President Michael Sata has expressed his condolences to the Lewanika family over the death of their mother Mrs. Namaya Lewanika. The late Mrs. Lewanika, who was the mother to Ambassador Inonge Mbikusita – Lewanika and Mr. Akashambatwa Mbikusita – Lewanika, among others died this morning at Lewanika General Hospital in Mongu.
President Sata has learnt with a deep sense of sadness, the unfortunate demise of the late Mrs. Lewanika.
“On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Zambia and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to express our most sincere and deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” the President said.
“We commiserate with the bereaved family and join them in spirit, prayerful reflection, and beseech the Almighty to grant them solace and fortitude to bear this great loss. May the soul of the late Mrs. Lewanika rest in eternal peace.”

Death is the natural order to the end of life. When a person has lived a long life, celebrate their passing. Mourning is for those who die young.

there’s no need to pretend to mourn on tribal lines here, the woman was obviously too old because her children are great grandparents. for such an old timer we simply celebrate her life, i dont think her children even want this kind of pretense, she has finally gone to rest, she ate well i’m sure.

This is not politics and the President as the father of the Nation should mourn with all Zambians irrespective of their political inclination. This family is iconic in Zambia and any well meaning Zambian should appreciate the contribution they have made to this nation.
