Super Division Preview: Zesco Seek Vital 3 Points at Eagles

Share

Zesco United on Saturdays hope to get a win at one of the Faz Super Division’s most difficult away locations.

The three-time champions’ visit 12th placed Green Eagles in Choma who have lost just three matches of their last 10 home games this season.

Only Power Dynamos, Nakambala Leopards and Napsa Stars all came away with the three points in Choma where Eagles have won three and drawn five of their home games this season.

Second placed Zesco desperately need to stay in touch with leaders Zanaco with seven matches to go heading into this weekend’s Week 25 games as the title race heats up.

Five points separate Zanaco and Zesco who are on 48 and 43 points respectively from 23 matches played.

And Zesco coach Wedson Nyirenda will be banking on striker Jackson Mwanza who despite being on a healthy nine goals, has not scored since July 21 in a 3-2 away win at Napsa Stars.

However, the recent return of striker Lottie Phiri who scored in his first match back in a 1-0 Barclays Cup quarterfinal win over Konkola Blades on September 15 should give Zesco some optimism on Saturday.

Zesco and Eagles first leg meeting ended on May 23 saw Nyirenda’s side win 2-1 in Ndola.

Meanwhile in the rest of this weekend’s Week 25 fixtures, Zanaco visit Konkola Mine Police in Chililabombwe while defending champions Power Dynamos await Konkola Blades at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Nchanga Rangers host Roan United at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola and Green Buffaloes visit Forest Rangers at Dola Hill in Ndola.

14th placed Nakambala Leopards are in Ndola to face 15th positioned Indeni in a relegation dogfight.

And at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka, Nkana visit National Assembly in our featured match of the day.

Across town in the capital on Sunday,Napsa Stars visit Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka just two weeks after the former beat the latter 1-0 in the Barclays Cup quarterfinals in Kitwe.
