HH backs youth protests, saying they have a democratic right to air their grievances

Share

UNPD president Hakainde Hichilema

Opposition UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema has supported youths in Southern Province who intend to protest on Monday on the national youth day.

Mr. Hichilema said that UPND youths in the region have a democratic right to air their grievances and has urged them to go ahead.

He was responding to questions from Journalists at the party secretariat in Lusaka today. Mr Hichilema said that young people should not be suppressed by authorities such as the police when they want to forward their concerns to Government.

However, the Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes-Saccord- has called on youths who intend to protest in Southern Province tomorrow not to go ahead with their planned action.

Saccord Information Officer Obbie Chibuluma said that youths should refuse to be used by people with selfish political agenda.

Mr Chibuluma said that it is important that necessary channels are used in airing any possible grievances with the government.

He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC news in LUSAKA today.

Mr Chibuluma has stressed the need for dialogue as an amicable way of resolving any political rifts.

Some youths in Southern Province have allegedly been hired by some politicians to demonstrate during the youth day celebrations as a means of protesting the recent re-alignment of Itezhi-Tezhi and Chirundu Districts.

Police have since deployed re-enforcement to quell the possible unrest that might arise from the planned protest.

  1. People choose to be hoodwinked by the post and its surprising really. How can one HH manage to convince and hire just about all the youths in southern province. God will one day judge M’membe and his minions for misleading so many Zambians.

    • And M’membe will still rule us one day. Just remember that I said this. M’membe, along with Inonge Wina, are most harmful people for our country..

  2. I hope that witch doctor will be there as well since he’s a youth..finish them all..!!!youths have a right to demonstrate !!viva 2016HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  3. HH has continued to dig his grave. His daily actions are self eliminate him from being a president of Zambia. Maybe if southern province become a country where HH can be a dictator.

  4. Poor leadership approach you are behaving like MCS in opposition making statements that will haunt you if you ever make head of state but at this rate not even MP

  5. Do not spend sleepless nights on the post. The paper is not selling and i would not be shocked if it closes down. People are not buying the paper because of lies.A paper which only writes about two stories either tonga that or RB. god should help Mmembe he shinda paper under serious financial pressure. To make matters worse the man is owing government big time ans is dead scared of HH. God is great Mmembe has found his match is mwanamuchende HH.

  6. Its sad that HH is encouraging youths to demonstrate instead of speaking peace.in the invent of demonstration there is a likely would of fights coming up.HH should know that its not everyone who is in line with his way of calling for attention. Please be useful and speak of development.you do not need to wait until you are president to bring your ideas of development on board.

  7. Some political leaders are not worth to support. How in the world a leader can encourage youths to demostrate over an issue that can be tabled through dialogue? we all know how youths behave when it comes to demonstrations, is HH gona take care of the consequeces that will come out of this demonstration? Lets face it people this wont be a peacefull demo because some youths will be drunk and destroy things, properties in the name of this Demo which HH IS SAYING ITS A RIGHT. Yes its a right but honestly we know how youths demonstrate EG Mongu saga

  8. HH should change his strategy if he intends 2continue harbouring presidential ambitions .southern province is not zambia!this chap should know wat problems the people of luapula has for instant!surprisingly he thinks everything is sp starts & ends with him.Its a shame for this bantustan.Dont provoke unnecessary tension, pipo ve enough issues to attend to.Abash violence abash under 5

  9. I will vote for a true democrati in 2016 for HH not sata the blood sucker. I regret having put my vote for him. Instead of creating jobs for us youths in kitwe here the man is wasting time of fighting poor tongas. The youths want jobs and not this nonsense of fighting your citizens.Anywhere god has a way of getting rid of dictates with no direction. Where is sadam,Gadafi…..

  10. 2016 we shall vote for HH all zambians have the democratic right to a peaceful protest…..Sata is becoming and his galfriend libongani are becoming vampires. Viva HH for 2016…become here in eastern province and sell your self. you are the only person speaking sense now.

  11. but truethful speaking people have a democratic right to protest constitutinaly..i think HH is speaking the truth only that some people are mistaking him because he comes from sourthen. Am PF but i think HH is right. Sometimes the truth is bitter. our party should concetrate on creating jobs and not these silly things they are wasting time on…We better be careful already we have been in power for close to seven months and we have nothing to show for as PF apart from serious governance inadequacies bashikulu is showing. At this point i am doubting whether i made a good choice to support bashikulu…If we are not careful as PF we could see a serious migration of people from PF. People are talking and so far many are some how confused with what is going on in PF. No promise has been fufili

  12. Mcs miscalculated on the issue of realignments. Is this the beginning of his exit? A lot of zambians are disappointed with his lies and dictatorial style of governance. All those frustrated will jump on the wagon of demonstrators to ease their emotional pain peacefully.

  13. Hey hey, can all the monkeys pls retreat to the tree tops. We want to claim our land. HH you the man show soliderity for a just cause. Insult HH as much as you want but it will not give you bread and butter. You forgot that HH is a bull. this fight is for all bulls lol.

  14. Go ahead youths . We are tired of being manipulated by grade 7 Muchinga *****s. Let them swallow thier own poison, Stupid monkeyys , do not use the Barosteland Sagga to intimidate people who want to use their right, who told you they will be violent. Provoke them and how micheal will redret to be boen. Sha, atase

  15. Go ahead youths . We are tired of being manipulated by grade 7 Muchinga *****s. Let them swallow thier own poison, Stupid monkeyys , Mulacibona casubibizya bapombo kumiddidi

  16. wat nonsense! HH is very shallow minded, wat does one lose if chirundu en itezhi tezhi is administrately moved fro southern? Dats wat the youth shud bring on the table, wat will they lose? They wil stil be Ilas an Tongas, they wil stil b under the chief, they wil stil b in the same constituency, they stil b zambians. The only thing dat changes is that the provincial centre wil b lusaka en kabwe which is near their home. One does nt lose their identity. We have alot of Tongas who ar doing progresive things in chibombo, kabwe en mkushi, they hav nt lost their pride they a stil Tongas. So countrymen we hav alot of work t do t develop this nation, please nt this crap

  17. I would applaud the youth in Itezhi-Tezhi and Chirundu if they decided to demonstrate, but NOT youth from Mazabuka!!! Sorry, but the issue of district realignment DOES NOT affect YOU. It is foolish to jump in front of a bullet that is NOT aimed at YOU.

  18. # 20 SAMBA WAIONA good point ,however let them demonstrate its not in
my motherland so who cares`, moreover they will just disadivantage themselves, us we re peacefull than they are period.

  19. What i dont understand from HH is that; southern pronvince can demonstrate its ok. But does he ever see himself as a president and all pronvinces protest against his rule exept southern, how easy would that make his job as presido?

  20. For the great SP our God given we shall die.All ethnic groups came either from Zaire or from Shaka Zulu’s Kingdom, they found us in this land.We have welcomed them. But now Kolwestans think we dull that we would watch them dismantle us.Balumbu kubija we shall meet you head-on

  21. iiiish poor hh,u have just uncovered the underground work upnd was doing,i know u still don’t believe that H.E MCS is ruling.wat do u have to lose if you were to sit down with the president and sort out isues as leaders?am saying so coz you have turned a policy isue into a political one, deep down your heart you know that the president ment right for administration means, but because you are so selfish you want to bring confusion in our beloved country, just wait and see, development is coming to chirundu wich your special adviser douglas siakalima dint bring,

  22. Let’s be patriotic as Zambians, Why should anyone make us believe that ITT is closer to kabwe than Choma when we know fully well that Kabwe is further by a whooping 400KM, Simple logic-now how does it become easier to administer??? let Sata concentrate on giving the youths jobs which he promised other than trying to realign a non aligned people. Let Sata reallign his own govt’s thinking coz we are tired of his failing govt..Viva HH 2016

  23. Let remind so shallow minded people on here who want to trivialise this issue. When Zambia fought for independence it was for the sake of claiming their land. Land always ignites fierce battles so wake up. I know some of you are just ashamed that when your provinces were being mutilated you remained docile because you don’t know the value of land. After all you survive through UKUTOLAFYE. For us southerners, Land is our heritage and we are ready to die for it.

  24. Let the boycott who cares, they will be met by the law anyway. HH is really an under5, stinks of tribalism. Eish

  25. HH wants to destroy UPND because he knows he will be kick out at this year party elections or he is going to MMD as president there. He is making it difficult for the party to resurrect because he is destroying it completely. May be he wants to join MMD. But the chewas say “Pamutsatsa tsayipitsa” becuase you come back. We know he is being poached by MMD. He should not destroy our UPND. Shallow minded disgruntled loser.

  26. Genuine sensible PF youths must boycott as well to send a message to Sata that they are not *****s by voting him into statehouse.

  27. VIVA HH, you are the man. Those who hate him can go and hang. We have rejected your mad president because we do not need him. We manage our own affairs pls imwe bakolwe. We have been in opposition for a long time and we love it. We are even more developed than you who rule. Can’t you stop and ask yourselves why? Selfish people. This is a fight for all BULLS or you have forgotten that HH is a bull. All think of is poliitcs, what the shit. We are not asking for anyones sympathy so take your miserable comments to your fellow cowards, shaaa.

  28. hh is right. sata,s hatred for southern prvoince is just too much………..is tinbecause of his ailing testicles?

  29. I thought demonstrations are part and parcel  of democracy and are a component of political engagement and therefore a useful tool in a democratic society. Those condemning HH are encouraging dictatorship, and the likely case is these are people protecting self interest.
You can villify the man as you want but on this one he is right.

  30. Southern power,  we will show the Kolwestan what we are mmade of. LEts fight these satanist hard,  to our bones.

Go to hell you homosexual president.

  31. Why is this minority group so bitter? You cannot win against the majority in a democracy. Grow up you under fives

  32. Ma rubbish, which minority and who are you son of a thief. Total idiocy, you are used to trampling on others and now that the Tongas are taking you at your game you are shambles. Just leave this blog and rush to the street mukulomba ubwafwilisho lest you find your father has collected all goodies from well-wishers lol.

  33. HAKAINDE WILL NEVER RULE ZAMBIA. AND THOSE YOUTHS MUST KNOW THAT THEIR LIVES IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN POLITICS. THEY SHOULD BE AWARE THAT HAKAINDE HAS CROSSED THE BRIDGE AND THEM ARE JUST TOO FAR IN LIFE. AND MOST OF YOU BLOGGERS HERE ARE NOT IN ZAMBIA BUT YOU ARE SENDING YOUR OWN BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN FRONT OF A GUN JUST FOR SOMETHING YOU KNOW THAT NOT EVEN HAKAINDE CAN PROVIDE JOBS FOR EVERY ZAMBIAN IN JSUT FIVE MONTHS. THINK PROPERLLY PEOPLE!

  34. Mimi and Samason why do you think that the source all your failure stem from the fact that you are Tonga?
You guys need to go past your ‘tribe’ and move on with the modern Zambia.Zambia has evolved a great deal but slow people like you will need a miracle to move on.

  35. UNDER 5 IWE HH. u are trully an under 5. dats baby thinking man. cant u grow en say somthing constructive. i expect u to encourage youths to build da nation en not to distruct it. shame on u HH coz u wil owez b a failure in politics. Think like a man mwaice wandi

  36. And Chieftainess Mwenda says the UPND is responsible for the current tension between the government and traditional rulers in Southern Province over re-alignment of some districts.

Chiefs Musungwa of Itzehi-tezhi, Mwanachingwala, Mwenda and Hanjalika said chiefs on their own had no capacity to raise funds for such huge meetings that require huge resources.

Chief Musungwa said the pocket agenda being propagated by chiefs Mukuni and Chikanta on behalf of the opposition UPND would soon be exposed and the truth known.

  37. …….He said it was wrong for the chiefs to hide their true colours using the re-alignment of Itezhi-tezhi and Chirundu districts to Central and Lusaka provinces respectively.

He said it had become clear that the two leaders were equally bitter with the loss their political party, UPND, suffered during last September’s elections.

Chief Musungwa observed that the debate on re-aligning Itezhi-tezhi should be left to the people of Itezhi-tezhi to decide and not a clique of traditional rulers hired to fight the government………….

  38. He said it was wrong for the chiefs to hide their true colours using the re-alignment of Itezhi-tezhi and Chirundu districts to Central and Lusaka provinces respectively.

He said it had become clear that the two leaders were equally bitter with the loss their political party, UPND, suffered during last September’s elections.

Chief Musungwa observed that the debate on re-aligning Itezhi-tezhi should be left to the people of Itezhi-tezhi to decide and not a clique of traditional rulers hired to fight the government.

  39. kekekekekekekekekekek…………..Chief Musungwa further challenged the organisers of the meeting to tell the nation why chiefs in Itezhi-tezhi have not been invited for the meeting despite also being affected by the re-alignment…….FOOLISH UNDER 5

  40. So which people is UPND representing on this realignment if the chief affected can say this…………….He also wondered who the chiefs were representing on the re-alignment of Itezhi-tezhi district to Central Province because the local people were happy with government and could not wait for the policy to be implemented………Some one should be arrested for promoting anarchy in our country.

  41. #HH has a right to say things. Bottling issues is what causes problems. Atleast you know that he hates Sata and the PF. And to us, ba Kaponya or Kolwestans, leave these educated guys alone; give them chance to hurt for now; till 2016 when they will be shocked. From what they have been saying and doing, they may have lost even the thin strand of support that Mazoka developed for them. It’s called anger after poor strategy. Apparently, I miss JOE KALUSA, their political advisor.

  42. Can UPND sycophants here respond to the above sentiments from your chiefs in southern province. Especially the coment at 40 and 41. I believe no one will respond in a pragmatic manner because you all foolish like you party and HH, trying to bring anarchy to this country. Here is what your chiefs with little education but more wiser than HH have said. Shemuna, SHAAAME

  43. Youths crying about employment not being created! My foot! They is need for people, particularly the Youth to be realistic. Are you looking at employment creation as some tangible product? Think through and reason properly. It is not a matter of abracadabra ” Let there be employment…” And all the Youths are employed! Some ways of creating employment is to provide an enabling environment for industry establishment, investors coming into the country …. This cannot take place in a few months government has been in power. People should also not only think of formal employment. How much entrepreneurship minded are we as Zambians?

  44. Bwana HH, surely you should know better that sponsoring protests in Southern Province cannot bring down PF government. It will just boomerang. Your UPND will suffer instead. You even forgot that Itezhitezhi and Chirundu would still remain within the Bantu Botatwe family and thereby alienating Mumbwa and Lusaka Bantu Botatwe. Tribalism does not pay. It blinds.

  45. VIVA HH YOUTHS HAVE A RIGHT TO DEMONSTRATE WE REGRET FOR VOTING IN THIS USELESS PF GOVENRMENT, THE KWACHA IS LOOSING VALUE EACH DAY, THE POUND IS NOW K9000, YOUTHS HAVE NO JOBS, SATA STOPPED CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT SCHEME WHERE DOES HE THINK PEOPLE WILL GET CAPITAL TO START BUSINESSES THAT WILL EMPLOY THE YOUTHS, MUKANWA UKUFITA SHAAA!!

  46. Ka HH kaliba bitter. VP yapitilefye pa nosal. Now resorted to appealing to his tribes men. Southern province is not Zambia. If you want to rule zambia you must impress us all ,zambians. Not only the bantustanyoko. Beyond that ,you cant, i mean you cant rule zambia.

  47. HH IS ABOUT TO BREAK  AN ELECTION DEFEAT RECORD AS THE  MOST ALL TIME PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE LOSER,2016 IT WILL BE 4-0.BY THE TIME HE MATURES AND READY,HE WILL BE 76 YEARS OLD ,AGE WILL SURELY CATCH UP WITH HIM,THEN WE SHALL SEE WHAT HE WILL SAY AGAINST AGE LIMIT.

  48. ~@46, octopus

Dont pretend that you voted for Sata. You voted for your HH. Say something else which makes sense.

  49. HH IS TOO DULL TO LEAD A COUNTRY BUT HIS CATTLE.IF GOVT REACTS ARRESTING THIS FOOL HH THEN WE START FIGHTING KILLING ONE OTHER BECAUSE OF HH.NO NO WE WILL LOSE EVERYTHING.WHAT ARE THEY PROTESTING FOR REALIGNMENT OF ITT AND CHIRUNDU ON YOUTH DAY WHY? UPND YOUTHS DIDN’T VOTE FOR PF SO WAIT THE PIPO THAT VOTED HAVE NOT YET REACTED AGAINST PF.HH IS JUST A LOSER INCITING LAWLESSNESS ARREST THIS IMBICILE SO WE CAN FIGHT USING NUMBERS.

  50. In order to restore sanity, ALL UPND and MMD YOUTHS MUST STAY AWAY FROM THE STREETS AND ENJOY THEIR PEACE AT HOMES orquietly take care of their business. Let the PF leadership shower more deceptions to their parading patriotic fuls.

  51. VIVA HH ALL WESTERNERS,NORTH WESTERNER AND SOUTHERNERS ARE BEHIND U NOW.leave those kolwesatans they have no direction.

  52. If you see an injustice being perpetrated fight it with you hand ,if this is not possible fight it with your tongue if this is not possible fight it with your every deed and action and if this is not possible fight it with your conscience and You will be counted has having fought against the oppressor. The Pathetic Front despots have brought decay to Zambia.

  53. HH is an under-fice – a youth – so he boycotted this year’s youth day!!! grow up HH, you are beginning to embarrass your own children now

  54. I loving the youth day celebration. Zambia youth have demonstrated once again how a proud and peaceful Zambians are. Let us continue uniting against bad hearted pipo promoting violence, divisions and tribalism.

  55. HH is right. Sata is a retrograsive leader. He wants to rule by agression. This American stooge thinks the british and americans will support all its ill timed actions. I wish this stooge had at least Grade 9 education, it would have realised that the british empire died in 1958 and that Brazil is now far ahead of Small Britain and more influencial in global politics

  56. There comes a problem when people are in leadership. It does not have to take HH or anyone for that matter to see that Sata has no heart for people of Southern Province. No rocket science involved. How come the entire president is free and feels it is normal to call his own people inferior. He is on record referring to valley Tongas being inferior. The problem is that people we easily take sides, let us move away from the Tonga issue/s. What about the threat to fire civil servants? Recall he was part of the team which fired our doctor friends. Let us be serious a wrong is a wrong and youth of SP or any other part of the country are free to say so.

  57. Kwekwekwe. I suspect your mother dropped you in childwood and you sustained serious head injuries. I recommend you for brain transplant. How do you invite chiefs who were oiled by Kilometer Sampa to attend an important historic function. The Choma declaration is not for corrupt jockers. Just enjoy the job the pf created for you

  58. I am not for the idea to call anyone fool or dull just because he/sshe/they have an opposing view to mine. KweKwe, 40 and 41 with due respect to your tribe or region, I do not expect to be insulted purely on the basis of not agreeing with your president’s approach of ruling this country. Any ways to answer your question or concerns;
    1. It does not matter who rules Sata or Milupi or Chipimo but whoever does should deliver
    2. It is not true that Tongas are less progressive compared to you three, I am sure there is a good chance most of us are well off compared to you all
    3. Ba Sata sending police officers to SP is not for shooting or gunning down youths unless you say otherwise
    4. Job creation within fives of PF govt is what was promised and count down started in Nov 2011

  59. HH you are hiding behind the youths of sp to fight a legitimate government of the day. This is dangerous for you and the people you are telling lies. You are a very bitter man we all know this. You are driving the upnd to the archives.

  60. Viva HH. You have the brains! Tell the nation that tongas are very peaceful and kind pipo.. we should not expect any problems in the choma demos unless provoked.

  61. Did anyone from SP say they were going to be violent or it is supposed to be a peaceful demo? Or could someone educate me on the disadvantages of peaceful demo, I am at a loss.

  62. #70 peaceful demo you get a permit and there is still need for Police presence. From what you tell the police, the police decide how many officers to deploy. But if you just go to the media and yap, the police are not sure what u re up to so they are deployed too many or too few.

  63. hahaha, Right now I am more happy as an ARSENAL FAN than a Zambian. What is wrong with a demo in a democratic national. We had several at UNZA and most of them where effective.PF also supported them when in opposition. Same old sh*t at Zed.
