Kalaba & Co Fail in Cairo

Share

Zambia’s TP Mazembe quartet on Sunday night failed to save the DR Congo giants from a CAF Champions League loss away to Al Ahly of Egypt.

Mazembe lost 2-1 away behind closed doors in Cairo to Al Ahly in the two sides opening Group A match.

Given Singuluma, Stophilla Sunzu and Rainford Kalaba and Luka Lungu all started for Mazembe.

The biggest disappointment was a poor performance from midfielder Rainford Kalaba whose best effort was a 71st minute long range effort that went rising and out of play before he was substituted in the 86th minute.

Earlier striker Luka Lungu failed to spark and was replaced midway through the second half by Tanzanian striker Mbwana Samatta.

Four minutes from time Samatta headed in Mazembe’s goal lone goal before Al Ahly scored the winner four minutes into time added after 90 minutes of action.

  1. The begining of the falling down of AFCON Champions, we told you zambians are not consistent, it even starts from their leaders, full of promises but no action.

    • But you have got issues my dear countryman.Politics may be the engine of almost all global activities but try loosen up.we all feel the pain of seeing an underdeveloped zambia, that pain is equally felt by the head of state and his goverment.we all want what is best for zambia.

    • Akulu Mphuno, you have a lot of problems. No wonder you are were you are. Try to appreciate some things in life. Stay with your consistency in negativity. WE will believe and have faith that things will one day improve. You did not even watch the match you are basing your negativity on this piece of writing from LT who we are not sure if they did a good job of reporting. All the best in your negativity.

  2. scary that Kalaba is diminishing so fast, even against Sudan & Ghana he was no where. its time for that boy from Power Dynamos.

  3. Football is not something u just talk about but work on the field. Sometimes even the best team loses. It’s normal for a player to have a bad game at times but it’s wrong to single out one player from 11

  4. I am certain Mazembe will avenge their defeat in Lubumbashi. They are a great team and will rise to the occasion in Congo.

  5. Yes iwe akulu mphuno, who did you tel,
Whats kalaba’s falure to peform at TP Mazembe got to do with the Afcon champions,
Thats very useless talk, its better to keep quiet if you can not contribute anything constructive, Zambians not consistent kwisa, you the one who is inconsistent coz if you were you would have lernt to shut you mouth….

  6. The 1-2 loss is a setup back most especially that this is a league format, I hope Mazembe will win all their remaining games to progress to the quarter finals.

  7. Lets not put off our boys. In sport some times you are at your best and at times not.Lets encourage the boys to improve where need be. Kalaba was very instrumental in winning AFCON Cup to Zambia. We all know that teams from North Africa have proved to be night meres for Southern & Eastern African countries (teams).
