The Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association has expressed worry over the possibility of Zambia playmaker Chisamba Lungu being left out in tomorrow’s encounter against Nigeria due to an injury.
Association Chairperson, Yotam Mwanza, said it is sad that Lungu, who came on the scene last year and has exhibited massive talent as a focal point of the team has to miss the crucial match.
Mwanza hoped for a speedy recovery for Lungu who is a volatile player as he is team mid fielder and also plays striker and an asset to the Chipolopolo stars.
He expressed confidence in Chipolopolo coach, Herve Renard, whom he said would come up with a suitable replacement as medical experts have ruled out Lungu’s participation in this Friday’s tournament.
Mwanza also predicted a 2-0 score in favour of Zambia, the defending champions, in tomorrow’s encounter against Nigeria.
He appealed to the Chipolopolo boys to apply themselves fully in tomorrow’s game and urged soccer fans to rally behind the team and offer the needed moral support.
Lungu suffered a bruised left bone in Chipolopolo’s 1-1 draw against Ethiopia on Monday and sat out training on Wednesday.
The Chipolopolo medical team advised the technical staff to rest Lungu following their assessment of the player.
Zambia will take on Nigeria tomorrow, marking their second game in the tournament.

You know why the Ethiopian turnout was so high? They are all traders who can live their post whenever. Most Zambians in SA work.

HR took 23 players and therefore no one shud b worried about Lungu’s possible absence. I am more worried about HR’s tactics than the absence of Lungu. In a nutshell this gives HR the chance 2 start with 2 strikers in Mbesuma and Mayuka/other and drop Chris on the right flank! Game On
the last time i questioned his tactical know how, i was called an arm chair critic.
but from what i see in most games, the guy is more of a physical coach than a tactician.
nigerians are scared of zambia. read comments from their sites . their hope is a draw , they are depending on mikel but they are aware of what happened to drogba when sunzu put him is his pocket at the last finals. sunzu, they say, has matured so much that he cant hundle two very good strikers at a time. wondered why the ethiopians scored though.

Injuries are part of all contact sports such as football and can happen to any player any time. So why worry unless it is a one-man-team. A good coach should always prepare for such.
