Partisan inclined army officers to face dismissal

Share

Zambia Army Commander General Isaac Chisuzi has threatened to dismiss army officers who will be seen involving themselves in partisan politics.

General Chisuzi says army officers who will be seen indulging themselves in partisan politics will be instantly dismissed.

He explained that the command does not allow defence forces to engage themselves in partisan politics.

The Army Commander was speaking last night in a speech read on his behalf by Army Deputy Commander Iliad Mutwale at the 25th Anniversary of Intake 12 Silver Jubilee Celebrations at the Officers Mess.

General Chisuzi observed that in a democratic country, all defence forces are required to remain loyal to duty and support the government of the day in order to maintain peace and security in the country.

He however, commended defence forces in the country for exhibiting exemplary conduct and commitment to duty during the sickness, death and burial of late President Levy Mwanawasa.

General Chisuzi further urged all defence forces in the country not to indulge themselves in activities that might lead them into contracting the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

He said the ravages of the HIV/AIDS pandemic had brought about great challenges to the defence and security wings as it has claimed several of its most skilled human resource.

And speaking earlier, Zambia Army Intake 12 Senior Officers Representative Colonel James Phiri assured the nation that the intake will remain loyal and dedicated to duty with a view to fostering peace and security in the country.

  4. War with Angola? When we have only Four Serviceable T-59 TANKS left by KK,NO Fighter Jets,Dozens of ill trained Sick soldiers and Officers,No fuel in all Barracks and a Dozen of old generals who do not want to retire.Angola has the 4th most equipped Army in Africa(after South Africa,Libya,Egypt and Nigeria),they are the hardest BATTLE TESTED Defence Force in Africa, and they are rich with oil.Lets just continue with our mediocrity naimwe.War with Angola is commiting suicide baba.Dont even think it.

  5. I agree with #5,just look at the officers in the picture above, muppet show and circus is written all over these guys. The soldiers i see on the streets of Lusaka are not well fed, lack morale and stamina.KK used to keep us very well(in terms of equipment, discipline and food)

  6. those guys look good and healthy. LT post some more pics of our gallant men of war!
You guys stop speculating war here or else you shall be charged with treason

  7. #4 watch it. Tell me how many countries you’ve been to which have gone through some war of a kind and I’ll tell you the devastations of war. Our weaponry is old and we don’t need no war. War is retrogressive. Tell me you are joking…at times I wish we knew how old and learned some of you bloggers are.

  8. # 4 uli mungwa. Do you know what it takes and what people have to go thru when a war breaks out. And you think people in war torn countries are happy about what they are going thru’…Like some bloggers have said, think before you post your comments. This is nothing to joke about and lets not take the peace that God has given our country for granted. Go and live in SIERRA LEON, LIBERIA OR CONGO DR AND SEE WHAT WAR MEANS.

  9. Other than ci #1,2 and #7, this is hilarious. Iwe ka Hakatonga (1&2) learn to see the irony in some of the posts here. #7 Gallant are you sure? I am surprised you did not see the funny side of #4s post.

The picture was taken in 1979. lol! The man in he forefront is your biological father #7. Just to let you know.

  10. hmm mamamama what a name Chisuzi=Chisushi
General Isaac Chisushi by Partisan means do not involve your self in non-MMD activities!!!

  11. Fino filaitina inkondo baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Fyabwaice ifyakulafwaya ukuipooona. Ulubuli fiko guys naimwe tamwakakule kanshi?

  12. At least our army can afford good uniforms and boots, unlike those soldiers I saw in DRC, nama pata pata made out of car tyres, but uku na MP5 Heckler & Koch naba fukatila! Probably given in exchange for some diamonds.

  13. The last thing Zambia would ever want is to go to war. Not even with Swaziland. Guys tulibambuli. Even Bob flexed his simple muscles, what did we do?

We are a country that can not even afford a civil war! The last time I checked our barracks didnt even have fences. I may be wrong. I doubt our army have bullets.

We know our priorities! Buying chifis sugar, ifitenge, tu “Honda” and the rest Kanshi usbushiku Angola roared kubutuka.

  14. Hey guys! war? are you serious? wee don’t need it.it’s not about being timid or any form of cowardice it ‘s about the culture of peace deeply embbeded into our society.we are trully a a peace-loving national a true model of peace on the continent and world over. it doesn’t mean our service are poor at war they are repected everywhere you go they achievers visit UN web or AU web on peace-keeping missions then i tell you all that will be shocked to see the position we occupy in African especially on trainning skills.Guys do not belittle yourselves remember we liberated the region without counting on any cost or wound but losing lives was a price we paid them all (Zimbabwe,Mozambiq e.t.c)

  15. Check in the picture the ZAF staff are very flexible in nice uniforms and well polished boots. This was during LPM’s funeral at the airport.
Ba MICHEAL SATA said Zambia army should go for a friendly war with Angola, he meant once incase he is elected as Zed presdo.

  16. Zambia can beef up its army and defeat Angola. guys angola is a divided contry there no need to fear but any this is just the beging of every thing in about 10 years from now there will be one powerfull state in Africa and i guse thats zambia or southafrica.

  17. The officers look fit and happy.Thats the way but please discipline should be number one, second loyalty to the Govt of the day third……..

  18. Rubbish!!! Each and everyone in a democratic nation has the right to hold and express an opinion. Voting is an expression of a political opinion. So why shouldnt soldiers enjoy the same rights as those enjoyed by the people they protect. Shame on you Chisuzi….Useless General!!!

  19. ya! some of you blogers really dnt knw wat u ar saying, war is not something to wish for, with or without morden equipment. u have disclosed how poorly the army and airforce in terms of equipment, now the question is why dnt we hav proper equipment?, its because of the jokers whom u ar puting into power who cant see that defens equipment is also priority, or is it the Comanders who dnt push things. I can be ashamed to be called a fighter pilot when i dnt fly any fighter aircraft. we need somebody to come and improve our defence system.

  20. War is not in our agenda but development, lower taxes and more money in your pockets.Come October 30th we shall be docking at State House with our captain Sata.Viva PF.

  21. Iwe Ci # 20 stop worrying poor citizens. How do we know for sure that Sata said this or is planning this? Tell Us!. Or perhaps its your way of campaigning for HH coz u know the majority of us support PF. Shame upon you…..

  22. #20 is right that is a Zambia Air Force uniform, u can check that Zambia Army ranks (shoulder tabs of responsibility) are red not green as those in the pic. ZAF has the green ones. the baret is also ZAF. even the combat itself is the famous captain europe ZAF combat.

  23. #28 Mama Zambia, I meant that SATA want to send Zed army for a FRIENDLY WAR WITH ANGOLA once he’s put in plot 1, in his dreams maybe.
Using live bullets, tankers, service men on land and air too.He says we have a poor Zed army and unfit. Is that not cool.
Vote for HH HH and he’s a man of action not dreaming.

  24. When did Sata talk of a war with Angola, and for what reason? To take control of their oil? Maybe the seven firearms he declared make him feel “military” ! Goes to show Sata is not presidential (commander-in-chief) material.

  25. I guess Sata meant Military Simulation “War games”. #4 we already have a war against poverty and HIV/AIDS.

  26. If Sata really meant war with baneba, he should critically analyse what the global village is now and protocols Zambia has signed under SADC.
I’m made to believe he meant a friendly war of us learning from Angola not otherwise.

  27. Every senior officer knows big posts come via undercover loyal to apolitician ascending to plot 1, don’t be cheated, it’s the evidence that is hard to obtain. In any case, those boys are ZAF chaps not Army. LT, do your back ground check before publishing articles or pictures. Anyway, every soldier must be given room to vote freely.

  28. Even Officers are Zambians with the rights every Zambian has.who is Chisushi to tell my officers not be active in politics? we all go through the same problems, education , health name it. you job seeker, let them participate and exercise their rights, you fool.

  29. I’m with you #37- the war game between Russia and Venezuela has sent shivers in the spine of big apple and union jack! lol.

  30. #7 and others who dont know. Hon Sata is the one who said that Zambia needs a friendly war with Angola just to test our defense forces. Hon Sata said this in 2006 when he was campaigning, if I am not mistaken.
Remember also that Zambia almost went to war with Angola in 1998 when Hon. Sata was in the Chiluba MMD administration – the administration that had the most undereducated Zambians leading our great nation.
Zambians, let us all take the wise words of General Chisuzi serious. Zambia deserves better than a comedian Sata. Vote for the UPND’s HH for a ray real of change and hope for all Zambians.

  31. Imwe ama bloggers leave military issues kuli ifwe ama soldiers. If i allow my soldiers to engage in open politics twalaba nga ku Zimbabwe. My soldiers are educated and well fed contrary to what you bloggers are saying.Since when did you see ama soldier ne fi gamba.

  32. Does the general know that these poor soldiers live in Zambia? If they do, then let the general visit the barracks where these souls live. Most of them look better in uniform than they do in their personal clothes. Not to mention the so many that have had their wives grabbed from them because they can not afford to look after them. Not every soldier will be MMD, PF or UPND. These are real people faced with all the same challenges every Zambian faces on a daily basis. I know the general is MMD and he will vote not for development but to keep his job.

  33. Baiche dnt play with Angola they have F16 fighter jets, whilst Zambia maybe 1 or 2 Mig jet fighters bwana you are playing with fire.
Remember not long ago when we where almost hammered if it was not for France and America today Indeni was not going to be around. They had accused us of supplying fuel to UNITA

BY once warned Hon. Sata he is able to release Sata’s file as a Minister in the Chiluba MMD GRZ if Sata continues to utter un-warranted statements against him (BY). I wonder why the ACC have not yet visited BY for him to tell the Nation what he knows about Sata or atleast announced their findings if ever somethingwas done about it.
I strongly believe that BY’s threats on Hon Sata amount to ‘OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE” since he knows something which might help Zambian Voters about Hon Sata, but he (BY) is hidding it currently.

  35. The biggest problem in the army or the entire defence and security is nepotism: indiscpline Generals child and relatives. Merit, physical fitness and discipline are what should define a force.

  37. THE WRITERS WHO ARE TALKING ABOUT WAR WITH ANGOLA MUST THINK TWICE, FIRST THEY SHOULD KNOW ZAMBIA HAS NO WAR SOLDIERS BUT PEACE KEEPERS. THAT IS WHY EVERYTIME THEY ARE SENT TO WAR COUNTRIES,IT IS RARE THAT THEY COME BACK HOME ALIVE.THE REAL THING IS THAT AS ZAMBIANS WE ARE DRUNK WITH PEACE WE HAVE ENJOYED FOR MORE THAN 40YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE.ZAMBIA CAN NOT EVEN FIGHT WITH ZIMBABWE,FEW YEARS AGO WE HAD LES THAN 10THOUSAND SOLDIERS WHILE ZIMBABWE HAD 30 THOUSAND.MAYBE YOU BETTER THINK OF HAVING FREINDLY AND STUPID WAR WITH MALAWI NOT WITH THE MOST EXPERIENCED WAR COUNTRY IN AFRICA.THINK TWICE OR PLEASE GET ADVICE FROM KK. TESTING OUR PEACE ZAMBIANS WOULD DIE LIKE (INSHONKONONO) PRAISE JAH

  38. a 52 peace is more difficulty to sustain than you may want to know and it is not the numbers that matter, nor the equipment but the royalty and love for motherland that makes people willing to defend their countries, okay problem niya kuti ndimwe bana, during the partheid wars in south Africa, the boer wars in Zimbabwe even the Frelimo wars in mozambique ask these guys from the countries you have mentioned who was the backbone force of good quitening what scars you now.My friend a real sodier is knwn on the battlefield.

#52. The person advocating for a FRIENDLY WAR with ANGOLA is no other than Hon. MC Sata – and not the LT bloggers.
#52, I respect your opinion. I trust our Zambian Army and all the other Defense Forces of our great Nation. We can never be intimidated by anyone. We are a people who can do anything, by God’s grace.
Let peace prevail by making sure that Hon MC Sata never ascends to become Zambian President because this will be the most regretable thing in our history as a people – Zambians.

  40. People in zambia make very careless statements. I believe the talk about going to war is just a stupid joke aimed at creating a debate on this column which wont take us anywhere.

  41. zambian soldiers are just drunkerds who cant even fight, most of them are hiv positive cos all they do is just womanise and drink cheap beer, stupid soldiers

  42. Whether it is Sata or HH who said anything about going to war with Angola, the point still remains that you guys who are advocating and speculating going to war simply have no clue what you are treading on! Heed advice to stay clear from what you do not understand – for free consultancy on the ravage that war can bring, call the Angolans and Mozambicans. I bet some of you are not Zambians on this blog

#57, please do not bring HH in something that is very clear. It is Honourable Micheal Sata who mentioned about Zambia having a Friendly War with Angola. Why do you PF’s SATA supports fail to reason on simple and straight forward issues.
One of the radio stations at home must have a recorded version of Sata’s voice with Sata advocating for War with Angola so that the Zambian Soldiers can test War conditions according to him (Sata).

  44. Are you serious #59? I am beginnng to understand why some peole support Hon. MC Sata.

  45. #57 obviously you fail to catch the gist of my statement on 57 and thus miss the point AGAIN! Should we ask again who has failed to reason on simple and straight forward issues? I only hope your preoccupation with certain candidates does not bring a paranoid suspicion that everybody is against you when they contribute independently here. By the way I am not a PF supporter sir.

  46. PLEASE ALL THE GENERAL IS SAYING IS SOLDIERS CANNOT SHOW OPEN PARTISAN SUPPORT BUT THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE IS STILL INTACT. EVEN IN USA SOLDIERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO STATE PUBLICLY THEIR CHOICE NOR JOIN ANY POLITICAL PARTY BUT THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE FOR WHOMEVER THEY LIKE AS INDVIDUALS. DEFENCE AND SECURITY IS AN ISSUE OF NATIONAL INTEREST

  47. It is not surprising that u civilians can be in forefront discussing war in this manner and start insulting soldiers and officers, it is because u have been impregnated with too much peace that u have been enjoying for so many years.U don’t really know who a soldier is how tough tested he/she is. All the days are yours, but only one belongs to a soldier and u will come to know him and this soldier will rule u.

  48. The idiocy by meastro hehehehe has not stopped. You claim to be educated and succesfull, meanwhile you exposive such foolishness on the blog.

  49. LT am disappointed with the misrepresentation. Your story is about Army and yet you’re showing us Airforce Officers. Besides, it’s not like these guys: Army, Airfoce, Police or ZNS do not have or are commanded not to have any polical dealings completely.
By law thay are allowed to vote but can not afford to show off their prefered cadidates openly and so is the contentious position of Chiefs. They are in any counrty, the greatest measure of patriotism and unity therefore above partisan, tribal or regional affiliation of any kind. That’s all The General is trying to re-emphasise I suppose.
