participation in a documentary titled “The Grand Regional Scheme: Its Foreign Powers and Local Elites are Destroying Africa Part One.”

Raphael Nakachinda’s Allegations:
At 43 years old, residing in plot number 1794 in Kafue District, Raphael Nakachinda finds himself at the center of an espionage probe. The police assert that between August 26, 2023, and September 16, 2023, Nakachinda collaborated with others in the creation of a documentary containing contents deemed directly or indirectly useful to a foreign power. The documentary, titled “The Grand Regional Scheme,” is alleged to be prejudicial to the safety or interest of the Republic of Zambia. As a consequence, Nakachinda currently faces detention at Balmoral Police Station.

Former President Edgar Lungu visited PF secretary general Rapheal Nakacinda who is incarceration at Ibex Police cells

Dr. Fred M’membe’s Accusations:
Dr. Fred M’membe, a 64-year-old resident of house 7354 on Nangwenya Road in Lusaka, also finds himself entangled in the espionage charges. Similar to Nakachinda, the allegations against Dr. M’membe suggest his involvement in the aforementioned documentary during the same period. The charges claim that he communicated or passed on information, intending it to be directly or indirectly useful to a foreign power. The nature of this information is purportedly prejudicial to the safety or interest of Zambia. Dr. M’membe shares the same fate as Nakachinda, currently remanded in police custody, specifically at Westwood Police Station.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga affirmed these developments, emphasizing the gravity of the charges brought against the two individuals. The arrests have not only captured public attention but have also fueled a sense of anticipation among their supporters and the wider community.

As legal proceedings unfold, the nation awaits further insights into the ramifications of these espionage charges. The cases not only put Nakachinda and Dr. M’membe under scrutiny but also prompt a broader reflection on the boundaries of expression and the potential legal consequences for those who engage in what authorities deem as activities prejudicial to national security.

  1. This was expected with all his unwarranted utterances
also looks like ECL wants to get involved to cause more confusion TYPICAL

    • Fred M’membe does not believe in Edgar Lungu and neither does Lungu believe in M’membe. It’s just that they have a common enemy in HH. If they dislodge HH in 2026, they would immediately turn on each other.

    • If you understand that Fred Mmembe is nothing but a tribalist, you do not need to understand anything else about him. If you do not understand that he is a tribalist, everything about him will confuse you.

    • Chakolwa Chagwa Lungu will be barred from running. The corrupt decision that allowed him to run in 2021 will be reversed, and that will be that. Meanwhile, let UPND begin criminal prosecution against the HIV-infected bugger for looting the country, and killing so many people

    • The Zambia Police have taken a stern stance Kikikikiki. It should be: the Zambia Police have taken a silly stance. Is this what Zambia Police calls Espionage?

  2. They need to be incarcerated at Mukobeko while awaiting trial. These are very dangerous individuals who can bring war to our beloved peaceful country

  3. KK once said that when you point fingers at your adversaries 3 fingers are pointing back at you. We remember how some people cried like babies to the so called international Community or should I dare say international cr1minals when they found themselves in problems. This business of locking and mistreating people you don’t agree with is hindering our progress and development in Africa. African countries with strong leadership seem to be the only ones at peace with themselves. Come on Zambia, we are bigger than this.

    • When you are innocent, you have the right to fight political persecution. HH, whom your ass is clearly referring to, was never charged with criminal theft because the man, because he is an honest boy from Bweengwa. On the other hand, these ones are all criminals. Every single person in the pictures above is a thief. You know it, and I do not know. So just because an innocent HH demanded his release does not mean that criminals who plundered our country should be free too. These ones shown here, on both sides of the prison bars, should be prosecuted and jailed for robbing the Zambian people. After that they should be deported from our country.

    • @Nega Nega, deported from your country?
They are Zambians as is every UPND chimwi. Zambia is not Chimwis’private estate.

    • @Nega Nega, Uli chikopo iwe? innocent from what? If you can point at a thief and you are in control of the law enforcement, why would you not arrest them? why making arrests only when challenged politically? Is that not what Diktators do? why ubfontini so?

    • @FutureZed: I do not understand this language of yours, “Uli chikopo iwe?”. If you are able to, please speak English, which is a neutral language. As for the rest of your puerile logic, you ask the following: “If you can point at a thief and you are in control of the law enforcement, why would you not arrest them?”.. HH is weak. There was that woman who was found with millions of unexplained money, that his government released. The truth of the matter is that if this was the late John Magufuli of Tanzania, the theft of resources would have been prosecuted; the nepotism and tribalism in the civil service would have been wiped out. I am not like you. I am a Tonga but I will criticise another Tonga when I know he can do a better job

  4. I read in ZO Mmembe charging that HH wont manage to break him down. Cattle, goats, chicken and car thieves will soon all be saying law enforcement institutions wont manage to break them down after committing offences. When one is suspected of breaking the law, it is law enforcement institutions they will face and not Hichilema.

    • @Ngoma Yamaano: Musaama, unfortunately HH believes that if a looter of government resources agrees to return 80% of what he stole, he should be allowed to keep the other 20%. Our man, honest as is he, happens to be delusional about many things. His opponents have been emboldened by his indecisiveness and weakness, so that they are accusing him of the economic mess they themselves created by borrowing US $31 billion, and looting it. I am not making it up. Most people in Zambia really believe that the high prices of mealie meal and other commodities are HH’s fault

  5. Now Lungu the political failure who has totally failed to organize PF because he is only good at stealing and he stole PF Party after the demise of President Sata. Thereafter failed to organize conversion for PF even when he was President of Zambia. Today achesafye gefuko.

    7
    15
    • You are completely right. This buck-toothed evil thief is the reason why Zambia is in an economic mess. He borrowed most of the US $31 billion debt that PF is responsible for saddling Zambia with. He deserves to be jailed for this.

  6. I do not agree with HH on a number of things but having read that article, it left one wondering just what the hell Fred was up to talking about such security sensitive information obtained without clearance out in the open like that. At least we know Nakachinda is nothing but an *****, the same does not apply with M’Membe, he ought to have known better. He must face the consequences of the law.

  7. The rebars look very intimidating! No one is getting out! Those two chaps should be on the same side, inside!!!

    4
    5
    • The rebars look beautiful. There is no need to relocate anyone into any other space. Just handcuff the right hand of each bugger outside the cell to a rebar. Then bring more rebars and build another cell around him right where his ass stands. Show the whole process on real-time closed circuit tv, so that we can enjoy seeing these criminals being properly caged.

  8. And M’membe fraternizing with Mutaware Lungu like that, its nauseous! Indeed, if you want to catch fleas go playing with the dogs, your wishes will be honoured. It was this same M’member wo said, and Quote: “Chagwa Agwa” when Muthaware collapsed at the Heroes Square Match Past Parade when he succumbed to babalaza pressure having swallowed eight bottles of illicit whisky with CliDoras Slit the previous night. M’Membe had a lot to say in that article about the immoral nature of this clueless thieving lunatic then doubling as President of Zambia. But today its all buddy buddy mulikani fimo fimo!

    • Correction: Coughing falls under espionage because you could be passing a signal to a foreign spy. Hate speech is Yawning when HH is giving a speech. Seditiion which Zyambo is facing, is disagreeing with Mweetwa or Kawana or Hamasaka

      10
  9. That is the Zambia we are living in today. While we are busy being destructed by arrests, mealie meal is at k330, fuel at k29, fertilizer at k1300, no medicines in hospitals, exchange rate at k24 and farming inputs have not yet been delivered. As we speak about Nakachinda, foreigners are mining copper and gold for free.

    • Blame the characters in that picture for high prices of everything. They found a country cleaned of debt by Mwanawassa and Ng’andu Magande, and borrowed US $31 billion in 10 years, that the country cannot pay even if it sells everything it has. The people whom these inbreds borrowed this money from are now collecting, and they have forced Zambia to remove subsidies on mealie meal and everything else, resulting in the high costs. It is your fault for supporting these fools and putting them in power. We warned you, and you did not listen. You destroyed agriculture in food producing Province which fed the country for 50 years, and you wondering why the country is as hungry as Katanga Province in DRC..

      3
      10
  10. What a country! If you are in opposition, Every case you are charged with means you have to be locked up. We should stop pretending we are a democracy. Idi Amin and Mobutu have ressurected in Zambia

    15
    2
    • Not true. These criminals are being locked up because they are, and have been, breaking the law. In fact, the government is being soft on them because each and every single one of them should be in prison for looting state resources. They should all be barred from political office for taking a country cleaned of debt by Levy Mwanawassa and Ng’andu Magande, and saddling it with US $31 billion in debt that it will never be able to pay; to say say nothing of stealing all of that money. These are criminals who belong in Chimbokaila, Mwembeshi, Lusaka Central, and in the case of their leader, Edgar Chagwa-Chakolwa Lungu, in Mukubeko because he is also guilty of murder as well

  11. In Zambia, the trend seems to be those in the opposition are always the ev!l law breakers and thus are always in jail; while those in government are always the good, law abiding citizens. Doesn’t make sense at all!

    9

  12. Jigga Kayama Simangulungwa, please report those in government who have broken the law or provide evidence to law enforcement agencies so that you have evidence that law breakers in government are treated differently. Provide evidence instead of saying the trend seems….

    • And Hamasaka is plotting to kill Zgambo. Had it been the other way round Zgambo would be behind bars awaiting police investigations.

  13. ASK yourselves, what is the impact since ECL became an active politician?
Just to to Police station, just to have a picture with Fred Mmembe……VERY SAD !! And this is a former President???
Reduced to zero…….ati alebwelelapo, ku ma zero. He will soon inherit Sean Tembo if he is not careful.

I don’t think this was the right move by ECL.

  15. This hate for the Cattle Herder from Bweengwa surprises me. Is it not ECL who closed Fred’s Post? It is now surprising that they seem to have forgotten their past and are now united in hate for HH. It would be unwise to support them in their hate of an individual.

  16. We need to change the law in Zambia and apply the change retrogressively. What we need to do is to identify what projects created from borrowed money were implemented. Then we should transfer responsibility for paying the loan to that province. If foreigners have to come a get something in return because the loan cannot be paid, let them get it from that province.

  17. How can a socialist and a man bent on vengence change the incumbent
for those who cant read between the lines ECL is just wanting to be arrested

  18. I hope espionage is a NON bailable offense…Nakachinda already looks like he misses drinking his breast milk ..

    9
  19. “I hope”? You hoping the worst happens to a political rival? Just because you don’t agree on how to run your country? Him and you are citizens. Clearly Democracy isn’t for you

  20. It shows politician always come together. They are not sown enemies. People on this platform are up in arm against each other. Others worship their leader . Pailing up insults on HH,ECL etc…but thus guys meet and later joke. Don’t rake thus political issues personal. Rake your family personal
