The Football Association of Zambia is hoping Emmanuel Mbola will be released by FC Porto for Under-20 duty while Herve Renard will be in full charge for the teams’ trip to Mali.

Mbola has been drafted into the Under-20 team to shore-up its leaky defence after shipping in two goals against Mali to finish 2-2 in the first leg on September 22 of their 2013 African Youth Championship qualifier.

“Yes, he will be available if the club releases him in time,” Faz spokesperson Erick Mwanza said.
“He’s been called together with Moses Siansumo of TP (Mazembe) who has already joined the team.”

Zambia were pegged back twice by Mali, that saw the latter also benefit from a first half own goal before recording a valuable draw.

And Mwanza said Renard will take full charge of the team for the return leg match in Bamako on October 6.

“Herve Renard will take charge and travel with the team to Bamako,” Mwanza said.

Mwanza said Renard and his assistant Patrice Beaumelle will fly to Johannesburg after the qualifier to start training camp for Zambia’s 2013 Africa Cup qualifier away to Uganda.

  1. I hope Renards taking charge of U20 will not affect the National teams preps against Uganda.
i hope not i hope not i hope not

  2. This guy we where told was was 17 fours years ago. He was supposed to join Tottenham. And now he is still under 20 ???? What a joke.

  3. Mbola will make the Zambian team to be disqualified. FAZ should take this issue seriously and come to the bottom of Mbola’s real age. Mbola’s physical appearance does not look like he is an under 20.

  4. Emmanuel Mbola, is a Zambian international footballer who plays for Porto on loan from TP Mazembe. He is a left-footed, and plays on a position of left-back. Wikipedia
    Born: May 10, 1993 (age 19), Kabwe
    Height: 1.75 m
    Position: Defender
Teams: TP Mazembe (Defender), Futebol Clube do Porto (#23 / Defender), Zambia national football team (#2 / Defender)

  5. Mbola began his career 2007 with Zambian club Mining Rangers and in 2008 joined another Zambian club Zanaco. In January 2009 he was scouted by Armenian club Pyunik Yerevan and joined them.[2] He became the first Zambian to feature in the Uefa Champions League, representing his new club in a 0–0 draw v Dinamo Zagreb on 14 July 2009.[3]
Although linked in February 2010 with a move to English club Tottenham Hotspur[4] and having been on trial at Arsenal in autumn 2010[5] he was involved in an ongoing transfer saga over his move to Pyunik Yerevan and a subsequent move to a Congolese club, TP Mazembe

  6. This was resolved in September 2010 when FIFA ruled that the Armenian club had been wrong in arranging for Mbola sign a professional contract when he was an underage, which resulted FIFA is canceling the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) held by the Armenian club.[7] This ruling meant that Mbola could officially join TP Mazembe.
He signed a one year loan deal with Portuguese side Porto in February 2012. He is also a member of Zambian national team, having participated in 26 international matches since his debut in 2008 and is considered as one of the most promising talents in Zambian and African football.[9] Mbola is the second youngest player that has played a match in the Africa Cup of Nations.

  7. This team is not for H. RENA.If things go bad in mali dont start braming him coz u hav given him at a wrong time.KEEGAN was just ok,finshi fyalubanapo? Na ena alibasendesha COSAFA under twenty just like AFCON kuli H.R. Kanshi ba KEEGA bapeni ba senior bachinjane na H.RENA.

  8. Age-wise Mbola and Siasumo are okey but why do we always seem to be reacting instead taking the initiative? We knew we needed them especialy Siasumo who was an intergro member of the cosafa winning team, and what happens to KEEGAN does he now get relageted to the U-17 squad

  9. Am an ardent soccer fan and i have tried at least to watch most of the games Zambia has played in the recent past from the mini Cosafa tournament is Zimbabwe and Namibia. Am saying this because i want to show some people who may want to reply this. Lets avoid being disqualified from the ongoing games we are participating in by NOT INCLUDING MBOLA, i beg. He is on record him self that he completed school in 2006. I may not be good in Maths but let some one else compute for us Zambian how old this boy was when he completed school. I rest my case

  10. Yes Mbola, Milanzi and Douglas Chiwaya need to beef up this squad. KK would have joined had he not been sick and also the pain of losing the wife will definitely rule him out of this crucial tie. Lets go Tupolopolo lets gooooo… U can do it boys though u will be panicking…. Looooooooooooooooooleeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssstttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Age cheating…these are the kind of players who retire from playing football officially at 35 or 37 but a few years later die of old age!! ke ke ke ke ke ke….if you know what I mean!!!

  12. It all goes back to one point i raised. There is NO local coach who can drill any national side be it at U 17, U 20, U 23 or ideed the national side. Keagan faile to read the gameas he should have substituted Salulani Banda (jersey 15) in the first half, something Herve Renard (the fox) can not hesitate to do if u arent ticking. I believe Herve Renard will do something meaningfull. Keagan should actually be fired!!!
