Stop It! – says Nevers Mumba

Share

We wish to advise the nation.
It has come to our attention that there are some among us who wish to draw attention to themselves and use the death of our sister Honourable Edith Nawakwi as a chance to play the blame game and try to point fingers at who or what could have contributed to her unfortunate passing. These divisive sentiments are being thrown all over social media and elsewhere with callous disregard for the family of the late Edith Nawakwi and with absolutely no understanding of who played what role, and the full circumstances in which she was evacuated and how we finally lost her.

Listen. I think this is disrespectful, inappropriate, and un-Zambian. I believe she deserves to be mourned by all who wish to, in dignity and peace. In all this, the most hurt people are the family and close friends of Honourable Nawakwi. We must not allow politics of hate to make this funeral toxic for the family and other Zambians who genuinely feel they have lost a loved one.
Let’s strive to maintain a sense of dignity and respect as we remember Honourable Nawakwi’s life and legacy. By doing so, we can ensure that her memory is honored and that her family and friends feel supported during this difficult time.

In Bemba, we have what we call “Isambo lyamfwa”. This is the meeting that takes place after laying a loved one to rest. It is in this meeting issues concerning the death are discussed. Those with issues about Hon Nawakwi’s death can raise them after she has been laid to rest.
For now, let us unite in grief.

  1. Yeah, too much kachepa on social media these days. Anyways, the only viable cure for misinformation is more freedom of speech!

  2. Are you the family spokesperson. Sit down and let people voice out in which ever form they want, that is part of mourning. So stop misleading people as usual

    • He is using bemba instruction, forgetting that in nyanja they say olila sibamugwila kamwa literrally meaning you cannot stop a mourner from mourning the way they want, in any death, people will talk, that does not mean they are mourning without dignity. They are still mourning with dignity, Let people mourn please including on social media if need be

    • Wisdom does not need to come from the family. Culturally, you do not start talking about differences and acting like the way some of these politicians are acting. The fact is the late Nawakwi was unwell and we should not act like she was killed. Dr. Mumba is on firm ground to offer such advice.

  3. Start ‘ attempting’ to organise the defunct MMD please. You are wasting time being a vuvuzela. You killed a vibrant party

  6. Nevers Mumba has not only lost the statesmanship that was accorded to him when he was appointed veep of the Republic of Zambia but has also become a disgrace to our nation. Whenever he opens his mouth one is attempted to think that he is bewitched or some kind of given up to something.

  7. So in short its ok for Nevers Mumba to draw attention to himself using Edith Nawakwi’s death…he doesn’t want competition…he just want Nevers Mumba in the news …this moron if sick in his head….if Nevers Mumba is still on Government payroll then he should be arrested for theft and corruption

    • Deja vu

I see your whistle blower was jailed for one year. ????

Without providing the evidence you said he had ????

We are confused, can you enlighten us on why evidence of corruption was not
provided , evidence you vehemently said he had ????

    • #Spaka just use your common sense for a while. The people who sued him never attended court not even a single day. The magistrate took all the roles: plaintiff, prosecutor and judge. These are cases which will put many people in trouble… even if evidence is there but how do you produce it if you are not asked like in a normal court in a normal country

    • Deja Vu – as a journalist, I would like to tell you where we went wrong. When we pressured HH to give up Presidential defamation we forgot to enlighten him and the nation that why we didn’t want that law was because it was undemocratic. With the kicking out of the Presidential defamation law we needed to concomitantly change the defamation laws that dont conform to Democracy.

    • Our lawyers should have led us in moving Defamation from a crime to a civil offence. But they are never pro-active. It was ridiculous to listen to the magistrate finding Munir Zulu guilty. He indeed assumed the role of complainant and prosecutor. This should have been a civil case (without prosecutors). In a democracy, the offended needs to prove he was defamed. Noone should do it for him. This is a law that is out of place.

    • Dejafoool
Criminal libel is raised by the state against a defendant.that is the complainant in the case was the state. The evidence was overwhelming they did not need the two ministers to testify in court.
Munir raised a serious allegation on the wrongdoing which he did not avail to the Anti-Corruption Commission but instead opted to go viral. He failed to provide evidence in court but sought the protection of the concourt.Twelve years hard labor for defamation is the logical consequence
Munir now looks like a girl in a boys prison.I hope to see him participating in burying unclaimed bodies at Chingwere cemetery as part of his hard labor sentence

  8. Pastor Mumba
I don’t think anyone should listen to you when you are so silent in all other things and the abuse of the judiciary by this man whom you are kissing up to be considered Veep. With all due respect No one is listening to you.
He is responsible for abusing Edith and he is responsible for abusing GBM and he is very capable of doing that to you.

    • The man has no human heart. He knew GBM had issues with the law but appointed him his vice president…. PF went for him using those issues so the man had no alternative but to return to PF… question is had PF not brought up those issues and GBM had stayed in Upnd wouldn’t he be our vice president? Morality is lacking in our leadership… it’s fish eats fish.

  9. Awe ba Nevers Mumba bena bawelewele. Aba ebali abakopo pa Hillcrest. Ukabweshe nendalama wampokele ati bupe ndepela. Kabolala wakantu. Ala ukafwa ububi ngashi.
