Maina Soko Medical Centre marked Zambia’s 60th Diamond Jubilee Independence Day with the joyful arrival of a bouncing baby boy born to Mrs Loveness Mukatasha – Zulu of Lusaka.
The timing made the event even more meaningful, as Mrs. Zulu’s age (59 years) almost mirrored the nation’s Diamond Jubilee.
After a long wait for motherhood, Mrs. Zulu reflected on how God answered her prayers with the miracle of her baby.
Overflowing with gratitude, she thanked the staff at Maina Soko Medical Centre saying,
“The care I’ve received here has been extraordinary. I am truly thankful for the kindness and professionalism shown to me during this miraculous journey.”
To honor the moment, the Commandant Maina Soko Medical Centre, Brig Gen (Dr) Levy Muchemwa, presented a hamper of assorted baby items to her on 25th October, 2024 on behalf of the institution.

Good she didn’t experience complications as it’s risky to have children after the age of 45. I hope more attention will be paid to the baby boy until age 5.
But baswaini imwee…
You attack girls for child pregnancy, and now you are insulting women who should inspire girls to wait for 45 years.
SHE MAY HAVE EQUALLED OR BROKEN THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORD.
“The oldest verified mother to conceive naturally (listed currently as of 26 January 2017 in the Guinness Records) is Dawn Brooke (Guernsey); she conceived a son at the age of 59 in 1997”
Apply for her to claim the title for herself and the country
Kikikikikiki! Nigerian websites are full of such stories with pictures. In 2018 I read about a Ugandan mum of 92 who gave birth after a 50 year long marriage.
Last December, BBC reported on a Ugandan mother of 70, Namukwaya, who gave birth to twins after IVF. There’s a 73 year old mother called Mangamma in Hyderabad India. With advacement in Science we cant rule out old mothers in the future.
Bafana ba mu Lusaka na fyanta nkote mpaka mwana apeluke
What the hell does this mean? Not all of us Zambians understand this language!
The boys in Lusaka have to wait until the child is born
I know it is nature, but it is also irresponsible to have a child at that age. Anyway, in Zambia, children are raised by siblings.
“irresponsible to have a child at that age”
By which standards or rules?…If the mother has the means to raise the child then its perfectly okay.
In developed countries, this is normal. If the mother dies at 70, the child becomes an instant $$$millionaire at 10 years old as a result of inheritance.
Wonderful News Indeed!!!
