Lusaka to be among the cities to be serviced by new Ethiopian Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane

Share

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that Lusaka is among its major routes for its newly acquired Boeing 787 Dream liner plane.

Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia Francis Simenda has hailed Ethiopian Airlines for choosing Lusaka as one of the flight destinations.

Mr Simenda says the airline’s decision shows the growing bilateral relations between Zambia and that country.

He was speaking in Addis Ababa on arrival from a maiden flight which Ethiopian airlines organized for Ambassadors, Ministers and the media to Mouth Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Ethiopian Airlines is the first airline in Africa to own the Dream liner which is considered the worlds most advanced commercial airplane seating up to 300 passengers.

Mr Simenda has also commended the Ethiopian airlines for selecting Zambia as its third regional hub on the continent.

He says Lusaka will become a connecting point to the region and bring economic benefits to the country.

Ethiopian airlines has regional hubs in Addis Ababa and Lome in Togo.

  1. This is good but I only wish we had an airport…… RB had organized a Turkish company to build us a morden airport but CNP spoiled everything.

    • Spot on.We badly need a moderm airport.I understand that the NAC has issued tenders for companies to renovate our airports.

  2. Nunua ndege zenu wazambia wacha kungoja nchi zingine.Eish, ujinga mtupu na hakuna maendeleo ya usafiri, shirika la ndege wala viwanja vya kisasa zambia.

    • Ala mudala, simple translation: “Lu pili” i.e. “Mountain!”
Mouth, mouth, imwe fyonse fye, fya pa kanwa!! (Mouth!)

  3. #1, ULI CISUSHI SANA. RB WAS CREATING A LOOP HOLE FOR STEALING MORE. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED- BEING ROBBED? LET THE AIRPORT COME FREE OF STEALING STRINGS.

  4. Always commending foreign owned businesses why cant you own your own or even plan to do so Why should Zambian citizens depend on foreiners to travel to their motherland/How richer is Ethiopia compared to Zambia?SHAME

  5. Crucial to Africa’s economic development is its infrastructure, particularly its transport network. And with the potential boon of tourism, African nations must and need to make sure they have top quality airports to attract and deal with large numbers of visitors. Airlines are queuing up to fly into KK airport; this should be like a red cloth to a bull… the gov’t should strive to make the Lusaka airport the hub of the region so as to encourage transit flyers to spend their dollars or else will continue to be merely a quick bus stop. Of the top 10 biggest Airports in Africa, ours doesn’t even appear on the list despite our centrality …shocking!

  7. Even Ethiopia is better than Zambia? were is the bemba pride? Ati muleteka, a poor country kekekekekekee. Bemba can rule Zambia forever, but the country will always be poor ( a laughing stock of other countries). Ati Sata man of action…kekekekekekekekeeeeeeeee.

  8. Our airport is pathetic and an embarrassment not only to Zambia but to the region as well. I always wonder if there is anyone in government with even just 2% of brains to realize that we need a modern airport in Lusaka and Livingstone. KK was the same, FTZ was the same, LPM was the same, RB was the same (only thought about it towards the end, like formula one roads) now MCS has a chance to prove that presidents think.

    • I know about that contract but it was cancelled because as usual it looked suspicious. By the way, how many years was the Turkish company going to manage the airport?

  9. This is an EXAMPLE of a REAL PATRIOTIC NATION!! Through all the strife, they have still maintained a national airline which is punching above its weight!!! Whilst pa Zed, bu ka bwalala full time!! Hence the praises for everything foreign!!! All those people that stael from the national treasury, YOU WILL LEAVE THIS COUNTRY SO POOR YOUR KIDS & GRAND-KIDS will need to ride cows, becoz even 4×4 vehicles will be unable to traverse our so called roads! The country will be so poor as not to afford the basics of daily living!!!

  10. Zambezi airline is better than this dreamliner, in zambezi airline one can get a pure bed to sleep on, also VIP is self contained foe every passenger (vip) then their is table tennis, near the fuselage, one can play and take a shower. The presidential challenger for sata has similar facilities

  11. OKAY BUT IMPROVE SERVICE EFFICIENCIENCY BY IMMIGRATION AT THE AIRPORTS. WHY SHOULD VISITORS AND RETURNING NATIONS SPEND SO MUCH TIME TO BE CLEARED?. LEARN FROM KENYA OR SOUTH AFRICA WHERE IT ONLY TAKES A MAXIMUM OF 3-4 MINUTES TO GET CLEARED AND THAT IS WHY THEIR TOURISM INDUSTRIES ARE DOING BETTER THAN ZAMBIA. BUSINESS CONSIDERATIONS SHOULD TAKE MORE PROMINANCE IN OUR WAY OF DOING THINGS. CAN WE ALSO GET A BETTER AIRPORT TERMINAL THAN THAT ”CHICKEN RUN BUILDING” AT KK INT, ZAMBIA IS NOT A SMALL COUNTRY WITHOUT RESOURCES. IMPRESSIONS ABOUT A PLACE A MADE AT THE POINT OF ENTRY.

  12. I DONT C ANY REASON WHY WE ARE CELEBRATING FOR RECIEVING SUCH AN AIRLINER…WE HAVE ZAMBIA OUR COUNTRY WHICH IS MUST HAVE A NATIONAL AIRLINE AND A PROPER AIRPORT…COME ON PF THATS WHAT WILL MAKE US TO BE PROUD ZAMBIANS….HOPE SOMETHING WILL BE DONE IN THOSE LINES…..ALUTA CONTINUA!

  13. Can Zambia honestly run and maintain a national airline and an international airport when they are failing to cleanup the so called city of Lusaka. We hear the alleys and back streets are covered with body waste and the stench is unbearable. The problem in Zambia is the failure to maintain and look after infrastructure. I do not want to compare Zambia with Botswana lest I am misunderstood.

  14. Needed to send you the bit of note to say thanks a lot once again for those remarkable tactics you have featured on this website. This is certainly particularly generous of people like you to give unreservedly what many people would’ve advertised as an electronic book to help with making some cash for their own end, mostly now that you could possibly have done it in the event you wanted. The concepts likewise worked like a fantastic way to know that some people have the identical fervor the same as my very own to realize much more around this condition. I am certain there are millions of more fun occasions in the future for many who view your website.
