The United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) has announced the expulsion of Sean Tembo, leader of the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP), and Apostle Dan Pule, leader of the Christian Democratic Party (CDP), citing violations of UKA’s core principles.
In a statement issued by UKA Chairperson Sakwiba Sikota, the alliance’s Council of Presidents (CoP) declared that member leaders and officials are strictly prohibited from joining other political alliances. The decision is aimed at fostering unity and preventing the fragmentation of opposition efforts in addressing what they describe as the “maladministration and extreme poverty created by the UPND government.”
The alliance, which includes a coalition of opposition parties, aims to present a united front against the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) in future elections. Sikota emphasized that UKA welcomes collaboration with political parties, civil society organizations, trade unions, and ordinary Zambians, but it will not tolerate members being part of multiple alliances.
Apostle Pule was singled out for his involvement with the Tonse Alliance, a separate political coalition, which led to his expulsion from UKA. “The core purpose of UKA is to reduce the number of political players and present a common strategy to the electorate. Encouraging multiple alliances only creates confusion,” Sikota said.
Sean Tembo, a prominent figure in UKA, was also removed from the alliance due to his role in promoting the Tonse Alliance and for allegedly undermining fellow UKA members. Peter Sinkamba, leader of the Green Party, was similarly dissociated from UKA.
To strengthen the alliance, the Council resolved to recruit new members from outside the participating political parties, ensuring broader support for their movement.
UKA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with several opposition parties, including the Patriotic Front (PF), United Liberal Party (ULP), Citizens First (CF), and others, to “deliver the Zambian people from UPND misrule.”
Too early for cracks to start showing in UKA. I, therefore, think this thing is dead on arrival!
Every single one of these people in UKA want to be president . How that will work is nobody’s business
Ba Pule bakuwayawaya fye. But Tembo is worth keeping in the alliance cos he argues very well. You need politicians who make rational noise unlike these Emmanuel Mwambas and Pules
In Zambia its Politics 24/7
The requirements for anyone who want to be a president, minister etc in the government MUST be;
1. Someone who has lived in diaspora / the west & RSA ( exposure is very important NOT education )
2. Someone who grew up in a city NOT a village, the time for such pipo is outdated
If you cannot do the above, you will remain a village nation as it is
LOL,interesting requirements Ufimbenuma.
Very interesting. Iam from Kankoyo. So I qualify Kikikikikiki!
ONLY AFTER 2026 will you realise the real problem is LUNGU
Even the remaining political parties in UKA, they will disintegrate when close to elections because every body wants to be President, that has been the trend. Do you think the guy who came out number 3 in the last Presidential elections despite getting 0.000000000001% of the vote will agree to give it to somebody else.
It says a lot when a political party and its president are synonimous. UKA expels Tembo and Pule. No one even knows the names of their parties or who their secretary generals are. What a waste of time.
UFIMBENUMA, the people who started fighting for our independence were villagers eg Lewaniga, Nkhumbula, Kaunda, Kapwepwe, Maiza Chona and many others.
@Collins Teembo . Both Kaunda and Nkumbula lived in Chilenje, Lewanika in Kitwe and Mainza Chona actually studied law in the U.K (Gray’s Inn). Hardly villagers were they?
Are they also going to expel lungu when PF also joins the other alliance who have already declared lungu as their candidate for the presidential election 2026? Let’s wait and see.
Comedy Central….kikiki Meanwhile, I have just installed solar at my compound.
Zambia should have a viable alternative, but this alternative should not be Edgar Lungu. Edgar Lungu is inherently corrupt.
……..
Only in Africa would some one who is embattled and fighting corruption allegations surrounding his family , directly linking him………
Would campain still to be president before even attempting to clear those allegations……….
The man is a corrupt theif
On another note, the only reason for this UKA ensemble is because they belive lungu has plenty money, as GRZ tightens the screws on lungus illicit funds………
Watch as more UKA disintegrates
Oh I see you are an alien from outer space. Only in Africa? There’s also someone called Donald Trump in North America. He has already been convicted of corruption and is facing more charges but he is standing for Presidency. Since the world is now full of conspiracy theorists, he could just easily puppeteer them into voting him back into office. Woe upon us when that happens!
Edgar Lungu is a corrupt thief. His stay in politics is necessitated by his fear of being prosecuted. It remains sad to see grown men accept that they cannot find an alternative leader simply because Lungu has an insurmountable level of wealth accumulated through deals such as the KCM liquidation and fire-tenders to mention but a few. Zambians can do better than Edgar.
No Saki you haven’t expelled anyone you have merely severed the two from the ‘alliance’….it would appear you want an alliance that is exclusively with UKA?
I think those being expelled or have resigned are the ones against the candidature of Edgar Lungu. They know that a leopard never changes its spots
Lungu ain’t no leopard my man. He’s from the bugs bunny species. Buckteeth get it?
So that cantankerous donkey Sangoma Dan Pule is still among the living, I thought I once heard he kicked the bucket after being caught having canal knowledge of one of his married congregants! Some monsters that creep the Zambian landscape are vile, Pule is one such with the one other being Summer Kabimba!
Watching from the terrance
