Former First Lady Esther Lungu says her and her family have never stolen anything.Speaking after over eight hours of trial earlier in the week , in a case where she stands charged for owning property suspected to be proceeds of crime, Mrs Lungu charged that her family was being prosecuted.
She vowed to remain resilient saying God knows that her family was innocent from the prosecution they were going through.
“God is big, and he is the one we are leaning on! I will not be shaken! We never stole anything, and God knows,” the former First Lady said.“We are going to dance to man’s tune, But God knows as there is always light at the end of the tunnel. They are not taking away our lives”
She complained that none of the other former First Ladies has gone through what she is going through. “How many First Ladies have gone through what I am going through? Anyway, God knows,” she said.
However this claim has been refuted with past articles showing the Former First Lady Thandiwe Banda was taken to court by PF government ,her property – Mpundu Trust Flats – seized by ACC and tenants evicted for two years on ground that she built it with stolen funds. The Former first Lady Thandiwe Banda went through the court until she was cleared.
1. Thandiwe Banda property seized
2.Times of Zambia appologies to Thandiwe Banda
3.State blocks former President Rupiah Banda from traveling
4.Former President Banda arrested
In the ongoing proceedings, the court has allowed a bank official from First National Bank (FNB) to avail the court with some bank statements of Ms. Lungu and her Foundation, the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust. The court wants to know the value of capacity of Mrs. Lungu’s known income. The Director of Public Prosecutions seeks to forfeit her 15 double-storey flats to the state, alleging they are proceeds of crime.
Yes you did steal. You and your family stole. You are gonna face the music.
You mother far car
Na maliketi Ester Lungu benefitted more from Sata’s death than educated Sata widow Dr. Christina Kaseba.
……..
Mama lungu……
Just show them your tax recites , …….
And you will be left alone
Mama Esther, you and your husband and childreen together with other PF thieves borrowed heavily our behalf. Then you stole and salted away a large part of it for yourself, your children and grand children. Now,its my children and grand children who shall carry the burden of debt for you and your families. You will never feel the hurt of debt because you are so unpatriotic and selfish you stole the food from the mouths of my children….IVO SIUZACHITA!!
Yes Leave her alone despite what her and ECL have taken
WHY because its a waste of money !!!! ACC DPP and police do not have the will or capcity to handle such, relationships bribes etc etc
these cases will always be an embarrassment to GRZ if they dont bring in procescuters from outside
The problem is that we have the “double jeopardy” law in Zambia meaning that if you prosecute them prematurely, and they walk, you cannot prosecute them again for them same crime, when you have more conclusive evidence. That being said, I agree with you that the wheels of justice in Zambia turn too slowly.
Yes Leave her alone despite what her and ECL have taken
WHY because its a waste of money !!!
waste of time; such thinking, no wonder Zambia is poor!
Leave her alone? Yayi its our money. There are two types of thieves in Zambia: Those who steal and know they are stealing and those who steal and pretend not to know they are stealing. I was a civil servant and I know that nowadays people are just placed in office without being taught Civil Service ethics. NIPA was set up to orient civil servants like Ms Lungu, Kawana, Pilato who are recruited into high office.
These civil servants need to know that ethics dictate that any gift you receive while on duty must be brought to the office and declared Civil service property by your boss. You’re allowed a maximum that you can keep and I know its tiny. Mrs Lungu would receive gifts and keep them. Kapena Ni natolafye. Why fly all the way to America to receive fire engines when they can be put on a ship to Zambia at a fraction of your expenses? Normally that kind of wasteful expenditure your boss asks you to refund.
ACC DPP and police do not have the will or capcity to handle such, relationships backhands etc etc
The discourse surrounding former First Lady Esther Lungu’s statement and the government’s response underscores the importance of transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership in governance. By employing a multidisciplinary approach that integrates concepts from dynamic systems theory and mathematics, we can gain valuable insights into the complexities of corruption allegations and their implications for governance in Zambia. Moving forward, it is imperative for the GRZ to address these allegations decisively and take concrete steps to uphold integrity and accountability in public office.
You are being too intellectual for no reason. What does mathematics have to do with criminal justice and law enforcement?
The discourse surrounding Mrs. Lungu’s statement highlights the inherent complexities of governance and accountability within a dynamic system. The public outcry and skepticism directed towards the PF administration reflect a broader sentiment of distrust in political institutions and leaders. By invoking the concept of a dynamic system, we can better understand the interconnectedness of variables and events that shape governance and societal dynamics.
The application of mathematical principles in analyzing dynamic systems can provide insights into causality and accountability. In this case, the initial conditions set by past administrations, such as the PF government, may have contributed to the current state of affairs and allegations of corruption. Understanding these dynamics can help pinpoint where accountability lies and how corrective measures can be implemented to restore public trust in governance.
Mr Chisebwe. Please, you need psycho-social counselling as a matter of urgency
@MuZambian: He is trying to display his education far too much. The reality of the matter is that he is being verbose, and communicating little of value
Just a simple question….how come you only managed to build 15 luxury apartments after your husband became President…how much was your salary as a first lady ..are first ladies on Government payroll???….where did you get the money???…The Problem in Africa there’s no accountability…our leaders even put their relatives who are in the villages on Government payroll
Thank you
Sometimes better to just keep quiet and try to save face quietly. I mean how didbyour so called family jump from -50 Kwacha in your bank account to USD millionaires over a short period of time on that small presidential salary? Mum, please sit down and shut the funk up!
I completely agree. But then again, the brazenness with which they stole suggests that they never thought that they would leave power, be scrutinised, and held to account.
Okay mummy nga tamwaibile tell us how you made your millions? If you fail to disclose the source of your riches……chances are that it’s theft.
Yes,Zambian universities would gladly make the Lungu family business acumen a case study in their Schools of Business Studies curriculum. How they made $27 million in seven years
@MuZambian: Kaizar Zulu was here disparaging anyone who though US $1.5 million was a lot of money. I do not think that Lungu stole $27 million or $270 million. His loot is in the billions.
“Tatwaibile. Twatolelefye”
……….
I think we need to pass a law , ………
so all presidents, their family and ministers are investigated when they leave office……..
The stealing to too much……
I agree
Sorry madam it will pass, the President is not involved, it is the law. meanwhile our beloved colleagues at ZESCO, power was supposed to be restored at 14hrs here in Mtendere/PHI after going at 06 this morning, switched off even earlier, it is now 15 15hrs, there is still no power, has the switcher knocked off
Well said
@ Spaka
I agree with you 110%….and also they should declare all their assets before they’re put on the ballot box….and after they leave office they need to declare how much they made and also they need to be investigated…but unfortunately ZRA is so compromised together with the Anti Corruption
We were not a part of the PF inner circle but CK was. CK made serious corruption allegations against your husband while he was still in office. Many of us believed what he said because we also compared how your lives had been transformed. You became business moguls you never were and we all wondered what kind of business brought you such kind of money. In the meantime there were rumours that your son was the mukula smuggling kingpin. Although we sympathize with you there’s nothing we can do at the moment except to wish you well. May the Almighty make it easy for you
There is no thief that admits to being a thief.
Yes Razor. There is a code of honor among thieves:”KUFWA NA ‘NO'”
That money which was buried by a Minister on his farm. Is it circulating in the markets? because I heard that the judge gave it back to the thieving minister.
ZESCO power gone again in PHI/Mtendere as like every evening, despite being loadsheddded from 06hrs, if there is a problem, why not put up a public statement so we know what the issue is. We pay for this service, it is not free
We need to know how someone can have so many properties on a Zambian Ministerial salary. All people are asking for is the declaration of how much all the properties cost to build and where the money came from. Simple.
There should be a death sentence for looters of the magnitude like Esther Lungu & her whole family of thieves. She doesn’t even have the shame of a thief, just like her husband & children.
Mwatolele fye…
I Hate Kaizer.
Yes,I meant the Lungu family stole $270million.But if it is in billions, then Lord have his mercy!.There are reports of a 68 year old woman banker in Vietnam who stole billions in public funds. She has just been sentenced to death
