A Taxi driver in Chililabombwe has been shot dead in yet another grisly murder of a public service vehicle driver.The assailants went away with his Toyota Corolla as fear gripped other operators in the border town and surrounding areas.
Maybin Bwalya, 32, of Plot Number 3738 Kakoso Township, was killed in cold blood and dumped a few metres from his house in the early hours of yesterday.
He last spoke to his wife around 22:00 on Saturday as he went about his business in his green Toyota Corolla taxi that he used to operate at night.
Police sources said Mr Bwalya, who was an employee of Railcon operated the taxi during the night.
He was shot in the left side of the chest and his body was discovered in the morning. Police struggled to keep people who wanted to have a glimpse of the body at bay.
Lusaka, Kabwe and Kapiri Mposhi are other towns in the country where taxi drivers have been targets of shocking murders suspected to be ritual.
Mathews Chipili, 20, was murdered in bizarre circumstances, as his killers gouged out his eye, and pulled out his tongue and throat before dumping the body in Lusaka’s Roma Township.
Joseph Simfukwe, 28, was another victim, who was beheaded and had his private parts removed in a suspected ritual murder. His body was found buried in Namwala in Southern Province.
Gift Tembo is another taxi driver murdered in Kabwe in a brutal fashion as he was found with deep knife-cuts on his body. Mr Tembo, 28, was killed and his body dumped near Makombe Farm in Kabwe on the Great North Road, on December 29, last year.
In another development, two human rights consultants have allegedly killed a 40-year-old Lusaka man who was seeking to iron out marital differences with his wife at their offices.
Shadreck Shawuma of Old Kanyama Township was on separation from his wife and on the material date, he went to visit his wife who reported him to a justice and human rights office for the couple to address their marital differences.
Police spokesperson, Elizabeth Kanjela said in Lusaka yesterday that two people had since been apprehended in connection with murder, while two other suspects were still at large.The two suspects had been identified as Cosmas Kangondo, 40, of House Number 47/04 and Morgan Kakumba of House Number 49/66, both in Kanyama Township.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy of Lusaka and a 10-year-old boy of Luapula died after they drowned in separate incidences.
In Lusaka, the 15-year-old boy went swimming at the infamous Blue Water Dam in Chawama in the company of his friends and drowned in the process.
The body had not been retrieved by Press time yesterday.
In the Luapula incident, the 10-year-old drowned in Lake Mweru near the fisheries offices as he was also swimming in the company of others when he met his fate.

My condolences to o the families that have lost their beloved ones thru these stealings, killings, violent and crimes.
