President Hichilema during the Commissioning of the Zambeef Products PLC wheat flour Mill Plant, Launch of the 2024 winter Maize Harvest and Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of Zambeef in Mpongwe District on the Copperbelt.
President Hakainde Hichilema said his administration has put in place will help the economic status of the country to improve in two to three years.

Speaking when he met the Lamba chiefs in Mpongwe , President Hichilema said that despite some people being sceptical of the government’ s economic road map, the path of economic development will be achieved through hardwork.

He noted that the government has a mission to develop the country through hard work.

“People don’t know where we are going but in two to three years this country will improve,” Mr Hichilema said.

The President said the ongoing works on the Ndola/Lusaka road and Luanshya Fisenge road will contribute to the economic development of the country and the Copperbelt province.

He urged Zambians to develop the culture of hard work to ensure that the prevailing hunger situation is addressed.

Mr Hichilema noted that once the rainfall situation stabilizes this year and the young people engage themselves into agriculture the food deficit will be tackled.

“I was brought up in the culture of hard work and I hope young people will emulate it and start growing five to ten hectares of maize to root out hunger,” Mr Hichilema said.

The President who is in Mpongwe to launch the ZAMBEEF winter maize harvest said it is the first time winter maize is being grown at a large scale in Mpongwe district.

Mr Hichilema also said chiefs will this year be given fertilizer through the Farm Impute Support Programme (FISP) for them to show leadership among their subjects in growing crops.

Lamba Lima Deputy Chairperson Chief Machiya thanked President Hichilema for supporting the private sector such as ZAMBEEF to embark on winter maize production.
Chief Machiya also appealed to President Hichilema to consider building a district hospital and a police station.

    • And better reporting ba LT please. This story looks like one done by a Grade Seven drop out. Look at that intro. Its all cacophony followed by insipid sentences like “He noted that the government has a mission to develop the country through hard work”

  1. Zambian people have always been hardworking. To tell us to work hard is a great insult. Look at peasant farmers, they toil every year only to sell their produce at give away price. The fact that he’s wealthy doesn’t mean he’s more hard working than us. He stumbled on the riches by sheer “accident”…it could be someone else. A pension company he’s associated with has failed to reimburse some former miners their contributions….so how can these people believe in hard work when the money they toiled for has just disappeared?

    • A lot of our village people and some in urban areas are hardworking, but we also have a lot of lazy people. The work culture in Zambia can not be said to be good. This is just the truth for some of our people.

    • Deja Vu

You think the country is made up of peasant farmers only …… ???

It is the civil servants, small business owners and all zambian workers the president is referring to……….

there is a lazy , steal culture in our society…….

That needs to be addressed every time the president opens his mouth

    • @Spaka… that’s why I say you are dull and shallow. Did you want me to mention every Jim and Jack. I mentioned something that’s close to me, something I understand and do. Forget it….. that’s why you pretend you have power in house 24/7. Somebody calls you if you have power, but just to defend Upnd, you say ise electricity is always there… meanwhile you have had no power for two days.

    • Dejavu

Unless you are myopic and live in your garden and don’t see the laziness and poor work culture in our country……….

Other wise, any honest person will tell you……..

There is a poor work culture, with civil servants and most workers busy running side hustles while at work………

If you think Zambians are hard workers……

why are we not developed despite mineral wealth since your clique was in power for 10 years ???

  2. The economy is so bad after August 2021 despite the self praises from the leadership and that was still the case even before the drought. There is need to start working as the common man is still wallowing in abject poverty especially after August 2021

  3. From the poverty on the ground there is need for this government to start working. And especially that things worsened after August 2021

  4. There is need for the leadership to start working and stop self praises, the economy is in shambles since August 2021 and was like that even before the drought. UPND and PF appear same same or draw draw. Sad reality, no alternative

  5. The economy has been in doldrums since August 2021 but the leadership is engrossed in self praises. The economy was bad even before the drought, so no more excuses please

  6. Self praises by the leadership won’t solve the bad economy which worsened after August 2021, and no one should blame the drought as the economy was still bad even before the drought

  7. See them coming, hear them talk but never believe whatever they say these politicians. Since 1964 Zambians are hard workers who just happen to have politicians who lack true love for our nation. Zambians have never had a govt that truly love them. Just saying so that i am not called by gate keepers a Zimbo or Chilufya Tayali

    • Every country has its share of vagabonds. The majority of our people work very hard. You are told to stop supporting your farmers by the EU etc but these people support their farmers to the hilt.

  8. Zambia look what you voted for…a motivational speaker…..Pompwe HH is all talk no substance and he is not even ashamed of himself

  9. Load shedding, high electricity costs, fuel shortages, high fuel prices, unstable exchange rate etc etc. It more likely to be a negative growth in the next three years.

  10. This man will go to hell. No wander he does not even want to pray on the 18th. The economy is worse than Zimbabwe today and yet he wants Zambians to believe in him for the next three years. His time is up in 18months and only a fool will give him another three years.

  11. ………

How people expect a functional economy after 10 years of borrowing, misrule, corruption and tribal cader violence and the work place and on our streets is unbelievable……..

    Shocking….

If it Was not for low water levels, maybe……

We belive there wil be enough leeway to ease the cost of living towards the end of 2025……..

    Forwadee 2031…….

    • A miracle… you will only win if by some magic things pick up.
      2) If you rig the election (expect a backlash)
      3) You register every living thing in a certain province.
      As it’s… I doubt it.

  12. Dejavu

Normal Zambians can see the difference in a normal functioning country……

Not those PF cader kaponyas you socialise with who are missing controlling public spaces and extorting the public……

    It is…….

    Forwadee 2031..
