Government Confirms Intention to Evacuate Chishimba Kambwili for Medical Treatment

Share

The government has reiterated its commitment to evacuating former Patriotic Front (PF) Cabinet Minister Chishimba Kambwili to South Africa for medical treatment, despite recent events surrounding his illegal departure from Zambia and subsequent deportation from Zimbabwe.

Health Minister Sylvia Masebo confirmed this decision during a press briefing held in Lusaka. Minister Masebo clarified that President Hakainde Hichilema has not revoked his directive to evacuate Kambwili, emphasizing the government’s obligation to ensure the former minister receives the necessary medical attention.

Despite Kambwili’s unauthorized flight to Zimbabwe and subsequent deportation back to Zambia by Zimbabwean authorities, Minister Masebo emphasized the severity of Kambwili’s condition upon his return. She revealed that Kambwili was in a critical state upon arrival and is currently receiving treatment at Maina Soko Medical Centre. Medical personnel have since stabilized him, and the government plans to evacuate him to South Africa either on Sunday or Monday.

During the joint press briefing, Minister Masebo emphasized that only Kambwili’s family members are permitted to visit him, as he requires adequate rest for his recovery. She expressed disappointment at attempts to politicize Kambwili’s medical situation and urged the public to focus on his health rather than engaging in political rhetoric.

In a related development, Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu criticized a particular tabloid for suggesting that government agents were sent to retrieve Kambwili. Minister Mwiimbu clarified that the Zimbabwean government decided to deport Kambwili due to his failure to comply with immigration procedures. Despite Kambwili’s alleged offenses, Minister Mwiimbu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to evacuating him for medical treatment.

  1. It’s now 2 weeks since you said your boss had authorized you to evacuate CK for treatment. When his condition deteriorated, his family decided to do it themselves and booked him on Air Rwanda. You came in and cancelled that trip. Tell the nation the truth. CK came out and said the reason you stopped him from travelling was because he refused to heed your demands for him to recognize Miles Sampa as PF President. What you’re doing is wrong and one day you’ll answer for it. Jack Mwiimbu is sick in the head, he can’t think properly

    • @ General Kanene.

      So you believe Jack Mwiimbu?

You’re the same chaps defending HH when he said there was no case to answer about crooked Stanley Kakubo as Foreign Minister. HH knew the truth and lied to the nation. They went as far as intimidating Munir Zulu (MP) when he was trying to blow the whistle. Guess What? HH had to eat his humble pie in the end and demote him.

    • I am not spelling, always checking if Kambwili has died or not. Kambwili is no factor please ba Mwimbu.
I personally asked Sylvia what’s up with Kambwili to South Africa. She said they couldn’t take him last week because Ba HH was there with his Mining Indada business friends.
But then I asked WHY specifically South Africa, and not UK where Kambwili’s wife is a nurse? She sent me a “fvck you” emoji.

    • Was he admitted to any hospital in Zimbabwean if not Why he choose to go there when he was about to be taken to SA. Since he is NOT in gvt does he qualify to use tax payer’s monies?

  2. The problem with this failed government is failure to do the right thing. If Kambwili dies it will be on HH. You cook up a law to suppress other people. What is hate speech? Zambians have for 60 years said thing to one another. I grew up being called a monkey and a called others mbeba and no one went to jail for that. People were proud to be called a cow. Being tonga is an identity and no one should ashamed of being Tonga or Lozi. People should be proud of being called Lenge or Ila because that is an identity. Zambians should be proud they look at their NRCs and know who they are.

  3. Government should arrange to evacuate all of us who are on cancer treatment which is not available in Zambia because our Fix It government has failed to fix the equipment. People with government connections are being sent to Tanzania while the ones without connection will only cling to hope. We pay taxes so what’s this unnecessary hoolabaloo on Kambwili?

    • Deja Vu, i agree. Either govt evacuates all Zambians needing similar support or evacuate no one. Why should certain people’s health be more important than other Zambians? Families have gone broke paying for treatment of their relatives in India, Tanzania South africa UK etc. all in their own. This is one Zambia one nation different status of people

  4. What is Kambwili suffering from, you mean in Zambia you cant treat BP? You mean even at Maina Soko, you dont have competent doctors to treat Kambwili? I what is it that Kambwili is suffering that requires to evacuate him to SA?

  5. Kambwili needed to lose weight, reduce stress and enjoy life little more. Theres nothing they’ll do for him in S. Africa. Don’t forget that the man stole a lot of money during his tenure as PF minister. You mean he Can’t afford to pay his own medical bills? There are more deserving Zambians with less resources who have been law abiding, who may also have a better chance of survival with the right treatment.

    • Prove what Kambwili store with HH holding ACC in his pocket. ACC should be investigating the privatization thief who is busy renovating his house with our tax payers money.

  6. Governent shall invest in fee paying private run, tax holiday enjoying hospitals.

NHIMA is a white elephant created by dullards. So is IDC, NAPSA, Workers Compensation Board and similar outfits that pay out hefty saleries and allowances to political appointees. NHIMA is run by a clueless Lucifer relative of the Minister. NHIMA will be broke within next two years. NAPSA is a vehicle to siphon off pensioners money to invest in projects that favor politically connected and favored individuals and groups. Conduct forensic audit of IDC, NAPSA, NHIMA, Ministry of Finance, Labour, Mines, Agriculture and Defence. Rotten to the core.

  7. Surely is this how low the health system has fallen in Zambia that we don’t even have capacity to treat a crook and we have to fly him abroad for treatment at taxpayers expense? Forgive me if I decide to cheat on my taxes.

  8. I would rather belive GRZ, ………

    Than 720° + 90° CK ……….

Who is now hallucinating that GRZ wants to get rid of him because he is more popular than HH……….

  9. The 2 Ministers of (1) Home Affairs and (2) Health are either displaying absurd disloyalty to their President; OR they are merely implementing the President’s hidden agenda to punish Hon. Chishimba Kambwili. So far, the nation is witnessing the greater depth of hostility being meted out to the non-Bantu-Botatwe peoples of Zambia. Martin Luther King, Nkrumah, Nyerere, Mandela and our KK shall forever be remembered for their positive legacy for the good of humanity. However, politicians must aspire to be documented on the right civilized side of HISTORY to be assessed by our generations.

  11. Zambians are not interested in Govt’s issuance of PROMISSARY NOTES that have NOT improved the quality of human life.
