Kambwili warns Renard

Zambia national socer team technical director Honour Janza (l), head coach Herve Renard and physical trainer Patrice Beaumelle take team players through their paces at the Olympic youth development center in Lusaka

SPORT and Youth Minister, Chishimba Kambwili has advised national soccer coach Herve Renard not to rush to the Press if aggrieved by members of staff at his ministry but dialogue with him.

Kambwili said in an interview yesterday that it was wrong to discuss administrative matters in the media and that any matters of concern should be dealt with through available channels of communication.

“This is anarchy and indiscipline to discuss my members of staff in the Press. We should not discuss issues of administration in the
newspapers. If FAZ and Renard have problems with any of my staff, they should come to me and not rush to the Press,” he said.

On arrival from Sudan on Sunday in Ndola, Renard accused director of sport Bernard Nakacinda of being one of the people who were not helpful to the Chipolopolo’s cause.Renard complained about the Chipolopolo’s travel arrangements where the African champions were made to use a commercial flight to Sudan for last weekend’s 2014 World Cup qualifier.

“I spoke before the game about travelling arrangements. Some people don’t want to help us especially the director of sport. We are not professionals, we are amateurs. I don’t like working like this,” he said.

Kambwili challenged FAZ and Renard to present facts to him and that he would then take action.

“They should come to me with facts and I will take action against such an official,” he said.

But FAZ vice-president, Boniface Mwamelo declined to comment on the matter saying he was yet to get a report from delegation leader, Happie Munkondya.
“I’m yet to get a report from the delegation leader. Basing on the report, we will take it forward,” Mwamelo said.

  1. bad  capenters  always  blame  their  tools!!!!! we  lost we  did  not  prepare  well  and some  foreign based  player  reported  late!!!we  also  underrated  our  opponets!!

  2. This is the problem with Africans. They want to discuss things in the Bedroom. The Minister should know that this is a national issue. Renard is very right to expose your incompetency which you want to hide away in bedroom talks. How can a team arrive less than 48 hours in a hostile environment like Sudan?

Bwana Minister time to discuss issues which are supposed to be public in bedrooms is long gone. Even before the trip, the coach warned you that your were f.u.c.king up what do you now want to discuss in private?

  3. i think we lacked much preparations and no big time friendlies. there z still time and more games to come. let the team prepare adequately. moreover, this weekends game is a must win to keep our hopes of toping the group.

  4. What can I say about this buffo@n Kambwili always trying to be hands on in FAZ affairs, saves him right…why is he also warning the manager in public? very soon those FIFA guys will get involved and sh*t will definitely hit the fan. Where is your King Kalu in all this to show some leadership??

  5. Sh*t has already hit the fan and we smelling it. Now Zambia from the lok of things did not prepare adqautely for the Sudan game. It has put us in awkward situation with -9 goals aggregate to overhaul going into Ghana game (Ghana won 7 – 0 and we lost 2 Nil). We need to beat Ghana home and waya and beat Sudan in the reverse fixture to progress to the last round, the knockout phase.

  6. Renard has always been an indisciplined chap with no reverence for authority. I don’t even know why he was brought back after he abandoned the team in Angola.
We lost not because of the transport issue Renard is trying to put forth but due to inadequate preparations and poor administration by the entire FAZ team.
Can FAZ and the entire coaching staff tell the nation what they did in the run up to the Sudanese match? The accidental winning of the AFCON cup made Kalusha grow an extra ball, further reducing his blood supply to his underdeveloped brain. We are getting back to what we are used to…..losing!!

  7. this ***** of a minister. so we loose one game and everything is in flames? we are ok. we afcon champions we are the team to beat

  8. Focus on the Ghana game….. 4get Kambwili…the team that won the Afcon was prepared by Namualambe as sports minister in 2011…now Kambwili do your job dont swim in other peoples glory.

  9. All is not lost. Win the remaining games and you will top the group. Anything short of that, you are doomed..

  10. I’m just amazed as to why GRZ should be involved in making travel arrangements for FAZ, as for the friendlies i told you guys about taking a team B to Angola and not playing a single friendly since AFCON. FAZ has the resources to make its own arrangements but have poor administrators/managers and are highly corrupt…this is the only way “Kalu bootlickers” will wake up and start asking  about the elephant in the room.
Zambia should be very thankful they met Sudan first and not the Black stars as we would have been humiliated…it was a good wake up, I also highly doubt it FAZ even sent spies to watch the Ghana game.

    • This is the 21st century so there is no need to waste tax payers money sending fat cats as ‘spies’ when you can easily analyze the game on tape!

  11. I am not surprised as this is typical of Zambian football when it critically matters for the lover’s of the sport! I don’t expect much either

  12. Lets bring back DARIO BONET and hire renard when we qualify to brazil…Renard is only good with already preaperd minds, while bonet is good with back ground. May be we need both?????

  13. The minister should find out if indeed what the director is accused of is true or not and take corrective measures. Somehow I suspect that Renard is telling the truth,.

  14. The proper way of going about this issue is to set up a Commission of Inquiry to find out why Zambia Airways was allowed to shut down. If the country had a national airline, we wouldn’t have to fly in these tubes of superglue to our matches.

Can we also ensure that Evaristo Kasunga and Teddy Mulonga exculpate themselves for Saturday’s poor showing!!! We the soccer fans are upset about blah blah blah

  15. Football results are public and hence discussed in the media. Renard, as coach and head of the team ,is expected to respond to all the negative comments by supporters. He just has to exonerate himself from such an unexpected embarrasing result. Kambwili shud just keep quiet if he has no meaningful contribution to the analysis of Zambia’s shoking defeat at the hands a war ravaged population. You cant expect miracles from players with the kind of transport arrangements that this same Kambwili and his tribesman Kalusha Bwalya had subjected the African champions to, arriving at the play ground a few hours before kick off time !!!!!!! Shame Kaponya Minister.

  16. Ba Renard why accuse director of sport Bernard Nakacinda and not your technical team?? If you had won and then made these accusations we cold have understood..A professional coach (manager) should take responsibility.

  17. Kambwili is getting the same treatment he has been giving other people.  Since becoming Minister he has been harassing companies on the Cbelt, turning up unexpectedly with media vuvuzelas in tow and blasting company managers in public.  Now he cannot even manage the single expatriate he has in his ministry – after his ministry was drastically trimmed from Labour and Youth, to just Ministry of Sport (or whatever). Kambwili’s personal indiscipline and arrogance is now reflecting on him.

  18. Talking about discussing issues in puplic………………… is this not the same ***** of a minister who invited all camera men when he went to shout at the Chinese on the Copperbelt? God forbid!

  19. WHY BLAME DIRECTOR OF SPORTS BENWA NAKACHINDA. WE SIMPLY LOST THE GAME COZ WE HAD BECOME BIG HEADED AND THOUGHT SUDAN WAS A WALKOVER. FAZ SHOULD TAKE THE BLAME COZ IF THEY CARED THEY SHOULD HAVE DISCUSSED THE MATTER WITH GRZ WELL IN ADVANCE. KAMBWILI IS RIGHT. THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO CALL EACH OTHER NAMES LETS STRATEGISE HOW WE ARE GOING TO BEAT GHANA. THERE WAS NO ATTENTION BEING PAID TO THE SUDAN GAME BUT GHANA. TO ZAMBIA SUDAN WAS ALREADY BEATEN 4-1. LETS RESPECT OUR OPPONETS NO MATTER HOW WEAK THEY MAY APPEAR ON PAPER.

  20. don’t say that zambia underrated Sudan. It was not just our day. let us pray 4 the boys we must beat Ghana

  21. KAMBWILI DONT SCARE OUT COACH IWE, HIS COMPLAINTS A ALRIGHT. EVEN JUST TRAVELLING FROM COPPERBELT TO LUSAKA ITS VERY TIRESOME, THEY COULD HAVE ARRIVED 3 – 2 DAYS BEFORE THE GAME NOT HOURS.
JUST ACCEPT POOR ADMINISTRATION FROM YOU & FAZ!!!!

  22. The coach is right. We could have gone earlier to Sudan. In fact they could have camped in a country closer to Sudan. The whether in South Africa is very cold right now compared to that of Sudan. Chris and chamanga only had two training sessions with the team. One in SA and the other in Sudan. They were also jet lagged. We need to be very professional in football if we are to be called champion material. We should also have not used “public transport”

  23. why should you threaten Renard..he’s right..some of those kaponyas in those positions are time wasters..take heart and discuss properly or else bp izakwela ba chsimba..haha

  24. Oh please Kamwili shut up!!! ” discussing my staff in the press…” Why? Because your inefficiency has been exposed? Where Renard comes from, teams don’t fly to a match less than 24 hours before kick off. There is something called “jet lag.” plus, Sudan is a desert.  Six months ago, Renard was a hero today you want to call him a failure? Typical case of a bad carpenter blaming his tools. Somebody should take stick for this loss.

  25. What’s bluffing is you gullible “Kalu bootlicking” bloggers who are surprised that we lost, this is not rock science!!!

  26. Can the PF govt create a Ministry for Kaponyas and Job Creation and transfer Kambwili to the new Ministry so that he can fully utilize his untapped childish talent of ever blowing his trumpet in an un-controlled and un-coordinated manner, since the PF are always creating this and that ministry and district. We will support the motion in parliament as opposition MPs.

  27. i think the coach is getting ready to resign..come on guys..this chap is talking of being professional?..what professionalism? he was in angola giving interviews there on how he wants to go back and finish what he started and yet he was with zambia..how encouraging is that to his employers..maybe thats y the sports ministry did the dirty on them all, players coming late..everything was dodge. renard is not stupid, he knows angola oil can pay better wages, he can’t afford to lose another game..so he can quit before ghana match especially that angola is equally hanging by the thread like zambia. angolans think renard won the cup for zambia..hell no..neighbours..it was zambian talent and hard work the boys put in during qualifiers and at the finals. Dario Bonet also deserves a medal.

  28. Iam against this thing of using RSA as our base, how about taking of from Zambia to play whoever like all the Zambian teams of the past, its a sheer waste of money.

  29. HERVE RENARD IS JUST A JOKER WITH LITTLE COACHING POWER THEN HE WANTS TO MISBEHAVE.HE USED FAKE FORMATION AND SOME WRONG PLAYERS IN SOME WRONG POSITIONS.

  30. 5 REASONS WHY ZAMBIA LOST… (1) Arriving hardly 24hrs before the match afters spending more than 6hrs of flight plus connection time = TIRED (2) No time for Acclimatization (players needed some time to even play on the field before the match) (3) Practicing in wrong enviroment. Camping in Pretoria with temperatures of below 5 degrees when Khartoum night temperatures were above 30 degrees (4) Playing wrong formation (5:4:1) instead of 4;4;2 that we know best and delivered results (5) Over-confidence by the players. From now onwards ignore the fact that you are champions and die a little for the World Cup!!

    • Spot on…i’m afraid RSA will always be their base as king kalu can do his deals undercover down there!

  31. faz wth their great kalu hasnt told us hw they used the afcon prize money & who said grz is suposed to do donkey work 4kalu whlst he is busy on supersport?faz & crew to blame.renard cn go if he wants period

  32. This guy Herve is big headed, if FAZ is not careful, Zambia will not qualify. Watch this space.

  33. Hahahaha , i cant stop laughing , so it is with this attitude that we expect to beat mighty Ghana ? oooo , we beat them at afcon becos of luck and i dont expect the same luck to be with us this saturday . Ghana 5 Zambia 0

  34. Preparation always makes prefect…i don’t just blog for the fan of it…. i love our national team, want ’em to do better but its just we have appalling football administers who are bleeding us dry…what does a former footballer know about football management.
    Wake up!!!

  35. The buck (or is it ball) stops at the Minister’s feet, that is why he wants to do a donchi kubeba.

  36. What did Kambwili expect Renard to say when journalists confronted him with questions why Zambia lost? “No comment?” Come on be serious! In football you have to spend money in order to win anything. If GRZ or FAZ do not have the money to run football in Zambia then forget about football, disband the team and watch what the Zambian citizens will do to you for denying them their most loved sport!

  37. Kavumba Mutunga

FAZ won $2million from AFCON if they were enterprising that would have been £2.5million by now…when are you peeps going to wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. The team manager is supposed to arrange all travels bring in the old one back looks like the one that’s there is there coz of politics

  39. Not long ago we were all in love with coach Renard. After just one loss some of us would rather see him fired. C’mon.
What is wrong here is the level of Government involvement; why not give the money to FAZ who I think are in a good position to decide travels for the national team?
I’m still on the AFCON high so I’m not going to jump on the coach for losing the game. But if they keep losing LT bloggers are going to swear the coach is Bemba.

  40. Cooled down everybody! We are still in contention for Brazil 2014. Ba Ghana will stumble along the way. Go Zambia! It’s a Gooooooooaall!!! Iyee, Chipoloplo!

  41. ‘What goes up must come down’, but for real champions ‘what goes down must bounce back’, the only way ifipolopolo can prove they are champions is to taste defeat and rise up from the ashes of disaster. I would like to see a situation were zambia loses the Ghana match but rise up from the loses, win in Ghana and all the remaining matches and qualify to the world cup in Brazil, that would be a taste of their quality.

  42. We wont win against Ghana watch it. Ghana will score us… Heve is too known he insult the boys. This is the case of white man looking down on blacks.

  43. most zambians like blame game which has failed us. as the say goes “if you are a proffessional in blame game then you are an amateur in the life of success”. its high time that we should learn to take responsibility of our live.for how long are we going to be pointing fingers on each other and misses the world cup. because this has happen again and again in all the world cup qualifying game. how come other teams are qualifying even us we should qualify inspite of the challenges.let us stand above challenges to become victors and not victims.blame game has not taken us any where
