K7 billion remains uncollected at NAPSA

Share

The National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) said over K7 billion in workers benefits has remained un-collected for years at the institution.

NAPSA Director Charles Mpundu said the institution has over 1000 unclaimed benefits which have accrued over the years but that people are not coming forth to claim their monies.

Mr Mpundu disclosed this at the Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola yesterday when Information Broadcasting and Labour Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga toured the stand.

He has since urged people who have not claimed their benefits to come forward and claim their money from the institution.

He explained that people can also file in their claims through the NAPSA centers located in various parts of the country.

Mr Mpundu has meanwhile explained that it is only NAPSA members that can claim the benefit adding that those that subscribes with other pension schemes are not eligible to make any claim.

Meanwhile Information, Broadcasting and Labour Permanent Secretary, Amos Malupenga, has noted that NAPSA has made headways in improving service delivery to its clients.

Mr Malupenga who also toured the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board was particularly impressed that the institution was providing services that meet the emotional need of its clients.

He has however urged the institutions to do more sensitization of their services for the public to understand the services they were offering.

  1. All NAPSA needs to do is publish the list of unclaimed monies. Perhaps a few people can identify their relatives.

  2. How true is this?? i agree with #1 publish the names. A lot of people complain the you always delay payments (telling them to come next week or month) up to years in some cases and now you come up with such a story

  3. this is another diarrhoea of “no plans”. Publish the names. I am sure most of them have died without enjoying their benefits.

  4. Ikalenifye imwe ba NAPSA.in 1998 you called my Grandfather to come and collect his money in Ndola, suprising enough he received a cheque of K1000 (one pin) and he was Kasama.please don’t fool people.

  5. It seems NAPSA, uses delaying tactics so that in the course people die and leave their money, who can agree with me? Publish the list of names if you are genuine !!!

  6. It seems NAPSA uses delaying tactics so that in the course people die and leave their money, who can agree with me? Publish the list of names if you are genuine !!!

  7. Publish the Names,NRC No., Name & NRC of the registered beneficiary, Company where the member worked.
Be professional and its not good only to review that important issue at the Trade fair whilst people are suffering and that little amount can pay for extra lessons for School children.

  8. Is it true that Napsa does not give lump sum, but only gives a small ‘monthly’ pension when you retire? If so then its difficult 2 plan for your pension. You can die a destitute, when someone has actually been holding on to, and using your money in profitable ventures like Levy Juction. Please somebody shed more light on this!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Surprising the inefficiency at NAPSA is appalling!! Al they need to do call and contact the beneficiaries!! This nonsense of waiting for customers to come and get their benefits must stop immediately coz thats why we leave contact details!!The easiest way is to publish the names!!!

  10. You are surprised and yet you made them queue outside your office till they died! Continue enjoying their money.

  11. Through my experience at Napsa, I will attempt to shade more light on some of the issues highlighted, the starting point is not to confusion Napsa with Pensions Board. The other thing that you need to note is that Napsa administer two kinds of benefits, those claimed under NPF and those under Napsa regulations. One of the inefficiencies of NPF was that the contributions were not indexed as result despite adding interest; the contributions had lost the purchasing power. As one mentioned that his relative received a 1000pin, it is what you put in plus interest and when one is completing the claim form they have the option to pick where he/she want to collect the money from and people are encouraged to collect from the closest town, for instance there is an office in Kasama why would one want

  12. to collect from Ndola. The years I worked at Napsa we never had cases pending for years and I expect them to be better now, there are various reasons some cases dragged for months, I will give you an example, if a person come to claim retirement benefit when I check his information, find that a survivor’s benefit has already been processed, so the person retirement benefit will be delayed because there will be some investigations, you will be surprised at the number of people with duplicate NRCs
Under Napsa you can get a monthly pension if you qualify that is, if you have made a minimum number of contributions (which I believe is 60 contributions) if one does not qualify they get a lump sum. The monthly pension will be adjusted yearly

  13. do Napsa employees benefit from the monies collected? Why has NAPSA dispensed with housing loans for it employees?I have an uncle who works for NAPSA,he is struggling to build a house and yet his employer are claiming to have collected a lot of contributions.Napsa should look into this issue.
