MMD Solwezi Central MP Lucky Mulusa says he has so far covered 110 km of his 170 km solidarity walk from Chingola to Solwezi.

Mr Mulusa said he is confident that he will finish his walk which commenced last Friday within the planned five days.

“The reception from the people we are meeting as we are walking has been good. We are encouraged by the support we are getting from the people around Chingola and Solwezi including the traveling public, Mr Mulusa said.

“Our walk is on schedule. As at Monday mid-morning we had done 110 km and we are determined to complete the walk as planned. This is important in order to send a message to this government that people are suffering.

He also paid tribute to some people that have volunteered to walk with him on some sections of the long journey.

“As I walk, am sharing my views with the local people on the issue of removal of subsidies and am also highlighting the need to have the Chingola-Solwezi road upgraded.

    • Why were u not doing the same during your MMD in power? You have been an MP for some yrs what have u done for your people? This guy is just an attention seeker, I believe he want to stand as a presidential candidate one of these days. Just wait and see. What has walking got to do with taking development to his area. Is he fund raising? Is he not ashamed of accusing PF which is doing a lot improving our roads? shame!! Continue and let us see what you will achieve Attention seeker!

    • Iwe shetani uleicindika.ulecindika ba kateka….I thought the cheeky monkey Mulusa lives in Solwezi? Has no transport money aleicaila ati protest be careful ba mumbwe imwe ifya ku cita support.

    • So how has he known that he has covered that distance so far? Just wondering… There are no signs on our roads.

  1. PF will not even be bothered with your solidarity, i just hope that yo pipo will and as MP u gona also get to understand what yo pipo really go thru..Good lucky!!

  2. Keep on walking man.We have organized some people to give you hot water to massage the blisters on your feet.Too bad those day when we had lions in the bush are gone.

    • @Dabwiso, am confused with your chizungu, on whose side exactly are you? You encourage the man to keep walking with a promise of hot water to massage the feet, on the other hand you’re not happy the old days when they used to lions are gone.

  3. MMD was in power for 20yrs and you did not see then that people were suffering. Who was supposed to have upgraded that road. For 20yrs you just enjoyed in your airconditioned offices. Zambians have move on and will keep doing so even after the PF.

  4. We are waiting which one will be your next distance to cover after this. The only thing you will achive is weght loss. Good luck!!!!!!!

  5. is he not the MP for Solwezi Central? and he is complaining. “am also highlighting the need to have Chingola-Solwezi road upgraded” How long has he been MP?. is he telling the people of Solwezi indirectly that he has failed them? when he finishes his 170KM what next? can this walking thing work in ZED or shake the Govt?

  6. That is how it should be, Under Mwanawasa MMD did a lot for the people of NWP. All the mines were nearly started by Levy not these tribalist Sata and Chiluba. How does he promise a University and college of sciences to Muchinga People and nothing for the province contributing more to the national treasurer. GBM was in Kasama officiating tarred township roads recenlty. Can you compare these rural township roads to Chingola Solwezi road which is ferrying more copper? If this is not tribalism then what is it? We are ready to go it alone in NWP. Go Go Go Lucky……

    • Point of correction the mines were initiated by Chiluba government go check your records. That road has been like that even in the seven years of Levy. PF is still working on roads and I believe they will attend to this road. Kavindele wanted to put up a railway line Levy refused. Sata has allowed it.

    • What a comment. Check the facts. Check also projects in progress in Northwestern which are not being done in other provinces. RB, Levy did not pave the Solwezi-Chingola road and that is not tribalism to you. Now that Sata has not yet paved the road in question is tribalism to you. Why do you see your self so inferior to a Bemba? Haven’t you seen inter marriages between Bembas and North westerners? If North Westerners were inferior no Bemba would want to marry a person from that province. Bembas & North Westerners who travel on that road are subjected to the same conditions and accidents. We have feeble MPs who can not fight hard enough to get Chingola Solwezi road paved. It is a wish of everyone who travel on that road to get it paved. Some MPs are non performers. Period.

  7. Hon Mulusa is a person who wants to be seen that he cares for the poor when in fact he doesn’t care. Pretending to be caring & that it shall be well if subsidies are restored. Subsidies have never helped this country to progress. Subsidies is one of the biggest components which has made this country poor-64% of poverty level and encouraged many able people not to work hard, but just to survive. Hon Mulusa with the help of others should find ways to create wealth in this rich province rather than foolish protest over subsidies which will not solve the problem. Chingola-Solwezi road needs to be paved because of heavy traffic. These weak MPs failed to convince RB to pave the road & now are failing to convince Sata, Let MPs convince Sata to pave the Chingola-Solwezi road. Sata will listen

  8. The road was better before last year. Do not talk about something you do not know. People are dying on this road. Not only people of North western. People from Muchinga,Northern,Western,Eastern,Luapula,Copperbelt,Lusaka,Central and all races are dying. Accidents are blind to tribe, race age or religion. When a fatal accident happened, all the SDA congrants on board perished. Government officials were there at the funeral consoling morners and promising to upgrade the road in no time into a dual carriage way. Mulusa is reminding the President that tata you said this. Therefore lets together remind, picket tata on this one. Today its someone else’s child dying in a car crash on this road. Tommorrow it will your child. As a parent how will you feel? Do not stay put get up and act!!!!!!

    • Iwe please dont talk like a politician.I suggest you consult the relevant ministry to get the facts on the plan the government has on the Chingola -Solwezi road.It takes time for procument, tendering and appointing a contractor for such an important road.Upgrading the road to a dual carriage will also involve the relocation of some people who are near the road. This might require compensation and it is the same people that Mulusa is telling lies that wil be affected when the works on this road start. They will resist to move away so that the road can be made into dual carriage. Please following politicians blindly!!!

  9. Lucky has been an MP for Solwezi Central since September 2011.
All these years he was residing in RSA but routenly visited his relations in NWP and CB.
He has come on the scene a bit too late. However, his walk is both positive and negative.
    More later…

    • @ Kings, you are spot on!
I dont recall ever having an MP by that name before 2011 elections for Solwezi central.. Infact that seat had been occupied by UPND. This guy in my view is quiet new but very very innovative. He isn’t an attention seeker as other CNPs would want us to believe. I know GRZ has planned big for this road but need to expedite their process in turning this economically important road into dual… Surely Solwezi deserves a better status than currently obtaining.

  10. Keeping a record of history is critical. MMD found nearly all the trunk (provincial) roads completely gone. Just as the PF is doing, the MMD embarked on a massive road rehabilitation programme to resurface Chingola-Solwezi, Lusaka-Kabwe-Kapiri-Ndola-Kitwe, Lusaka-Mongu-Senanga-Limulunga, Lusaka-L/stone-Sesheke, Lusaka-Chipata etc. The state of roads MMD found was much much worse than what the PF found after MMD rule. Both Presidents of MMD and PF had been in the UNIP govt and in all the governments since independence.

  11. Mulusa you are just wating your time man. What did the MMD do to upgrade the Chingola -Solwezi road.Where were you when the road was deteriorating during the time the MMD was in power? Please dont mislead the people.I am sure Chingola-Solwezi will be rehabilitated as soon as possible. You should also ask the Engineers what is involved in procuring, tendering and appointing of contractors for such an important road.Chingola -Solwezi road is not a township road that any contractor can be given to work on.I am sure the Engineers are working behind doors to find an acceptable long lasting intervention for this road. Please stop cheating people about this road.Where have you been all this while?Nonsense!!!

    • You’re right. Mulusa want to been seen as if he cares for the people of North Western Province. If he cared for the people he would have acted positively. He thinks the Government should just be printing money or steal the money to develop Zambia at once, or put cheap paved road which does not meet the condition of heavy trucks
The money which was stolen by some unfaithful MMD government senior leaders could have been used for such projects. MMD is the party that is trying to stop PF government to prosecute the leaders who stole so that we can recover the money and use it on projects. Hon. Kalusa should have thought about it before starting a nonsense protest walk. A double carriage way has been planned for this vital road.

  12. Levy rejected because kavindele was wasting time to start the project. Infact his vision was to see that the rail line reached Angola before the tenenure of his office.
The rail line in fact is government responsibility. That is how Levy looked at it and not kavindele who is interested in his pocket. Lucky is a performer. I know him from the time he worked as Auditors with ZCF. A very frank guy. His bosses knew him to be fearless.
What kind of performance do you want from him. He must have tried his best but out of frustration he took it to a walkt to meet the people on the ground. The only thing I do not agree with him is the issue of subsidy. As an accountant he should have looked at this issue differently.

    • Doing things out of frustration can be costly. Hon Kulusa had he taken time to analyze wisely the impact the walk protest will yield and whether the protest was justified he could not have done the walk protest. He could be frank and fearless, but acted unwisely. The kind of performance we are looking in him and other MPs to do is to get Chingola-Solwezi road paved. It is un acceptance that the government has refused to pave the road. Has the government refused to pave the road? The MP is suppose to keep asking until the road is done. Exercising due diligence in convincing Sata & the government to pave the road is a must. It is not enough to say the government has refused. The job has to be done.

  13. I thought Mulusa became MP in 2011? How then was he quiet as an MP during the MMD’s days in power? Get your facts correct. After Tetamashimba’s death, a Watson Lumba won the election until 2011 when Mulusa was given the mandate.

  14. Mulusa has managed to bring attention to the issues of subsidies and the Chingola Solwezi road. Rosa Parks by refusing to give up her seat for a white lady on a bus jump started the Civil Rights movement in the USA. Mulusa is Zambia’s Rosa Parks.
