A showdown is looming in Western province between the Barotse Freedom Movement, the Linyunga Ndambo and police over a permit to hold a peaceful demonstration.

The Barotse Freedom Movement and Linyunga Ndambo have vowed to go ahead with the demonstration set for this Wednesday 25th July 2012 despite the police refusal to grant them a permit.

The demonstration is meant to express displeasure over President sata’s recent remarks against Litunga.

The police in the area have declined to give a permit citing security reasons.

Western Province Police commissioner, Fanwell Siandenge has told MUVI TV news in a telephone interview that a permit has not been approved as some people may take advantage of the demonstration to cause confusion.

He said that such a situation may endanger people’s lives and Government property.

Mr. Siandenge said that leaders of the two groupings have been informed and warned against going ahead with the demonstration.

  4. so this pf gvt hav failed 2 sort out this problem.u guys dont worry jst take yo time 2016 is near.viva ….

  5. Africans! We urgently need a generational overhaul. The world is stuck with rhetoric wielding, language-abiding lunatics!

  6. Police can be only informed. The people have a God given right to express their displeasure to the going ons in the once great, but noiw failed state of Zed.

  7. I thought Barotseland was a country. which government did they apply a permit from, Zambian led by Mikaili or Barotse led Sinyinda?

  8. Give them the permit to demonstrate and if they disturb the peace and destroy property, then let the law take its course.
The message that needs to driven into the heads of the Lozi people is that secession will never be tolerated but that devolution of power through decentralization as intended in the new constitution will surely take development not only to western Province but to all corners of the country.

  9. Just let them demostrate and if they misbehave whip them badly. What Sata said was correct, Litunga is as same as other paramount chieves in Zambia, tell me is that an insult?? we want proper demostrations not this useless one. But give them the permit so that they are shamed…

  10. owez i noted that the police they are as foolish like the pigs, they are just humans coz of the head on top of their bodies but in terms of thinking, it inst there. Why cant get their views u foolish comanding of fools

    • No recourse to insults. Just think properly. Some of happenings can be avoided and peaciful means promoted. What would you gain in demonstrations which may result in unnecessary loss of lives and property? You are free to demonstrate but timing is crucial. You don’t demonstrate peacifully when tempers are high, its like putting petro onto fire. Calm down and think over it with a cool head!

  11. What maybe an insult in Bemba might not be an insult in lozi.Let us understand each other on this point,we have a chronic verbal diarrhoe sufferer as a president,we admit.Let us not take our hearts and souls out on everything this man says,he is a sickling. Let us be patient like Rt Hon Dr. Scot who has been ridiculed and insulted in public in the name of jocking,Ukwa has no manners,we have made a mistake to put him in a position where he should not have been and it’s us the Zambia people to undo it. Let’s prepare for 2016 to put him away.

  12. If you respect your leader so much, why do you constantly put him in compromising situations. Sata commented on allegations that he wants to reduce the power of the Litunga. The only thing he said was litunga is just like any of the other four paramount Chiefs in Zambia. I do agree with his statement. He said he cannot make laws just so as to punish one citizen or chief. This is also true and I agree. If you want Litunga to reign in peace, stop making calls and issues about western province so as to bring the name of Litunga to disrepute. Lozi’s are to blame. Sokota Wina and Sinyinda are to blame. They hold unfruitful meetings and publish their rubbish using the rubbush watchdog with uneducated reporters. Shame on you all. Leave Litunga alone, you Lozi’s. Let your King reign in peace.

  13. But how many times are people going to know that a permission or approval by the police is not required in this country in order for anyone to hold a peaceful demonstration? The police only need to be notified in time for them to mobilise manpower enough to provide crowd control and protection of both the demonstrators and other bystanders. When the police indicate failure to provide the necessary resourses required, it then behoves the requisitioners to make own arrangements. Somebody should pump sense into those inept police officers to avoid brewing storms in cups of tea!

  14. God bless every Zambian and grant peace to all, even to ‘prodico’ sons and daughters. We need all to develop. Even the bitter ones we need them, thats their contribution. If all was quite we would think there is absolute peace, when in fact there is underdevelopment everywhere you look in the country.  Let the bitter voices give leadership the voice of reason. Creativity of our leadership is in taking into account pressing issues but not forgetting the many other areas. Thats leadership, thats management. Nothing of the sort will split Zambia. It will remain Zambia forever otherwise its delutional, someone might be seeing some mirage of Zambia being two countries. Lead an inclusive Zambia and the babies will go to sleep while we let the sleeping dogs lie.

    • If what… dictatorship can be ones perception. Sometimes people create their own problems and live their lives with such problems. Elders are telling you to be careful but you end up with AIDS and suffer for 5 years in excluciating pain untill death. Deadly perceiption of dictatorship. You though elders were dictating you, well there you go. A newly qualified driver is advised to drive slowly, but for him thats dictatorship. and their he drives 120KM per hour and then bang! Two legs off and after healing he says I went against advise. Wll wrong thing can happen with wrong perception.

  15. Dictatorship can be due to ones wrong perceptions. Sometimes people create their own problems and live their lives with such problems. Elders are telling you to be careful but you end up with AIDS and suffer for 5 years in excluciating pain untill death. Deadly perception of dictatorship, you thought elders were dictating to you, well there you go. A newly qualified driver is advised to drive slowly, but for him thats dictatorship. and their he drives 120KM per hour and then bang! Two legs off and after healing he says I went against advise. Well, tough. wrong thing can happen with wrong perception.

  16. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT SATA AND PF MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE BY LETTING LOOSE THOSE WHO COMMITTED CRIMES IN THE PREVIOUS GVT ALL IN THE NAME OF SHOWING THE WEST THAT ZAMBIA IS DEMOCRATIC. THE FIRST THINGS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE DONE. REMOVE RB’s IMMUNITY AND PROSECUTE HIM, HIS SONS AND OTHERS WHO RAPED ZAMBIA’s ECONOMY WITHOUT WASTING TIME AND QUICKLY TURN TO DEVELOPMENTAL ISSUES. THAT WOULD HAVE SENT AN EFFECTIVE RIGHT MESAGE EVERY ZAMBIAN AND NON ZAMBIANS ALIKE. ITS COMMON SENSE- THE CRIMINALS WHO CURRENTLY RUNNING LOOSE ARE THE ONES SPONSORING UNNECESSARY ANARCH AND REBELIONS. AS LONG AS THESE UN CONVICTED CRIMINALS (RB AND GROUP) ARE STILL LOOSE THE GOVT WILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA OR SIMPLY FAIL. PLS REMOVE RB’s IMMUNITY AND PROSECUTE HIM TOGETHER WITH OTHER ‘RAPERS’.

  17. Siandenge is primitive, barbarric, dull and ignorant. He should know that one day things will change and he will be in shit.

  18. These people need to be taught a lesson before they grow wings. they can destabilize the peace of the nation. what exactly do they want? what sort of human beings are these, who are so selfish and unpatriotic? Litunga is a paramount chief of the lozi people, lozi people are over the country, married, having children and maybe even happily so, so are the rest of Zambian tribes. To bind the many tribes of Zambia together took a long time, and Litunga is attempting to destroy all that out of selfishness and greedy. Such people do not deserve respect or reverence of a deserving chief. There hearts cry for blood, their minds are full evil plots. To them, so long their appetite for power and recognition are met, it does not matter the souls lost in the process. Thats odd of a chief

  19. Another build up to something worse. Peaceful demonstration ismwhatmwemwantedmto do on the 14 the January 2011, but our colonizers and their insecure defence wings could not allow us.
Today, there is a build up of something worse in mongu, but this time, no barotse will throw a stone.
We are using our brains. GRZ you have been rejected in barotseland. You are a wicked, lying and corrupt step father. We do not want you.
Do you have to use the gun and force to make love to our mother who finally accepted your divorce after 48 years you yourself effected it?
Are there no wise people in Zambia?

  20. Don’t be cowards, these are just ordinary civillians who want to express their views, allow them. Don’t create unnecessary tension police officer, show leadership, afterall you have been in that kingdom long enough to understand the people.

  21. Well done ZP, let us not entertain a culture of lawlessness. What the president said about the Litunga were true facts. The demonstrators have too much time on their hands, if the can be demonstrating during a week day, when do they get to do some work?

This culture of demos is not productive especially if the cause is based on ignorance. This is the reason Western Province remains underdeveloped because others within the Province think they are special than others within the same province.

It is high time that Western Province is divided.

This is the right time to create Kafue Province because Litunga and his relatives are holding back the development of the province with their outdated and backward politics.

Things can not carry on like this.
