With only a few days before the March 12th youth day celebrations opposition Movement for Multi party Democracy-MMD youths in Lusaka Province have vowed not to take part in this year’s event citing unfair treatment.
Zambian youths will on March 12th 2012 celebrate their day and various activities are put in place. The day brings together youths from various sectors of society and political parties.
The MMD youths say they have suffered persecution at the hands of ruling Patriotic Front-PF youths.
MMD Lusaka Province youth Chairperson Watson Mtonga claims that former ruling party youths’ are not protected hence the decision to shun the event.
He said that some MMD youths have even shunned their homes due to the continuous persecution and harassment from the PF and police.
Mr. Mtonga added that PF cadres are likely to attack MMD Youths on the material day.
Meanwhile, MMD has expressed concern over the increasing number of industrial unrest in the country. MMD Spokesperson Dora Siliya says the continued trend of industrial unrest in the country is worrying.
Ms. Siliya says government needs to quickly come up with a solution to stop the trend. The MMD Spokesperson has called for the need to ensure that there is stability among the country’s workforce if the economy is to record some growth.
Ms. Siliya on the other hand advised government to honour its campaign promises of creating more jobs for the youths.
And Ms Siliya has revealed that preparations for the MMD upcoming party convention are progressing well. She said the party convention will usher new leaders into office.
MUVITV
Who cares whether MMD youths attend celebrations or not for some of us any mention of this party is nauseating, to hell with them! the thieves! I guess there is no attraction of brown envelopes anymore!
Whose the bitter one?
they jast dont have funds for them to participate. They used to bennefit alot at times like these. But now no money to be paid to the hungry cadres . They complain of persecution? They were the biggest bullys when they were in power. They miss that and cant stomach the idea that their friends are now incharge.
Only in Zambia!
Taking into account the rate at which the PF and Police have been harassing MMD leaders, and MMD youths in particular, it is wise for MMD Youths to stay away from the planned Youth Day activities. In fact the PF system has organised armed Police Units to disturb peace in Southern Province. Indeed the PF youths are itching to cause harm on opposition youths. THIS IS TIME FOR PF YOUTHS TO CELEBRATE PF ACHIEVEMENTS TO CREATE MORE JOBS AND PLACE MORE MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS. It will be wise for MMD and UPND youths to stay at home on 12th March.
Only yesterday the MMD youths were making the PF youths lives unbearable. Now its their turn and they cry the loudest. We must be careful with these precedents that we set for ourselves, the bible say,”Do unto others as you would want them do unto you”. The PF must shame the MMD youths by allowing them to enjoy their democratic right of celebrating their youth day without hindrance or indeed provocation. The same goes for our leaders, let us look beyond what we can see and feel and take the concerns of others into consideration, 5 years is too short as Miss Siliya can attest.
I think its better they stay away if they think its unsafe, otherwise the celebrations wil go on with whoever is going to attend it dosent make any deference, no one 2 buy them utujilijili.
I think its better they stay away if they think its unsafe, otherwise the celebrations wil go on with whoever is going to attend it dosent make any deference, no one 2 buy them utujilijili.lets hop they wil stay home to avoid the confusion they are talking about.
I urge opposition youths to attend these celebrations. No sane PF politician let alone youth leader can incite their youths to descend upon innocent opposition youths. The current situation is so volatile that one match strike from a misguided PF member, this country will be on fire. I don’t think this is what PF wants.
It is a wise decision because there is tension and it has further been escaleted by the threat to the union by Mr.President.He should not forget that without a motivated civil service, his fight on corruction will be a pipe dream.
Non sense
MMD youths are being insighted by their leaders to shun the youth celebrations because of frustration Yes PF has to honour its political promise, but people please, even rome was not built in a day. The MMD youths should understand that the previous regime plundered this economy so its so unrealistic of them to think jobs will be created in the twinkling of an eye.
I have cancelled all youth day cerebrations with immediate effect.
Who ever imagined that mmd would cry faul one day and are these not the same youths who thought they were untouchable?
Yes it would do them good to stay home bcoz they would just go there to cause confusion so that its brought down to the Pf youths.
Who will care weather the dead mmd and it’s stupid youth group attend or not…we are tried of mmd…go to hell
The “bicycle cases” against MMD officials are almost becoming comical. Surely there must be more serious “crimes” which were committed to occupy our investigating wings than bicycles. No wonder some people are beginning to feel this is mere harassment.
Let them boycott. UNIP in 1996 boycotted election but nothing happens. There are many Youths who are going to participate. Madam bokoshi just shut up. Your time is over you enjoyed already.
this is a blow..its simply shows what kind of govt we have in place..dictatorial but they should count their time in state house..!
Uli tole sana.
A taste of their own medicine. Are these not the same chaps who were going around dis-rupting PF meetings before the elections? Are these not the same ones who were beating up and throwing stones at PF youth and to press personnel? And Dora, please shut your hole. The industrial unrest is because your MMD government did not address labour issues. You allowed the Chinese to treat us any way they liked. You did not even have minimum wage, not even a discussion about it. What do you want PF to do? Send police and quell the demos like you would do? Fusek. We will use the negotiation approach so that we come up with a lasting solution. Go and train your muscles so that you can sleep without peeing on the bed.
Where is William Banda?he used to enjoy harrasing others now let him parade his powers
It is all good talk against MMD to hell with them. In fact they should boycott and disband themselves to shit. PF youths enjoy yourselves while the Party lasts in power and have a blessed youth day.
MMD YOUTHS WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR BOYCOTT? YOU ARE A WASTE OF SPACE WITH YOUR SENIOR MMDS. GO AND ROT IN HELL YOU ARE A FINISHED PARTY OF THIEVES.VIVA PF
HAHAHAHAHAHA WHO CARES IF YOU DON’T ATTEND? WHATEVER TRICKS YOU USE, YOUR LEADERS WILL BE PROSECUTED. YOU THINK ZAMBIANS ARE FOOLISH TO BELIEVE YOUR CHEAP COMPLAINTS? ZAMBIANS WILL NEVER SLEEP UNTIL HOSE WHO STOLE FROM THEM ARE JAILED. WE ARE GLAD YOU WON’T PARTICIPATE BECAUSE YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE NATION AND YOU DESERVE TO BE BANNED FROM THE POLITICS OF ZAMBIA. MMD IS FULL OF THIEVES AND YOU STINK!
!ts ok afteall its the same youths that booted you out imwe ba chimbwi. Moreover, its the officials who will boycott as the youths will just clad PF regalia and the party continues. Unya oilo !
they learnt from the best
The fact is MMD is bankrupt. The party has no money to pay you for the invent.Dont blame the innocent PF Youths please. In any case, have you forgotten how you used to attack PF youths? I am not supporting hooliganism but the bible says, do unto others………Â
MMD Youths must stay away from the streets. Let the PF youths parade to express gratitude for PF’s inability to offer them jobs and empy money in their pockets. The PF youths are not civilised enough to appreciate the tenets of democracy, judging from packages of insults flashed on this website.
When MMD was in power PF youths were never persecuted. Now with this ugly snake at state house, everyone is looking on his shoulder. This ugly snake is too much for others to stand.
Any away what can any civillised and right thinking youth celebrate for ever since the pabwato govt came to power? Street vending maybe?
Youth Day celebration should be above parties & politics, clearly shows how these MMD Youth have been brainwashed. Make your own minds MMD youth not those corrupt leaders you have. They will make you miss-out on alot. Never read or heard of an MMD youth who has been harassed. Cheap Politics DORA & TEAM to bring confusion among our Youth??Â
MMD WOMEN PARTICIPATED DURING WOMENS DAY,MMD SITS IN PARLIAMENT AT EVERY SESSION,WHO WILL CARE IF THESE DIMWIT MMD YOUTHS BOYCOTT YOUTH DAY,INFACT IT WILL BE GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH.STAY AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK Â SUCKERS.
IS MMD still existing?
those not participating mmd upnd,so wat i mean marching & speeches they can stay home its their rite.as for youth employment u need a radical shift in govt policy for armchair critics who believe that jobs wl come in 6months-go & sleep.#14 elaborate 4me smart dora alasunda pa bed…?
What is there to be celebrated about by a Zambian youth? Unemployment or street vending and maybe Ban Ki Moon’s visit?
Imwe maguys pf and mmd are the same parties
Democracy should be about principles and values we believe in and not about which camp one belongs to. Youth unemployment will affect all the youths whether they support PF or MMD,therefore it’s testing times like these that the youths should organise themselves regardless of political affiliation and face the law makers head on. Politics in major events and celebrations is seriously eroding our young democracy.
# 24 KWEKWE. Ironically you ‘ve always displayed intellectually emanciated opinion over national issues. Youth Day cerebration is a national event involving all youths in the nation organised by govt and in this case PF govt. Its not UPND youths, PF, MMD or New Generation party youths who are expected to finance this activity. Its the govt of the day to organise the activities of this event regardless of party affiliations. What is noted with concerns being expressed in other parts of the country by youths should be addressed by the govt. Myopic reaction and partisanship approach to this event further defines what youths complain as legitimate and the onus lies squarely with PF govt as never in the last govts youths have shunned this event.
Iwe @14 a crime is crime, you want people to commit “serious” crimes to be punished, for your own information in the Bible there is nothing like small or big sin. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA
Teach the MMD youth a lesson BURN THEM .. All of them ..
Or it could be that scripture is being fulfilled for the MMD youths ” … you shall reap what you sow…” GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.
MMD youths should attend. People are even saying that it is a taste of their own medicine, what crap is that. I mean HEMCS should make a difference. Please people don’t do a wrong that the other parties have committed and justify it by saying that they used to well.; like an eye for an eye! How many people will be left with eyes, just because it happened in the mmd govt does not make it any right. What would the PF lose if they made Zambia a better place?
No allowances, no youth day! Typical MMD, they expect to be bribed to attend any national day. They are not the only  youths in the country, let the thugs stay away we don’t need them.
bajama bamambala, no brown envelopes now, to hell with them, viva youthday guys, it is not a partisan youthday it is a youth day for a genuine youth in zambia. moreover even if they boycott what impact do they have. we are going ahead, weather there or not there.VIVA ZAMBIAN YOUTHS
#32 You are talking sence.
@35, Muna,
You should know by now that ‘political youths’ always want to be given money or beer each time they are representing the party in any activity. This is why I said MMD has no money to give them and it is true. The government will support them to buy uniforms for the event and transport, not any other payment. Thank you.
It is without doubt that violence has increased since PF started to gain ground and indeed this was epitomised with the PF lead violence during the 3 days following the 20th Sept elections. That was the first in Zambian history and the violence has continued without the PF leadership remaining mute. The PF bloggers seem to have raised their vuvuzela’s in comdemnation when it is the right thing to do for anyone who does not seek violence. It is obvious that PF want MMD and UPND out in numbers so they can engage in violence and obviously their leadership will blame the opposition. Thats what they do as they are already pointing fingers and accussing the opposition of promoting anarchy. They fail to realise that it is indeed PF that is creating anarchy in the country.
If PF was a violent party most of those MMD thugs we know would not have been walking the streets now, learn to appreciate.how easily we forget, not too long ago that UPND s Charles Kakoma was dragged naked and beaten during Solwezi by election by MMD thugs, the infamous Mapatizya formula by UPND against MMD,birds of the same feather are now flocking together, starngeÂ
Well done, good move by mms and upnd , it’s will not be normal for you guys to attend when your leaders are being tossed up and own, this actually surprises me a lot, pf have won, but still hey are not comfortable with other parties around them why is is that Satan can’t sleep without having fears of the an known, victimizing people for what
it is wrong to let a thief go free when he has stollen from you , you must take back what you stole no one is being persecuted, you must just be accountable and that is what zambians want from you
am from dk in chipata its full of pipo, i couldbt tell if they were pf only or all youths of chipata were there. i hope it was the same everywhere zambia is vast and it didnt mater if they are not in attendance. Viva zambia
I do not sympathise with MMD youths. They are being given the taste of their own medicine. They failed to cage their own William Banda and the the other MMD roughnecks.
