Kalaba Is One of Africas Best-Renard

Share

Herve Renard has said he rates influential playmaker Rainford Kalaba as one of top 15 players in Africa.

Kalaba has so far won two man of the match awards at the ongoing Africa cup in Equatorial Guinea from four games played and scored one goal.

Renard said at his Sunday briefing at Hotel Elik Melen in Bata where the team is staying that had Kalaba not been suspended for the 2010 quarterfinal match that Zambia lost to Nigeria on post-match penalties in Angola, the complexion of that match would have been different.

“You know when we played the 2010 quarterfinals he was suspended and yesterday before the game I said we are lucky because Rainford is here,” Renard said.

“For me he is one of the best players in Africa, maybe in the top 15.

“Do you know the name his teammate are calling him on the pitch? They are calling him master.

“When they are asking for the ball they call out master, master!

“I think the word can only explain everything and how important he is to the team.”

  1. Ba LT, then you add what you think the backdrop is for the comment the coach made. You dropped the story….incomplete!

  2. I have always held that view, nomba fye abaiche aba, He shud hav bin playing in Champions League by now but would prefer TP Mazembe where he wud sneak in the Copperbelt very often for soup ya mbuzi.

  3. Master who has no club and who is unfit…nyone can easily see that after 60th min the kid is knackered…only renard cant see….

  4. WOW WOW WOW MASTER! IT IS ALWAYS GOOD IF A GROUP IS ABLE TO IDENTIFY AND AFFIRM ONE ANOTHER’S TALENTS AND GIFTS. UNLIKE WHEN YOU BEGIN TO FEEL JEALOUS, THE TEAM SPIRIT VANISHES. WE ARE BEHIND YOU GUYS. BE A TEAM AND WORK TOGETHER, AS ALWAYS!

  5. \:d/\:d/\:d/:x:x:x the father was better than Kalusha….at Blackpool. i hope the young lad can finally make a big move into European football and not South Africa.

  6. This guy has the talent to ply his trade with teams like Baca (Bacelona). He is clearly an intelligent player and my only hope is that the powers that be will not poke their fingers into his prospects.

  7. It’s amazing watching Zambian games on Eurosports, and bathing in positive remarks about this Kalaba… You know what fellow bloggers? if he was not that good, he would have won the hearts of chief commentetors here… the boy is good! reminds me of Chali musonda!!!

  8. indeed some aspects of charles musonda in his play. he needs to try to get into a good european league and do well

  9. He’s always been the engine f the Chipolopolo the last few years, top geezer. We suffered in the 2010 1/4 final cuz he was missing. Bring on Ghana/Tunisia, Gyan who??????

  11. The boy is good help him to do more mr. Renard. May I ask for info is Kalaba the son of Mr. Adrian Kalaba in Kitwe, Forestry Dept

  12. But whats with the loss of life evry time zed wins? I’m becoming apprehensive, hope ama guys tabale bomfya ifimiti. And I dont like their hair cuts – Kalaba and Stopilla – is it DRCongo influence?

Other than that, the boys are doing a great job so far.

  13. Ba Simunyola,
what is this talk about mankhwala naimwe?

Keep to your closing remark. That is the way to go.

Well done Chipolopolo! Keep going boys.

  14. Kalaba needs a good coach to groom him into a solid midfield General. Like Charles Musonda or Jericho Shinde …….. I think Ghana is a better matchup for us. Let the best team win!!

  15. What I’m doing b4 thy game I touch thy screen and pray 4thy players let’s pray 2gether zambians this cup is on our nose touch thy screen kalaba master keep it up remember god in your talent up coming charles musonda & does any1 no if charles musonda’s children will ever play 4 chipolopolo

  16. Kalaba really plays well, we thank God for him and the rest of the team. Come Wednesday we surprise over confident Ghana!!!!!!!!

  17. first and foremost kalaba is better than most of fluffers in the english premier league which most inferio minded and brainwashed zambians watch religiously. Most teams in the EPL are far below the skills the zambia national team has. In the Epl players cant control, trap a ball; cant even do a decent shot on goal. The referees in the epl are pathetic, do those referees go for training or they just pick any guy that can blow the whisle.

    • Kalaba mu kali! And i agree with you, english premier league is pathetic, I hope none of the Zambian players will go there. Look at the way our TP mazembe players are playing, its fantastic.

  18. #18 Twaya, Kalaba is the son of Mr. Kalaba Rainford Snr of Mopani Copper Mines Mufulira. His father is a mechanical engineer.

  19. Kalaba you are doing us  a lot of good and we are proud of you . Keep it up boy. We are praying for you and the entire team.

  20. Kalaba skill wise is more than ready for Europe. But his social life would see him fizzle out like so many. He needs a good manager and not an ***** to exploit his talent

  21. Yes the young man is very good, he has skill more that Wayne Rooney & many other English players.
Some times the way he chases the ball as if he does not want, he shud put in much effort when playing.

The guys plays for TP Mazembe together with Stophira Sunzu, I head the money Katumbi pays them its better they play for Tp Mazembe to save on cost like Tranport accormodation there but since congo is a neighbouring country the money looks enough better than ku ba Sungu.

  23. kalaba veri gud but he should work on fittness the other man was spot on when he said the boy gets tired,Wishing him well, for the rest eyes on the ball and the cup.

  24. Kalaba is good. I hope he has a counsellor who should help to avoid him going the disastrous route that many good Zambian footballers have taken.

  25. Zambians impressed me for once when they came together as one to change government, that is what brothers in arms do. however the Pull Him Down Syndrom stil lingers in the Zambian brothers. Talk about Sunzu, Katongo, Kalaba etc, the guys are just good and ain’t nothing you can do about it or you are just jelouse as usual. Ba MYSELF & BA DANIEL AMOKACHI BUSHEMWABASHANI BA ZAMBIA! BANKOSAMITWE IMWE… oh ….. and the coach … H Renard? you pushed him out of Zambia in 2008 and recieved him with lots of criticisms last year… am sure you don’t like it when Zambia is winning because Renard’s words are hitting you direct in the faces now. remeber his comment when he just come last year? ….”Zambians are good at talking, but my job is to win” (not verbatim) go Zambia go!

  26. The boy is talented. It pains me to see him play his football career at TP Mazembe. He deserves to be in a better league in Europe.

  27. Kalaba and Mayuka they are my main boys. I think they have more potential than Drogba. All they need is to be forecast and determined on the ball. One of them can scoop the African footballer of 2012. Amaka mwalikwata baice but mulefwaika ukuyabomfya. For once we have another chalie cool in the making. keep it up boys its our chance.

  28. I wish this boy his best, he should go to europe. But not EPL because it is not interesting and full of makulas.

    • Do you watch the EPL. Toughest league in the world. Not for the light hearted. Bump and Grind Football. It’s a grafter’s league. You work for your money. You also get payed well. The average salary of an EPL player is 50 000 pounds a week i.e. 100 000 dollars per week. It’s big and awesome. If you are lazy, don’t bother. You’ll be exposed. Only the strongest players can last in the English League. It’s physical and tough. If you have skill, it helps but it’s not enough. You need a higher gear to survive. That’s why players like Asamoah Gyan and Robinho disappeared because they could not cope with the physical demands of the English Game. It’s fast, it’s furious. Do your research first before you comment.

  29. Kalaba is a great player all he needs is a good Councillor and he must improve on accurate passes. I see this Master’s contribution taking the team to finals through Ghana’s game and finally the trophy back home.Ivory coast is not a threat as they do not have a game tactical approach but only individual brilliance which the guys will definitely contain.

Lets talk about HR after AFCON.

  30. He is a skilled player intelligent and are target for most teams and with the hard work from young Sinkala, Rainford is free to roam and attack from all angles…but hats off to Herve for getting the best out of him…he first played Rainford in the middle of the park, twin striker and against Sudan on the wing he confused the opponent, Ghana are a good team but not a unit, will be a good match…may the best man win

  31. Kalaba is a player we need to cherish and protect because they are not many players of his quality around. His pace, dribbling skills, vision and finishing are top draw. Without any disrespect to TP Mazembe, he deserves to ply his trade in Europe. He needs some sound advice because he will fit in any side in the top European Leagues. I am particularly impressed with his attitude and work ethic. He seems like a lad who is down to earth as well. Mancini and Alex Ferguson better take note. There are so many mediocre players in England who can’t touch this kid in footballing terms. I wish a European football scout could give this enormously talented prospect a chance. He deserves to play football at the highest level. I wish him luck. I will be blowing the trumpet for him in England.

  32. To say Kalaba is one of Africa’s best is an understatement. He’s world class. I have watched football week in week out in England for the past 28 years. I have seen very few players of his quality. He reminds me of David Silva (Spanish) of Manchester City. They have a very similar style. Manchester United’s midfield is shaky at the moment. He would fit in the Man U midfield today. His asset is his versatility. He’s the kind of player a coach would just say Do your thing. He’s a good reader of the game. On the other hand, there are other upcoming youngsters in the Zambian squad who deserve applause. Mayuka has impressed as a striker. He’s two footed, can dribble and a good header of the ball. Complete striker. Better still, he can operate on the wings. The future is bright foe Zambia.

  33. Kalaba is Zambias best player. The boy is at the same level as Kalu or Maradona. Just wait and see how many European clubs will be in queue for him. Hope he goes to Belgium. Umwaiche mukali, not because I am a Zedian, but it is simply the fact. Ghana are good but we will beat them, chapwa

  34. Greetings from California! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your site on my iphone during lunch break.
