Evans Kangwa made a dream return to the Zambia national team after scoring in their 2-0 win over Botswana in a 2014 CHAN qualifier at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The win sees Zambia advance 3-1 on aggregate to the final second qualifying phase of the 2014 CHAN finals.
Zambia dominated a goalless first half but were blunt in attack through both front men Bornwell Mwape and Festus Mbewe.
However , Mbewe made up for his poor finishing when he put Zambia ahead after he heading in a chip from Kondwani Mtonga in the 49th minute.
Meanwhile, Mwape was eventually withdrawn in the 62nd minute for Evans Kangwa who looked sharper than the Nchanga Rangers man as Zambia’s smelt goal number two.
But it was Botswana who were unfortunate not to find the target when in the 68th minute when Tshireletso shot hit the woodwork but Munyau reacted quickly to save Zambia from conceding a delicate home goal.
Botswana were later reduced to 10-men after defender Obuile Nncenga was sent off for dissent to see this first round’s second red card after Alex Ngonga for Zambia took an early shower in the 1-1 first leg on July 27.
Zambia made sure of the win in the 78th minute when Kangwa sneaked- in on the near post to turn in a pass from Mukuka Mulenga.
Herve Renard’s side now awaits the overall winner of Sunday’s first round tie between Zimbabwe and Mauritius.
Zimbabwe head into the home leg at Rufaro Stadium in Harare enjoying a 3-0 lead from the first leg played on July 28.

We are still blunt in attack when are we going to learn that HR will NEVER add that clinical finish to our attack.
Wake up people!!
Just go and watch Cricket
You’re always negative jayjay. Do you ever celebrate a zambian win?
Gazi what a punishment you suggest! You know watching cricket is like watching paint dry.lol
@Jay Jay, what were scores in cricket? Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka
is it true ati Sakeni passed on or anamwalila?
No Sakeni can’t die, why? And not when Sata is away.
what a poor peformance from our lads.
when are we going to outshine these minnows the chitalu, bernard chanda, zambani sailota, gibbon chewe, obby kapita, patrick phiri, michael chabala, boniface malitoli, simon kaushi, lee kamona, alex chola, monday mulenga, jack chanda, peter kaumba ways? if i may ask.
these chaps are quickly becoming are bore to watch.
only bakamushi, who never watched real zambian footbal will even have the audacity of recommending such mediocre performances we have been subjected to of late, by this tactless coach.
struggling with botswana…
mature, stop leaving in the past. those names never won us an African cup of nations. its all near misses. you recall the 1974 zaire vs zambi and 1982 zambia vs Tunisia and 1994 Nigeria vs Zambia. even with great names of bakalu! we never so any trophy not even the east &southern africa cup. so baane shift your thinking and love the moment. stop living in the past. when I was young I thought my parents house was very big alas 30 yrs down the line its the smallest of all houses and I wonder how:-)we survived and grew up in a tin-pot. get a life bamature!
WE HAVE A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB PLAYING IN DZIMBABWE
Iwe Mature, you are just ranting.Did you watch the game? Come on, just appreciate, that was our third string team.
CAS…
dont start please…
we all have watched our beautiful game of ‘sunka tuleya’ being raped by your so called renard ‘right, left and centre’ but are all watching.
i will forgive you cause you hardly know any of those yesteryear players listed above.
..ooh gosh how i cherish those days when we would wallop teams like malawi 11-0,
lesotho 13-0, botswana 12-0, zimbabwe 9-0 etc.
dont argue, you were not there…
Well-done Zambia, never mind ishilu #1.
Well done chipolopolo but the game was very difficult to watch on television. I could hardly see the ball. The repalys are pathetic and far apart. What really is the problem ba ZNBC? Do we have people on salary in this department? What really is the problem? Please can someone explain? We cannot be sending such quality of broadcasting to the entire world. Mind you, many countries are interested in Zambian soccer and that in itself is a product we can sell. Whoever is responsible, please correct this situation. In this time and age, no, no no, this is totally unacceptable.
Another observation. Bornwell Mwape is too selfish with his play. On several occasions he shoots for goal from impossible angles when the easiest thing to do is give the ball to an oncoming striker. His inclusion in the team needs to be looked at seriously. Maybe be should start from the bench. I am looking forward to seeing Mudenda in the Chipolopolo line up.
Znbc, u must be serious with yo cameras. To me u are still using the same which were used in the 80s.You are a let down. How much does it cost to buy morden ones? Nevertheless, congrates boys!
in 80s we used to watch clear TV, you are lost. Maybe they ZNBC where using cameras on laptops or cell-phone, those are the modern ones.
U are very correct it was poor lighting on znbc. Get Gotv next time u get quality pixes there.
Can someone advise Innocent Kalaluka (the ZNBC match commentator) to stop pronouncing “wele” when a goal is scored. I think it’s not being professional.
@Mushota, very funny! A bullet is to Zebra as a Zebra is to bullet. Now embalm the carcases and ship to Zambeef – what a kill. No contest there!
