Why does Zambian Embassy in South Africa ignore Zambians cry over Yellow fever deportations

Share

I wish to air my complaint against the Zambian Embassy in South Africa. When an American is stranded or mistreated in another country, their embassy and US government moves in to help that person like a responsible father would do to his son.

In one week, a total of 87 Zambians where sent back at Beit bridge border after being denied entry into South Africa for not having yellow fever books and for having old yellow fever books even if it is valid but as long as it is not deep yellow in color. They were dumped at the Zimbabwean side.

The experience is very horrific and I wouldn’t like a fellow Zambian to go through the same. This continued and one lady was robbed and became stranded at the Zim border. The Zambian government never attends to such issues with concern, it never bothers them.

Bravo to the Nigerian government for the way they reacted by sending back South africans also after 150 Nigerians were denied entry and sent back from the South africa O.R Tambo airport for not having yellow fever books.

Whenever a Zambian visits the embassy in South Africa, they are not treated like their own.Why is this so?

I hope the PF government will do better in this area. I urge the new ambassador to Souht Africa to be more welcoming and helpful. A lot of people
complain about the treatment they get from there. The Zambian government must also start sending back South Africans who do not produce yellow books
upon entry into Zambia. Its time Zambians became united and supported one another. Matter of fact, we have no yellow fever in Zambia, so the South African government must stop discrimination against foreigners.

  1. This week responded to the South Africans deportation of Nigerians because of the same Yellow Fever issue. They just sent back a all lot of South Africans at Lagos Airport in response. The South African government apologised and stopped the yellow fever business for Nigerians. What Zambia needs to do is to apply the same to South Africans.

    • John I agree. Especially since there are so many underqualified South Africans working as managers of all these big companies.

    • All these big companies you are refering to happen to be OUR South African companies. You must be dumb to think that we can surrender the top positions to you! Why dont you create your own big companies and see if you are not going to reserve the strategic positions for your own nationals. You must be living in lalaland! You and your Nigerian drug traffickers are just jealousy of South Africans. Just continue defaecating in your Lusaka and Lagos streets. We will deport you if you attempt to bring your sh.i.t into SA!

  2. It is because South Africa don’t think they are Africans, and because they don’t need Zambia.

They are an ungrateful ignorant lot.

  3. This is very true, we should unite and start sending South Africans back. The bad part is that South Africans living in Zambia enter South Africa without Yellow fever certificates, what sense is in this? this is pure discrimination. We have no yellow fever in Zambia…… why should we be tortured with painful vaccinations for prevention against a disease we don’t have.

  4. All my life in Zambia, I have never seen anyone with yellow fever. I think its high time we responded to this yellow fever nonsense. Send back all south africans on all the four south african airways flights to Zambia.

    • Hmmm. It’s only after reading the Nigeria story that I finally  decided to find out what yellow fever actually is. Anso when you deport people aren’t you supposed to take them RIGHT back to their country as opposed to dumping them in Zimbabwe. Ifya bupuba.

  5. STOP BLAMING SOUTH AFRICANS. It is YOU Zambians who love yourselves. South Africans love themselves and want to take care of themselves. Who stopped you from taking care of yourselves?? The problem is that instead of looking after national interests, you are busy politicking and stealing and practising tribalism – very primitive! Other countries are moving forward. Get your act together. Why did the 87 Zambians got to the border when they knew they had old version of yellow fever books??? Don’t blame South Africans for their high standards of governance. It just shows how careless you are. About the Nigerians: well, who wouldn’t want to deport a Nigerian? It is only that you Zambians are cowards. Look at the way Nigerians have brought crack cocaine drugs to Zambian streets. GET REAL!

    • Saimbwende, this is xenophobia of the highest order that you are exhibiting. You are basically no better than amasasa

    • There is no Nigerians selling drugs input streets for your own information.and it’s not like we don’t take care of ourselves it’s just that we are friendly enough to respect all people not matter where’d they come from…unlike *****s like like you who discriminate because you think you are better than than others…..

    • for your information there are no Nigerians selling drug in our streets….its not that we do not care about our own people its just that we respect people enough to let them in our country…unlike you discriminating *****s!!!

  6. Inferiority complex, that is the problem. They cant stand up for their own. There is no diplomacy at that Office, every Zambia complains who has been there.

  7. SOUTH AFRICA CARES FOR ITS PIPO & ARE JUST TRYING TO PREVENT YELLOW FEVER WHICH YOUR GOVT HAS FAILED TO PREVENT ATTACKING ITS OWN CITIZENS. THOSE FAKE YELLOW FEVER VACCINES ARE BOUGHT FROM INTERCITY BUS TERMINUS & RSA HAS FOUND OUT. LETS BE OBJECTIVE ABOUT MATTERS OF LIFE & DEATH. ZAMBIA IS A FAILED STATE JUST LIKE ZIM & SOMALIA.

    • U started very well but u just had 2 mess it up in the end.. U lost the objectivity n jus had 2 bring in Bob n Somali.. Failed states!! Hmmm..

    • You are probably too young to know about Zambia and South Africa, so that your inexperience sticks out like a sore thumb.

    • Marrie-Annie, IF Zambia is a failed sate. What is Shoprite, Stanbic, FNB, Pic n Pay and many south Africans doing in Zambia? Are these companies present in Somalia? You are very Ignorant..I cant wait for Nigeria to surpass your GDP?

    • MARIE-A… YOU ARE USELESS. YOU ARE BEYOND HELP. WHY IS IT THAT SOUTH AFRICANS FEEL LIKE THEY ARE NOT IN AFRICA? BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS ARE THE WORST ACTUALLY (THIS IS WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED). FOR ONCE VIVA NIGERIANS. I WISH ZAMBIANS WOULD HAVE THE GUTS AT LEAST TO GIVE THEM A HARD TIME ESP AT IMMIGRATION. A TIT FOR TAT SCENARIO

    • Zambia has no Yellow fever. Zambia survived the 2008 world because of Mwanawasa’s prudent economic policies; which the evil MMD government under Banda implemented. God has our country in his hands, thank you Jesus. Zambia made South Africa, our minerals fueled Nyasaland South Africa and Nyasa land. Should I continue.

    • Ba Marie-Anne with your pea sized, Zambia is a failed state? damn you ratsass we are NOT. Take those words back, you forget so easily just a few years ago you were being smoked out by boers. ATASE!!

  8. Yes the Zambian embassies are just something else. A non-Zambian is more welcome in those embassies than a Zambian. I actually feel more welcome at the S.A police station than at the Zambian embassy

  9. If the Zambian government reacted to the first time South Africa started deporting Zambians the Nigerian issue could not have happened. Zambians do not support each other. I used to work in outpatients department where yellow fever vaccinations were done. The shade of the yellow colour of the book depended where the books were manufactured from. Therefore to allege that the certificate is fake cos of the colour is not realistic. It must be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.CONGRATULATIONS NIGERIAN AUTHORITIES.SHAME WEAK ZAMBIA

    • True. My Yellow Fever Card is white. While it is true that some of the cards have fake vaccination stamps as they are just bought from inter city bus terminus ( I know a friend who bought one when we were going to DRC), the colour of the book should not be an issue. It is the authenticity of the vaccination that should be the subject matter. The bottom line here as well is that there is no yellow fever in Zambia, so why should we be subjected to these vaccinations????

  10. Let’s admit that there are many fake Health providers that have invaded Lusaka’s Inter-City Bus Stop and other sites on the Copperbelt to earn easy money by issuing Vaccination Certificate to unsusspecting travellers bound for South Africa and Tanzania. Health Inspectors must be dispatched to control this scurge. Do not heap the blame on the Zambian Embassies but rather clean up the mess and arrest the culprits locally and ensure the availability of genuine Yellow Fever Vaccinations countrywide.

    • WHO HAS EVER SUFFERED FROM YELLOW FEVER AND WHY IS IT THE YOU MUST HAVE A CARD WHEN HEADING TO RSA AND NOWHERE ELSE?

  11. Infact of all zambian embassies in the world the South African embassy is the worst as far as supporting their nationals is concerned.Even when we were changing passports afew years ago the UK ,Botswana ,Tanzania etc organised for the zambians to comlile the forms etc form these countries through their embassies but our embassy in South am told couldn’t do it cos they lose documents and are not trusted at all.Ask any Zambian living in South Africa.

  12. I agree with no. 5. So if you are a south african living/visiting in Zambia do they also need to get a yellow fever certificate from zed, or does the virus say, “Oh look he is south african, no need to infect him?”

  13. zambian embassies they exist on paper.the guys at these embassies dont know their duties and theyneed to go back to school and study diplomatic studies. shame. the same thing with the embassy here in the usa.

  14. This Zambian embassy opens at 9 am and closes at 11:30 am everyday .This is bullllllllllllllllshtttt .They charge you twice the cost of the passport application fee yet they give you a receipt indicating half the amount. They will tell you the other half is a penaulty for the lost passport,Blllllllllllsht ,so were is the proof that i was charged. The Govt must take action…

  15. Too much politicking in Zambia at the expense of getting work done & to constantly improving the way we do things. Other countries have travel advisory information readily available especially at point of departure & with the carriers. Airlines will not board you if you don’t fulfill entry equirements of the country you want to travel to – because they will be obliged to bring you back for free. How can a bus dump its passengers in the bush, let alone in another country? SADC is also toothless cos of too much politicking even when apartheid has been gone for such a long time, they’ve failed to refocus. In ECOWAS, things like travel within member countries has been simplified long ago & improve each year.

  16. Its a good lesson for u jerks who have failed in Zambia and think u gona make it down SA….Get back to back to yo country and develop yo country….Stop Mourning u fool….

  17. That is nothing! I was stopped from leaving RSA on a british airways plane in december 2011 from O.R.Tambo airport because I did not have a yellow fever book. So I had to get the jab at the airport, my flight was rescheduled for two days later. They said they can not allow me to go into a yellow fever zone without vaccination. I even missed a very important funtion.

  18. What is Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affiars saying about all this and the Yellow Fever thing?

    Also the Minister of Health.

  19. Just to set the record straight. First of all I wonder why LT published such a story that is so devoid of specifics, but fraught with generalities. Such are stories that paint everything, including the great work we do here with the same brush.

Ok lets see if I can even address any of your unaddressable issues. You get denied entry at the SA border, and technically you are in Zim and you expect us in Pretoria to guess that you have been stranded there and fly in from nowhere and sort your issues. Really? Did you make the call to the embassy, or did you even alert the embassy in Harare that you r stranded?

About the visit to the embassy , we are machines here. We are people with names. Who did you speak to who ignored you and on what date. If you need help be specific.

  20. People at the embassy have names and names tags, and even names of some of their door and if there was anybody that treated you like not their own , then name them since it sounds like it is a regular occurrence since you have used the word whenever.

Even just a simple Njanja, Bemba or whatever greeting will solicit a smile and nobody has ever refused to give you their name if you asked them. Le’s get serious with issues if you want us to build a better Zambia.

This embassy has helped thousands of people and that needs to be recognized than paint them with a same brush of some irresponsible write who can’t even put any specifics on the table.

  21. Imagine they turn yu back at the SA or Zimbabwean border ater you have travelled more than half the journey? The stupid Zambian Embassy in pretoria should have intervened in any case Zambia is not even in the yellow fever region. Nigeria is. See the map. What the hell are the embassies for?

  22. How can you expect any help when you have the cadres running the emabasy. Joe Kaunda is the deputy High Commissioner remember. This is the guy who f… Fred Mmembe’s young sister and couldn’t be fired because he’s got so much on Fred. As a former employee of the Post and former school mate at Mporokoso Sec School, I know this chap very well and I almost fainted when I heard he’s running our embassy in SA.

  23. south africans are xenophobic….elo balitumpa bafika…when boers mistreat them we wont help them coz they are ungrateful stupid *****s…chech the qualifications for the pipo at zambian embassy in s.a. man of action help us

    • I agree with you 100%, If the boers attack, no south african to enter our country, and we should nerver come to their aid….. especially the Zulus

  24. You have the likes of Joe Kaunda as deputy High Commissioner and you expect anything tangible to happen? You must be joking. Being a Friday right now, he’s driven to Joburg to drink at Kilimanjaro.

  25. thats the problem of sending useless cadres..they should have protested or deport all the South Africans in Zambia..ala!!

  26. its very SAD, i just tried to dial A zambian embassy in RSA 012 3261854, its so un professional it rings and after sometime you get recorded voice which when you listen to it you run mad. I wonder why our zambian Govt does not represent its citizens anywhere you go its the same, in the southern region there is so much tarif and so high yet we have govt represetation without a voice.

    • Telephone call? Not even the UK based Zambian High Commission answers phone calls efficiently. You have to try for a long time, and if you are lucky you get someone on a mobile number kwati fye nikuZambia.

  27. Zambian Embassy: Try to ring the Zambian embassy in the UK and see if you will be answered. It is practically impossible. One wonders if at all their phones work. Very uneffective and useless. Whom do they serve if they can not serve their own people. I understand this is the same in all embassies or is it that their phone lines are cut because they do not pay their phone bills.

  28. actually SA has high prevalence of HIV/AIDS infections pliz certify them as they dock in zed and they shud av Zambian branded condoms if not deportation! they are increasing on the number of HIV infections in ZED

  29. Filling up our embassies throughout with party cadres who are alien to modern politics are a disservice to our country. This shows how Nigerians have always been infront world politics. To appreciate fully the Nigenian foreign ministry’s reaction, one has to read about their reaction when they expelled their nationals. Yes we might have paid the bigger price to make SA to be what it is to day but Nigeria felt the agnony of a black SA’s and decided to fight by taxing every Nigerian to pay R1 towards the liberation of SA.

  30. Iwe ka Marie-Anne @9, Zambia is not a failed state and cannot be compared, with all due respect, to war torn Somalia. Can we we be sincere and objective in our comments.

  31. I have been to several countries around the world, countries that have a Zambian embassy. Never have I needed any service from the embassy. I don’t even know what services they provide! SA, Angola, Ghana, Brussels, New York, Japan …
What does the Zambian foreign mission do anyway, do they have a mission?

  32. Guys looking at all the comments ,it show this matter has an effect on the Zambians who happen to be the reason why we have an “Embassy” in RSA. What does the Government say about this if at all it bothers them- I know these guys are looking at all these comments and they know whats happening. Wake up Government and fix these things once and for all ,these government official forget that one day they could be fired and have their diplomatic passport revoked, thereby finding themselves on a CR Bus and deported for the same issue. Bravo Nigeria

  33. #22 &23
I’ve lived in London for nearly 20 years and must say the attitude of the staff at 2 Palace Gate, Zambia High Commission in the 90s was unfriendly but in recent years I think things have improved. Zambian embassies still have a long way to go to reach the English and American standards in caring for their nationals anywhere in the world. On the other hand it is not wise for anyone to travel to other countries without the necessary documents and expect to be treated leniently and when you are refused entry you moan and moan.

  34. I though yellow ferever does not exist anymore. It seems xonophobia is deep rooted in south africa.I have never heard south africa asking people from Botswana for yellow books. They dont even ask their own citizens whoa re returning to RSA from Zambia or anywhre else.

Surely the Zambian government should tell the South African governement to stop harassing Zambian travellers or Zambia must also start asking South African for yellow books. If we are not careful they will start asking Zambians for vacination certificates for malaria!!

  35. The problem of Yellow Fever books is just one of the many problems Zambian face in SA. The other is the downgrading of the Zambian Grade 12 certificate by the SAQA to Grade 11 so that most Universities do not accept Zambian students. The solution lies in employing Zambians who are well versed with the SA systems at the Embassy who can represent Zambia in South Africa from an informed point of view. What the ANC did was to learn all the corners of Zambia and they are capable of pointing out Yellowbooks bought at Kamwala bus stop because they have most probably employed a Zambian to do so. For as long as the PF government fails to read the African game well by continuing to send unknowledgeable diplomats in the foreign service the problem will continue and we should not complain.

  36. It is true the Zambia embassy in South Africa does not help Zambians except when you are lokking for a travel document after losing your passport.Zambians have been killed in RSA and the embassy does not help at all unless one is a government official.Does the embasyy exist only for peole who are officially in RSA?What about Zambian travellers and those who are genuinely working in RSA and investing in Zambia? The embassy does not make efforts to know where Zambians are until somebody has a problem.Normally the embassy knows about some one when that person has a problem and needs help.If its is for politicians only then it has no use for Zambans living in RSA

  37. No 22, this yellow fever issue has been brought to the embassy so many times at one point an embassy official even made a statement so dont be a smart fimo fimo.
No 7 saimbwende, a shot of yellow fever is valid for 10 years. so changing from new to old book does not justify why someone should be re vaccinated before the 10 years is over.

  38. #38 YOU ARE VERY RIGHT.SOUTH AFRICA HAS DEGRADED OUR GRADE TWELVE CERTIFICATE TO GRADE 11.!!! THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL BECAUSE THOSE ZAMBIANS THAT HAVE MANAGED TO BE ENROLLED IN SOUTH AFRICA UNIVERSITIES END UP THE BEST STUDENTS AT THESE UNIVERSITIES.WHY HAVE WE ALLOWED OUR EDUCATION TO BE DOWN GRADED WHEN OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM IS ONE OF THE BEST IN SOUTHER AFRICA?,WE ARE ONLY EQUALED TO ZIMBABWE FOR OBVIOUS REASONS!!BRITISH SYSTEM SOUTH AFRICAN IS STILL TRYING TO FIND A WORKING SYSTEM FOR THEIR MATRIC MOST WHOM CANT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH!!!

    • My dear you are right, 95% of South Africans dont even know how to speak English, right now am working on a part time job in an internet cafe since am a qualififed secretary, right here in South Africa trying to get a better job, but whenever I type Curriculum Vitaes they indicate that they passed in English, try talking to them they are blank!!!!! even when i type documents, i just have to correct everything. When children are born, they speak to them the local languages, they hate English, not knowlng that it can take them far, even Students and Pupils who are still at school do not know English, they can’t even greet you. Its sad.

  39. Do we have a Government in place if matters that affect peolple are not attended to which they elected this Government in power for, i have never seem such cowadice in my life’s time, Levi would have said something about this, what is wrong with these people, who is South Afica to us that our people have to treated this way, can this Government ask every South African entering this country to obtain a Yellow Fever certificate before coming into Zambia, it seems we a infested with this after all and any one without it should be sent packing on the next Plane or Bus from which ever point they come in from, thuis way too much with these people, we cannot take their foolishness and stupidity anymore, watch out South Africa, you will get what you want pretty soon, never regret

  40. I did not know that all our embassies are like that.Imbona kwati Zambian embassy in Moscow emwafula ama compund *****s.These people need some sought of training balatusebanya bad!

  41. I will never phone or go to the Zambian embassy in South Africa. I have had enough. I would rather travel to Zambia for whatever I need than do it through the embassy. MMD Chief Bootlicker, if you see the number of people complaining about the poor service at the embassy, that should ring a bell and help you put your house in order if at all you are working there. There are many dissappointing instances I have personally gone through at the embassy ‘nokulanda konaula’. Talk about the change of passports from 2007 someone mentioned, the charges without receipts. I paid for a letter of authenticity and never got the letter after several phone calls and emails that remain as proof of deservice at the embassy. It’s really shameful.

  42. Nubian Princess, there cud never be a better summary!! Am even perplexed pipo still complaign. Just make sure all is okey before departure, otherwise counting on zed embassy is like counting on unhatched chickens.

  43. Marrie-Annie, IF Zambia is a failed sate. What is Shoprite, Stanbic, FNB, Pic n Pay and many south Africans doing in Zambia? Are these companies present in Somalia? You are very Ignorant..I cant wait for Nigeria to surpass your GDP? Any internet attracts or sorts of characters

  44. What is the fuss about the yello fever books now? When our Chipolopolo boys and the SA freedom fighters were matching into SA, were they producing yellow fever books before they planted land mines?

  45. what do expect, ambassadors are apponted on political lines. And south africans are big fooool. zambia kept their president now during their struggle for freedom and alot more. when did they hear that in zambia there is yellow fever? let us chase them from zambia because they are the ones who are goin to bring yellow fever. on these issues i dnt think that sata will do any thing all he wanted was to become president so that he can be part of the guys sleeping at embassy park.

  46. The Zambian High Commission in Pretoria should be closed. We can deal with S. African matters from Lusaka. Its just misusing taxpayers’ money.

  47. Have also seen a marked improvement here in London. Everyone I’ve dealt with is polite, helpful and professional. Some of the attitude of people visiting to get an issue resolved was disheartening especially when the problem was self inflicted then they want instant miracles :) Keep it up. It was awful even four years ago so whatever has brought the change is welcome. A woman who was rude and scowly then is very pleasant now… UK peeps will know the one :)

  48. The problem is our underdevelopment in Zambia make us only look to the south for goodies! When it comes to treating ourselves as a nation we are so disintergrated into tribal forbia that its each one for himself and God for us all!  Why always heading to South Africa for goodies when you can develop or make them in Zambia? The problem is we underrate our selves too much that we can’t even use our wealth to make proper hospitals to treat ourselves within Zambia. When is our dependancy syndrome on South Africa end? We produce copper, that copper never benefit us but other people enjoy our resources. The  Zambian Ambassador in SA makes it worse noting for not treating his own people well when they are facing deportation by the people we helped so much in their liberation struggles.

  49. I have been to the south african embassy and the security guy you will find their is south african who is full of crap. You are treated like shit but when a tourist (white man) they jump and assist him and you left their or sent back. Its bull crap hope the PF will sort this mess which stinks.

  50. ZAMBIAN EMBASSIES ALL FOREIGN COUNTRIES ARE USELESS, IT IS REALLY SAD THAT THEY THINK THEY ARE DOING A FAVOR TO ZAMBIANS. WE SHOULD START BEATING THEM UP. LUBINDA BETTER SEND A SERIOUS MESSAGE TO ALL THE FO.OLS CALLED AMBASSADORS. THEY SHOULD TREAT ZAMBIANS WITH RESPECT. IF THEY CAN NOT DO THE JOB?? LET OTHER ZAMBIANS WITH THE HEAT TO SERVE ZAMBIANS TAKE OVER.
SOUTH AFRICAN?? SHOULD HAVE RESPECT FOR ZAMBIA. THEIR STU.P.ID ANC HEADQUATERS USED TO BE IN LUSAKA. NOMBA TWABIPA?? SEND BACK ALL SOUTH AFRICANS INCLUDING THEIR COMPANIES. THEY ARE A VERY UNTHANKFUL COUNTRY.

  51. We once went to Mozambique for a seminar and the embassy there was notified but to our surprise, the embassy never made an effort to even call or even maybe check on us but we were entertained and looked after by the Malawian diplomats who were looking after their citizenry. It was shocking that the Malawian diplomats cared enough for their people whereas ours did nothing. I have been in many countries and I was told by someone that I should always report at a Zambian embassy (if there’s 1) once I land in a foreign land. I used to but nothing ever happened as opposed to how the others treat their own. So I have stopped.
As for this RSA stuff, please King Cobra unleash your venom especially that they seized your millions. Time to get some revenge.

  52. Its high time you knew that no one cares about zambians. No 7 is spot on. If we got our act together we would be respected by now

  53. tHE ZAMBIAN EMBASSY IN SOUTH AFRICA IS TERRIBLY RUN. I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE NEW STAFF THERE, BUT THE PREVIOUS ONES WHERE A NIGHTMARE. yOU WOULD WISH YOU NEVER BELONGED TO ZAMBIA. i THINK WE SHOULD BE WHISTLEBLOWING AGAINST THESE EMBASSY STAFF BACK HOME SO THEY KNOW WHY THEY ARE SENT THERE: TO SERVE THE INTERST OF ZAMBIA.

  54. Zambia has no Yellow fever. During Apathied we educate for FREE our south African brothers and sisters. Protected all your freedom fighters and paid for every Southern African liberation struggle; NOW TRY and CALL US a failed state. I come against that curse you just pronounced in Jesus name.

  55. Zambian maqwereqwere just stay put in your country. Stop crying over visiting other peoples homes. Just get your yellow fever jab or else stick where you are! Learn to respect entry requirements of whatever country you are visiting. If its okay for your Zambia to let in people without the required vaccinations or for visitors to bring into your country alien plants or animals; please stop assuming that every country is like that…..because that is just crazy!

  56. @ # 38 Gomes Kaloko: THE CHILD WHO HAS NEVER TRAVELLED THINKS HIS MOTHER IS THE BEST COOK. KOLWESTAN IS NOT FAR FROM SOMALIA. NO WATER SYSTEM: PIPO DIG BOREHOLES NEXT TO THEIR SEPTIC TANKS & ARE SIPPING THEIR OWN SH*T, A FAILED HEALTH SYSTEM, NO EMERGENCY SYSTEM (FIRE DEPT RUNS OUT OF WATER EVERYTIME, CANT DIAL 911), NO DECENT SHELTER (87% LIVE IN SHANTIES & SQUALLOR). PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS A JOKE.

  57. Here are some ideas on how the Embassy in Pretoria under the new High Commissioner can improve:(1) Employ a Zambian Front Officer, not the SA thug who is there. The thug can be limited to opening the gate only (2) Move to normalise bilateral relations under SADC protocols with regard to study permits, work permits, visa requirements (There are many SAs now working in Zambia and the Yellow Fever nonsense is included) on a reciprocal basis (3) Establish an Education Attache portfolio (at present there is none) to look into regularising education qualifications between SA and Zambia (4) Establish protocols for medical knowledge transfer between SA and Zambia (This will curtail the huge medical expenses incurred by Ministers who are treated in SA by sometimes Zambian doctors poached by SA).

  58. @62 LESEDI: You are a fo.ol what the hell do you think South Africa is?? If it was not for support from Zambia by hosting your freedom fighter?? Do you think you would have managed your freedom? Don’t be so st.upid as there is no yellow fever in Zambia.
Zambians we should also ask for criminal record clearance for South Africans as they would bring theft  & Criminal habits in to Zambia.

  59. Indeed Zambian embassy is doing nothing to help it’s citizen, they are well aware that,Zambia does not fall under a yellow fever category according to UN,and i have proof of it,why can’t Zambia and South Africa look into this nonsense, and let things settle down in an amicable manner,Zambian embassy in South Africa has become something else to it’s own Citizen,we are crying for help, someone should take stoke, when Zambians cry then we know what we are saying, kindly look after our plight, even when driving,we are requested to have a traffic register, which is not bad in it’s sense for records sake in case of accidents, traffic fine, but my cry is that, you may have a Zambian Drivers license and you are not allowed to drive unless you get a traffic register, but to get it is very cumbersome.

  60. #70: I wouldnt blame Lesedi; Kaunda made a mistake. He did all the work on “humanitarian grounds”; he should have gotten an agreement that Zambia would be paid back the loses as and when they got independence. So history cannot be changed.
Being objective about the issue of immigration is a very noble thing. Personally, I have never seen an immigrant who has been respected; never. It is for this reason that no matter how good a situation where you are, develop Zambia, send things back home. Economic power is the real power, and thats why you see SA behaving that way. Poverty never gained anyone any respect. Worse, Zambian poverty is not because of lack of resources, its becuse of being unresourceful!!

  61. I did not finish,so if you don’t have a permanent resident as a visitor you can’t drive,it becomes a crime, you may have a South African ID as a Zambian and being a Zambian and have had Zambian drivers license, you are still required to get a South African drivers License which is very difficult to get, unless you are corrupt, now for us who are a law abiding,we suffer as a consequence.there are so many requirement as if they South African government just doesn’t foreigners to drive on their roads, and i am very much interested if this law applies to the Zambian Embassy staff especially the Zambian Ambassador driver, since he is also a Zambian,

  62. Please, i appeal to our Zambian president to appoint competent people at the Zambian Embassy, especially the women at the embassy, they are very rude to us, as if we are foreigners to them,it’s like they staff at the embassy don’t understand their role.please change them all before you see Zambian protesting because of these people at our Zambian Embassy,or you simply close it if it cannot serve it’s purpose.

  63. Lol, now you are all pontaling. I told you before, let the same rules/laws apply to ALL foreigners entering Zambian. CHAPWA!

  64. I too would not blame or blast Lisedi. I blame or blast our politicians or the so called embassy staff in SA. To be honest, we are a faile state whether we like it or not. It is better to admit that we have failed so that we work on our resurrection. Our education has failed with many Unza and CBU closures. How can other countries respect us? Our health system has failed with politicians rushing to Mill Park or morningside clinics each year. How can SA respect us? We have allowed Shoprite to be everywhere in Zambia with no local big super market? How can SA respect us? We have no national airline. How can SA respect us? To continue:

    • You seam to be more concerned with gaining respect from SA; what about respect from yourself? and is SA the standard of respect you so crave for? CBU closed because a roof was blown off by windy rains; i guess brought about buy PF? MMD ruled for 20 years and never built a thing; PF has only been in power for 6months, and are still cleaning up things; they anunced a 19.8bln Kwacha investment in university infrastructure; tendering alone might take 1 year. But hey, a pilot cannot teach a person how to fly in a single day. You are entitled to your opinion; come back to earth though.

  65. Our councils have failed to function with street vending around because of presidential directive. How can SA respect us. GRZ has failed us for for not demanding that South Africans coming into Zambia or going out of Zambia should have yellow fever certificates. We call it receprical. How can SA respect us when our govt thinks that SA is too powerful to be told off by Zambia that depends on SA. Yet SA depends on Zambia on a lot things. How can SA respect us? I leave you to answer the question.

  66. @ # 50 AC Analyst: ZAMBIA IS LIKE SOMALIA. SHOPRITE IS FULL OF SOUTH AFRICAN GOODS, THATS ENOUGH TO SHOW THAT ZAMBIA IS A FAILED STATE. STOP SENDING YOUR SICK POLITICIANS TO OUR MILPARK & MORNINGSIDE HOSPITAL & TELL THEM TO IMPROVE YOUR OWN FAILED HEALTH SYSTEM. ALSO REMIND THEM TO HAVE A COUNTRYWIDE YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION DRIVE. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE FROM OUTSIDE TO TELL U THAT U HAVE YELLOW FEVER? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOUR RELATIVES FROM THE VILLAGE KEEP VISITING WITH SCABIES HENCE RISKING INFECTING YOUR KIDS. UNLESS U DONT LOVE YOUR KIDS, U STOP THEM AT THE GATE & CHECK THAT THEY R NOT INFECTED.

  67. South Africans must be treated like the way Nigerians treat them..If they screw up ..f them up…By the way two years ago SA deposited Nigerians accusing them of being in the country illegally, Nigeria went to MTN Nigeria and depoted all South Africans national working in Nigeria. It is about Zambia started doing the same …I know Sata wont take this crap…
AS for stupid pipo at the Zambian embassy in SA, this group has overstayed and must be recalled ..

  68. The Yellow Fever certificate issue is very upsetting! I pray the Zambian Goverment will do something about it. I salute the Nigerian Government!!!

    • Amen!!! I agree, we are in trouble here, and the Government is quite, Nigerian government is swift, I like that. Wake up Zambian government, its time.

  69. Im happy to see complaints about the Zambian Embassy in South Africa, the Zambian Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil is being run by one old-man f…. young lady who went to the extending of getting the Embassy name blacklisted as bad payer after failing to pay her personal bill. And yet she scores all the best credentials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the most competent diplomat. She spearheaded  the Embassy team including the Ambassador and his wife to buy tshirts for the last election campaign of Rupiah Banda and yet she is still the most important Zambian to the extend that her mother is the one who decides on the use of the Embassy representational mercedes benz. ZAMBIA pls!!! when is bad going to be bad??????

  70. While most of the complaints above may be true, it is also good to look on the other side and call a spade a spade. I love my country Zambia very much but there is much that needs to be done. There is very little to be proud of about our country. I work in one of the countries in North Africa that has known no peace for quite a long time but when you look around at the development that is going around here, you cannot compare it with what is going on in Zambia. I saw a picture about a dorm at UNZA on line; EVEN SOME TOILET IN SOME HOMES ARE VERY HEALTHY TO LIVE IN. What is happening. Check out the healthy system in Zambia. Too much talk and politicking but nothing is done. BE REALISTIC

  71. Am even ashamed to be Zambian not because of the countries status, am ashamed simply because our people in govt offices have stinking manners. We are treated a little less like dogs when we visit these countries, and yet when these bastards come to our countries they are treated like kings and queens.

I wonder why you continue to neglect your very own, many have died in diaspora. But our govt is quiet about all that happens. When will Zambia have a real leader with the true spirit of a parent mother/father? I don’t like this shit. And the embassy in South Africa is the worst among other countries I have visited. Please, let us do something about the status of Zambian living in diaspora. We have lost our dignity.

  72. Very right.PF Government should done something about the Zambian Commission in South Africa. It is one place you would not want to go, you always find the most uncilivised yellow women who have no regard and respect for fellow Zambians. Those yellow urgly women should be taken back to Zambia were they trully below.

  73. FIX YOUR COUNTRY BEFORE ATTACKING OTHER COUNTRIES. IF YOU CAN PACK YOUR FOREIGN MISSIONS WITH RECEPTIONISTS, COUSINS, AS LONG THEY SPEAK BEMBA, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? FIX YOUR COUNTRY FIRST … LOOK AT UNZA DO EXPECT ANYONE TO RESPECT A DEGREE FROM SUCH A UNIVERSITY, ZAMBIA IS THE ONLY FAILED STATE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN WAR TORN ITS A FACT AND YES I AM ZAMBIAN, I BLEED WITH ALL THE DECISIONS ZAMBIANS TAKE BACK HOME. SATA FOR PRESIDENT AND EXPECT OTHER NATIONS TO TAKE YOU SERIOUS … C’MON!
