Zambia earned an excellent opening day 2-1 win over Senegal in Group A of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. Emmanuel Mayuka opened the scoring for Zambia after only 12 minutes.
Career
Mayuka is a former player for hometown Kabwe Warriors. In early 2008, Mayuka was the youngest player at the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations and he made his competition debut against Sudan.He is included in the 23 man team for zambia 2012 AFCON
 Club Career
 Maccabi Tel Aviv
In September, he joined Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv. In April 2010 Mayuka renewed his contract at Maccabi Tel Aviv until 2014.
BSC Young Boys
On 28 May 2010, it was confirmed that Mayuka had signed a five year contract with Swiss club BSC Young Boys for a transfer fee of 1.7m US, paid to Maccabi Tel Aviv as the replacement for Seydou Doumbia, who was sold to CSKA Moscow. On 17 February 2011, Mayuka scored a last-minute goal against Russian club FC Zenit Saint Petersburg in a 1/32 final UEFA Europa League match to help his team to a 2:1 home win.
 International career
He was part of the class of 2007 under-20 which included Fwayo Tembo, Clifford Mulenga, Sebastian Mwansa, William Njovu, Stophira Sunzu, Joseph Zimba, Rogers Kola, Jacob Banda, Nyambe Mulenga and Dennis Banda. He was the youngest player at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the only school boy in the team. Despite not scoring there, many soccer pundits and fans acknowledged his contribution to one of the finest youth squads in Zambian football history.
Mayuka was not part of the U-20s that participated earlier that year at the African Youth Cup in Congo (where Zambia finished fourth) but, in the first game against Jordan, he was picked in the starting lineup, and remained such for the other two group stage matches and the round-of-16 clash with Nigeria.
Mayuka debuted for the senior side in the 2007 COSAFA Cup, scoring the second goal in a 3–0 rout of Mozambique.

The African Nations Cup will give Mayuka a platform on which to showcase his precocious striking talent. Linked with Premier League sides Fulham and Newcastle United and with clubs from France, Russia and Germany all thought to be keeping tabs on his progress, the Chipolopolo forward could soon find himself plying his trade in one of Europe’s top divisions.

We would not make it in European clubs if we do not sort out our administration. Look at how we have destroyed Mbola’s career when we sold him to two different clubs. Now the boy is burned for three years. With Kalusha looking to get a cut from Mayuka, it will be another Mbesuma ( no one cared about his well being/discipline after they got their cut) Mbola saga.
the problem the senegalese ve created for themselves is believing the a player from the english premier league can lead their attack. English football is just for the locals. Its not for the africa cup,not european cup and not for the world cup. mbesuma is far a better player than demba ba, just coz demba ba scores in the english premier league doesnt make him a star as we were made to believe by the never tiring overhipping british media. I feel sorry for the so main brainwashed zambians who religiously watch the EPL as if they ll gain anything by watching these EPL fluffers and hoopers

All those of you who were saying Zambia will be eliminated in the first round must really be ashamed of yourselves after seeing that performance. Let us always give support to our team instead of being negative all the time. That was a massive win and am sure all of us are very happy now. Let us pray for the boys to reach the finals. #8 thanks for the good observation. At the office I have these EPL funs who analysed the Zambia Senegal game talking about Ba, and all those names. They were busy teasing how Zambian defenders will handle the game but alas!! look at the way Kalaba played. Look at Mayuka not a big name as compared to Ba. Look at Himoonde the defender and Sunzu. Excellent stuff. These silly supersport south africans also analysed the game earlier very unfairly but they looked like fools after the game. Renard is the key to our sucess. He has the plan looking at the team he used today. We still have a lot of talent to showcase on the bench.

Mayuka is the hope for Zambia. Give him another two years the boy will be playing for a big club in Europe. And if Jacob was not injured, Zambia would have performed much better in this tounerment.

Yesterday was the first time that I saw Mayuka in action. I could tell immediately that he’s talented. I wish him a very successful career. I hope he shines @ AFCON 2012!

Small stature Kalaba and Mayuka really played their lungs OUT. They were a marvel to watch. Top Class. Chris Katongo also died a little for Mother Zambia. The rest of the Players also gave their all. Weldone. I pray that they did not burn themselves OUT. With that kind of performance, it will be worthy changing perception of some of us critics of Chipolopolo. The 1st half performance was excellent. But it’s one game. let us see the next one against Libya a team we failed to beat during qualifiers. Everyone now will be playing to stop Zambia. It’s another wake up call also for us to further up our game. Good result against SeneSenes.
