FAZ Confirms CAS Verdict

Share

Following the ruling by the International Court for Sports Arbitration (CAS) on the case involving former Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic, the Football Association of Zambia wishes to confirm that it has been served with the final verdict.

FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga says the appeal by FAZ of the verdict by the single judge has failed.

“We wish to confirm that we are in receipt of the verdict by the International Court for Sports Arbitration (CAS) which has upheld the decision by the single judge to award former coach Aljosa Asanovic for unlawful dismissal,” says Kamanga.

“The reason for the dismissal of our appeal have not yet been shared but will be availed in due course and will determine our next course of action.”

Kamanga adds: “In the meantime, FIFA will restrict the development funds FAZ is entitled to until the same is fully satisfied.”

FAZ appointed Asanovic on 18 January 2022, but the Croatian announced that he had unilaterally terminated his contract with Zambia on September 22, 2022.

Asanovic abandoned his post in the aftermath of Zambia, losing 1-0 at home to Mozambique to be dumped out of the African Nations Championship campaign.

  1. Be careful when you recruit coaches. There’s a group of white coaches that has for many years been traversing the African continent jumping from one national team to another. They take advantage of the FIFA rule that protects coaches. They perform badly, you fire them, they run to FIFA….

    • Kamanga is just a loser in all areas of football. Everything he touches turns to charcoal-no to a maggot. There has never been a FAZ chief who has lost so many games, court cases and all.
I have never seen Chipolopolo lose so many games as during Kamanga’s tenure. Now we the taxpayers will have to pay for this coach since FAZ is so toothless it cant make its own money in such a lucrative sport.
They will be at Nkandu’s door asking for a handout from a government whose offices have no electricity because it doesnt have the money for power. Kamanga leave Zambian football alone. I think I know why Ponga Liwewe left these losers

  2. Will it be a bad idea if FIFA just forgets are National Team for at least 5 years? They will be doing us a favour.

  3. When you employ coaches in a hurry without proper written and performance contracts this is what happens.

  5. Zambians are too passive, accepting these mediocre administrators. Even Biden had the dignity to step down when he was losing for the good of the Democrats. Why can’t Kamanga and his kaponyas do the same for the country?

  6. This Kamanga dude has overstayed at FAZ and it is fair to say he has passed his use by date. What happened to all those noble people who survived the Gabon disaster (apart from Kalusha Bwalya) to take over the affairs of this organisation? Yes they may lack the administrative academic knowledge but they will compensate that by the love they have for the sport and the country. They will be less c0rrupt as well.
