Government disappointed with selfish UPND politicians

Minister Fackson Shamenda

Chief Government Spokesperson Fackson Shamenda has expressed disappointment at some UPND leaders who are allegedly inciting youths in Southern province to demonstrate against the realignment of districts in the province.

Mr. Shamenda has since cautioned youths against being incited to demonstrate on matters that they do not understand saying they risk being misled by UPND selfish politicians.

Mr. Shamenda was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday.

He said the demonstrations can only become a fundamental basic human right when protesters fail to utilize the normal established channels of communication.

He urged young people to engage into dialogue and desist from rushing into demonstrations because the exercise was retrogressive to national development.

Mr. Shamenda, who is also Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Labour, said demonstrations were legal when solidarity matches are taken up after dialogue has failed between the two parties.

Mr. Shamenda noted that youths in Southern province did not understand what they wanted adding that such moves might cause anarchy in the nation.

He further urged leaders not use youths to instigate violence in the country but should strive to make Zambia a peaceful country.

The Minister regretted that some leaders were restricting their interests only to their regions and not the nation at large.

Mr. Shamenda explained that national leaders were not supposed to regionalize were they came from, describing the move as unfortunate.

Recently, United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema indicated that government should not threaten demonstrators in Southern province because doing so was their basic fundamental human right.

  1. this man’s face looks so disgusting ..pliz help him shave properly..yaba!!leave that SP story alone ..you guys didnt consult them..let them demonstrate ..whats your problem..dirty face!!

  2. What a foolish minister this is. He even acknoledges that the youths don’t know what thay are fighting against, well why didn’t you explain to them before goin out and making the desicion of moving the districts without consultation. This govt is becoming like RB’s govt, thay can’t listen to anybody else’s opinion apart frm themselves.
    How foolish of Shamenda.
    I regret voting for PF.

  3. Mr Shamenda shud jst warndown. The man failled as ZCTUZ general secretary. Now that he has found some employment ,HE WANT TO THINK that other people are not inteligent.HE SHUD NO THAT ..IT IS NOT RIGHT FOR THE HEAD OF STATE TO SAY THAT THE COLONIAL DID NOT CONSULT ANYONE WHEN THEY CREATING THESE COUNTRIE.
HE SHUD KNOW THAT WE ARE NOLONGER UNDER THAT TIME.
OOOWHAT WE NEED IS SOLUTIONS TO THE UNMPLOYMENT.LOW SALARIES ,POOR HOUSING FOR WORKERS.

  4. O.K Shamenda tell PF to start implementing developmental projects in other 72 districts of the country, People in other districts cant wait any more. We are tired of hearing UPND this, UPND that. just let those two districts be. If the PF’s re-alignment model in really meant for real development, then we will see how this decentalization will work in other 72 districts. And people will judge UPND appropriately.  Is your govt not implementing developmental projects (including your decentralization model) because of youths protesting in the SP? Dont tell us that UPND is hindering development in the other districts beacuse of their protests (Police should deal with them if they break the law).
PF’s Govt is just proving to be a govt of just talking with no action.

  5. I just don’t understand why African politicians are so scared of divergent views. If those youths were going to march in solidarity with the PF decision, the same Shamenda would have been praising them.

  6. WHEN MUYOMBE AND CHAMA WAS REALLIGNED TO MUCHINGA PROVINCE NO ONE FROM EASTERN PROVINCE COMPLAINED. WHEN CHIRUNDU AND ITT IS REALLIGNED TO LSK UPND STARTD INCITING SOUTH CHIEFS TO RISE AGAINST GOVT. WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO PROVE? THAT THEY ARE  A REGIONAL PARTY?

  7. Bulshit..! just like his ugly face flooded wit stinking beards. To hel with yr crap. This is not about HH, ist about southerners and their own ECONOMIC VIBRANT DISTRICTS at risk of being whisked away from them, come on ***** Minister of Nonsense.!

  8. Ok Shamenda, we want to dialogue over this realignment issue. Could you ask your boss to give us an audience? I hope you will have shaved by the time of the meeting. You look so disgusting.

  9. Everyone who has spoken against Shamenda have just proven how narrow minded they are…. Much as I am a southerner I see nothing wrong in realligning the two districts, execept for the *****IC and STUPID UPND Cadres together chief ***** HH WHO WILL NEVER RULE THIS COUNTRY…. STUPID TRIBALISTS BANA BA IMBWA IMWE

  10. Interesting indeed. Shamenda is saying youths should first exhaust dialogue before demonstrating. But he forgets that the problem was in the first place caused by his boss Sata who FAILED to dialogue with Southerners BEFORE announcing the realignment. No one is opposed to realignment, but the problem is the lack of consultation – and consultation means dialogue. Why doesn’t Shamenda first tell his boss that consultation is necessary before making decisions? Would the youths be talking about demonstrating if dialogue had been undertaken before the realignment? So, Mr Sham, get down to the reality, do not feed us on talk about sham dialogue…

  11. senseless shamenda he cant say anything against the cobra. its venom will be too deadly for him to withstand. tukabamona ba fikala mu 2016 nabatumpa sana.

  12. It would not be a sign of weakness of the Government of Kaponyas for Kaponyas by Kaponyas to simply retrieve this rejected decision.Create more jobs, put money in people’s pockets, lower taxes,re-introduce windfall tax, fight corruption no-selectively,stop nepotism…only then can frustrated people can see your commitment to leading the so called one zambia one nation.Dont use this redrawing of districts and provinces to divert people’s attention in observing your performance

  13. “Mr. Shamenda, who is also Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Labour, said demonstrations were legal when solidarity matches are taken up after dialogue has failed between the two parties”. Who told you that Hon Shamenda? Or you have joined the bandwagon of Bob Sichinga and his fake trillion.

  14. Mr Shamenda, yours is a one man show. don’t blame the people for your hopeless decisions. We already have numerous problems and PF should have started by attending to these problems. What do we see instead? You are creating more problems. The people of zambia gave you the mandate to rule in consultation with them. they are your masters and you are their workers. You ought top get instructions from your employers and not the other way round. Develop Chongwe, Chilanga, Katubi, Kafue and all those areas within the 50km radius before you start lying to us.

  15. Okay Hon Minister, first things first. Trim your beard, and then find the original source of all the problems, that is not rocket science is it?

  16. I think this stupid Pathetic Fools (PF) government should leave southern province and all the districts/towns under developed just like western province and indeed just like they have always been. This is what the people in those places want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just go and take your dishevelment to your new muchinga province. These so called under developed districts or whatever you call them have been like that ever since and the people have not complained. DEVELOPMENT YA MATUVI…………………………………

  17. Please kindly leave UPND out of this. We know that they are a threat to your political power. How are they inciting the youth. You blind leaders. Stone age politics. Too late for you to start crying like babies and finding someone to be for your dirtyness

  18. Why cant this government leave this decision if people are protesting the alignment is really going to make a difference if they just left this issue alone.Awe sure Zambia naweve ba lozi uku ati barotse land honestly we should be focusing on developing our country than spending time and money on issues that are plunging our country into more poverty.

  19. If itezhi-tezhi was realigned to central prov. for admin purpose – how cos Kabwe is further than Choma. Makes little or no sence, only God knows all. Well, whats important is to explain to people to understand and appreciate.

  20. When muchinga province was made HH accused Sata and PF of taking national resources only to northern province where sata comes from, now sata and PF takes same policy to southern province again HH ACCUSE THEM OF SOMETHING. What do this underfive boy really undersatand or want? such political leader are dagerious

  21. Shamenda’s mind-set is as unshaven as his wild face. His best niche is a Gorilla’s cage at Munda Wanga or London Zoo.

  22. H H IS STILL BITTER, HE KNOWS HE WILL LOSE SOUTHERN SUPPORT WHEN REALIGNMENT IS DONE. HE HINKS HE IS THE DONE OS SOUTH.

  23. These guys have been in power for four months? It surely feels like 4 years. They are trully boring, uninspiring and down right monotonous. When Shamenda talks, I see Shikapwasha in the old days, simply tired, haggard and shell shocked. HH and Chipimo look fresh and youthful. How interesting. What a paradox!

  24. DULL AND CHAPS CANNOT EVEN ADDRESS ISSUES SHAMENDA IS CITING,ALL THEY CAN PICK AND TALK ABOUT IS HIS CHOSEN FACIAL APPEARANCE.WHETHER SHAMENDA IS UGLY OR DOES NOT SHAVE IS NOT THE ISSUE,CAN SOMEBODY OPPOSED TO REALIGNMENT OF NATIONAL ADMINISTRATION AT LEAST PRETEND TO GIVE A REASONABLE OPPOSIING VIEW DEVOID OF PERSONAL HATRED AND PREJUDICE,CAN WE DISCUSS INTELLIGENTLY BANE.

  25. Fellow country men & women let us subject the question of the BA64 to a national referendum. It will put to rest this potentially divisive issue to rest.
Many countries have been faced with situations like we have and have called national referendums to help address such issues. Canada did the same on the question of Quebec and the UK is planning one on the issue of Scotland.
We have many pressing issue that need immediate attention and we cannot afford this distraction.
This BA64 cannot go on unresolved

  26. Very dirty, can sumone help him, obvious anunka uyu, i wonder what his bamba or bombasa looks like.

  27. #25 Only people whose home area is Western Province can vote in such a referndum. It is never national. In the UK only the Scottish will vote on the question of Scotlands independence. In Canada only Quebecois have been allowed to vote in a number of referenda on Quebecs Independence from Canada. It is a pity that Zambia’s political history has been kept a guarded secret by the powers that be. Even the Civics subject is thin. People should be reminded that the BA64 only got signed after a Referendum was held in Barotseland. Those who were opposed to joining Zambia termed the Referendum as Lifu la Ndambo i.e The death of a compatriot!

  28. Please shave your face, wear a starched shirt, put on your neck tie properly and don’t forget to wear a nicely dry-cleaned suit … you are the main government spokesperson for crying out loud. A lot of people are checking us out having been crowned African Champions and we have to display high levels of fashion etiquette and class.
