Zambia’s President Michael Sata today held an investment meeting with Business Executives from MOHAN EXPORTS, an internationally renowned agricultural-equipment manufacturer that is prepared to set up a tractor assembly plant in Zambia which will also serve as a distributing point for the Southern African region.

According to the press statement by his assistant for press George Chellah, the President noted that, the presence of a tractor assembly plant in Zambia will not only benefit commercial farmers but also target peasant farmers who will be able to hire tractors and increase their crop hectarage.

The Head of State said people who have invested in Zambia have never regretted and assured MOHAN EXPORTS of his Government’s support in facilitating the establishment of an assembly and distribution plant.

Mr. Sata was speaking in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, West India, during a business engagement with MOHAN EXPORT General Manager Mr. P.K Malhotra and Deputy Managing Director Mr. K. Anand.

The company is an internationally renowned agricultural-equipment manufacturer and assembles tractors under the brand name- Malhotra. Once established in Zambia the company will create a projected 400 direct jobs and over 5000 indirect jobs.

President Sata who met the two Business Executives in his continued efforts to woo investors to Zambia was flanked by Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Ms. Susan Sikaneta and First Secretary for Press & Tourism at the Zambian Mission Mr. Bwalya Nondo.

  1. Good but let us make sure that the plant will be 51% owned by Zambians, as part of Citizen Empowerment. No Foreign companies should come solo in Zambia. We need more money in Zambians pockets.

    • Yes, but how much do you have laying around to invest in this company when they show up in zambia? You can not demand 51% when you contribute nothing. If you say land, well that’s why comapanies pay taxes. Talk is cheap, let us put our money where our mouths are!!!!!

    • I have learned a few imptorant things as a result of your post. I would also like to state that there may be situation in which you will have a loan and don’t need a co-signer such as a Government Student Aid Loan. In case you are getting that loan through a common lender then you need to be prepared to have a co-signer ready to make it easier for you. The lenders can base any decision on a few components but the most significant will be your credit score. There are some loan companies that will likewise look at your job history and come to a decision based on this but in most cases it will hinge on your report.

  2. ukwa you have learnt photoshop???
dont worry mwana everyone gets sick, just relax, take a break and concentrate on your health

  3. chikubabe upnd members. what more do you want from the president get your lives back on track and stop this nonsense wish wish he was ill.

  4. Just as much as it sounds good, things are not good back home here sir. Only a foolish investor can thinks of investing in a country where a split is looming. How safe is it for those guys money you are inviting to bring to this land. sort out the barotse issue you promised sir and once all is well then those guys will come. as of now they will just say yes and you will not see any one here until we go to the polls again.

  5. Let’s be praying for HEMCS for wisdom and good health. May whatever good intentions he has for Zambia prosper.

  6. A must read for everyone. I agree with some people that this seems like a cover up for our President’s real reason for his trip. A rational question would be: when has a Zambian President flown out of the country without an announcement or most of his official having any knowledge?? The fact of the matter is that he is not well and the wise thing is to begin the transition process. One thing I like President’s Sata is his selflessness compared to his predecessor although his leadership and vision lacks in every way. Firstly, we already have envough foreign investors, WE DO NOT ANYMORE FOREIGNERS, WE NEED ZAMBIANS TO BE IN CHARGE OR EMPOWERED. WE DO NOT NEED EXTRA HOTELS

    • I feel sorry for your unwise and weird understanding of foreign investment. Please get educated on this matter

  7. The other thing is there is this common trait by African leaders of always seeking foreign investment and neglect their own people. As President your job is not make foreign wealthier by giving them free access to our natural resources but “Put more money in our people’s pocket” by giving them the opportunity to grow. SO, PLEASE MR. PRESIDENT, I WISH A QUICK RECOVERY BECAUSE WE NEED YOU HOME RATHER THAN SELLING ZAMBIA TO THE WRONG PEOPLE.  MAJORITY OF ZAMBIA SHOULD BE RUN BY ZAMBIANS NOT FOREIGNERS

  8. George Chellah must read news once in a while to know what people in Zambia are interested in.Our entire head of state meeting tuma businessmen instead of telling us whether I now need a passport to visit my mmother-in law in Mongu. We already have Indian businessmen in Zambia…did you have to fly out for that!

    • I have noticed that in caeamrs, exceptional sensors help to focus automatically. The particular sensors with some video caeamrs change in contrast, while others use a beam involving infra-red (IR) light, specifically in low lumination. Higher specification caeamrs sometimes use a combination of both systems and probably have Face Priority AF where the video camera can See’ the face and concentrate only on that. Many thanks for sharing your opinions on this blog.

    • jaja long time ago There were era ne r disss Each sanstag Only Gothic, Wave, etc. was plyaed was sorry to say shut I’ve spent between 25 and 30 each Saturday .VA:F [1.9.12_1141]please wait…VA:F [1.9.12_1141](from 0 votes)

  9. So the President will give land to Indians to come and build hotels in Zed but wont give land to his own citizens in the Diaspora (Botswana) who want to invest back home? Foreigners get everything they ask for and more while Zambians are insulted when they ask. No wonder Lozis want to break way…..i will never stop praying for my country.

    • point taken but there should not be preferential tx for Zambians abroad – any zambian who wants land should have access to it as long it is available

  10. THANKS MR. PRESIDENT. NOW MY FAMILY WON’T HAVE TO TRAVEL TO SOUTH AFRICA TO GET FARM TRACTORS AS ALL WILL BE IN ZAMBIA.

    BRAVO!!

  11. This man is living in the past and has no ideas for Zambia except to cause trouble.

KK tried Livingstone Motor Assemblers and where are they now?

And KK had much more brains than him, he cant even copy something properly!

  12. #21 Totally agree with you. Sata and his gutter journalist from the Post are debasing the office of the president. How in the world can a president be meeting people in such a shabby place with cheap furnishings. Is that a TV remote on the table? This is despicable and downgrading the office of the president.

And with that tiny flag, looks like some cheap Nigerian trying to pretend that he is Zambian president. This is really shameful. I can’t even see the air of authority around that . Thank ka room, flag and table could easily fit in Kalingalinga.

Somebody put some sense into the president, and please don’t start me with the old age debate. that is why he is allowed to get advisors

    • some times if you don’t have any thing to say better keep quiet still leaking the wounds of loosing, sorry

  13. In return for what? Tax breaks…the president has bigger fish to fry at home this is the job of your minister or deputy of commerce they have all the data…just go back home, if you are not on sick leave.

    • Can you please pivdroe information on the xtreme cross training class. Is this a community course not just for students. How long does it run. How agressive is the class? Thanks!

  14. The longer it takes for the President to came the more speculative people will become. I ask thee MR PRESIDENT we need you here. Thank u

  15. #26 Dogma
I agree with you entirely, the continued stay of the president in India under mysterious circumstances is unprecedented and has become worriesome and comical.

  16. Gorge chela is dull. Saying a republican president is meeting an export manager of a non discrete indian company. That is taking the presidence beneath the bar. Look at the so called boardroom where the meeting took place. Looks like these guys came to say, “how are you feeling today bigman. We will remove the catheta tomoro

  17. I don’t support Sata’s Govt and PF but on this,I think that’s what the President must think like…Using an holiday or whatever it is,as the best opportunity to make some business…Bravo Sata, and get well soon…the Kaponyas miss you.

  18. Ukwa had mistaken the BRIC summit happening in India for a SADCC meeting.. he his now trying to find meeting like this to justify is Tourism visit

  19. Just hoodwink us. This man is sick. I hope he wont cause another diplomatc problem just like in Botswana.

  20. UPND and HH you are just ashamed to see his photo, you thought he is not living no wonder you were celebrating.

  21. yaba i thnk age restriction should be obsaved here. Kindergarten thinking by most of my fellow ng’ombestans..what do u people rily want?

  22. First things first Mr president why not create a peaceful and conducive environment at home before investors come?

  23. Is export manager the same as CEO? I thought the president should be meeting some big bosses that call the shots not kabwangas of some unknown firm (he is actually number five in the line of power-check on google). Why not meet real potential investors? Maybe when you are back on duty?

  24. According to the press statement by his assistant for press George Chellah, the President noted that, the presence of a tractor assembly plant in Zambia will not only benefit commercial farmers but also target peasant farmers who will be able to hire tractors and increase their crop hectarage.

BULLSHIT……the idea should be to stimulate the manufacturing industry and not making Zambia the end user of such products. Skills transfer should be emphasized so that 10 years after setting up the plant Zambia engineers could be able to run it and produce 30% of the components in Zambia. Problem is we let politicians and not technocrats run the economy. SHAME when will Zambai learn

  25. ZUMA, the president of RSA is attending a BRICS meeting in India, and what does your president do? Meet tractor saleman in some obsecure room!!! RB was travelling because he was being invited . He is now in USA at Boston university which has in the past invited luminaries like Arch Bishop Desmend Tutu, a first for Zambia. You can not keep good and educated men down. When you good and educated, you stay that way because the world takes note of you. No amount of orchestrated lies by the POST will keep RB down. No country or president will ever invite Sata and that is why he takes advantage of his sick leave to arrange meaningless investor meetings. He simply does not belong to the Presidents’ league!!! The best he can do is gate crash SADC meetings.
