MINISTER of Justice Wynter Kabimba says there is nothing strange about Zambia’s relations with countries that are looked down upon by the West.
Mr Kabimba, who is also Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general, said as a sovereign state, Zambia has the right to decide which countries to relate with.
He said this on Saturday night on Muvi TV when one of the viewers expressed concern on Zambia’s relations with countries like North Korea, Sudan, Cuba and China.
Mr Kabimba said people who are criticising Zambia’s relations with such countries are actually ignorant about Zambia’s history.
“We have had diplomatic relations with Palestine, for example, since 1978 and North Koreans are not devils as is portrayed by the Western media,” Mr Kabimba said.
He said countries being referred to as “rogue” are actually well-placed to help Zambia.
“Cuba is making her own ARVs when here we have to wait to be given free of charge. So what is wrong with relating with such a country,” Mr Kabimba wondered.
He said it is better to relate with countries that have had similar challenges with Zambia than those that are 700 years ahead.
The fact that you’re calling them “rogue states” says that you’re acknowledging their outlier status which is not far from PF’s own rogue-ish rule with lack of rule of law.
Don’t be a puppet of the west. They have colonized your mind for far too long. Free yourself!!

If anyone, I am sure it is people like you (and Kabimba!) who still suffer from co-called colonial mentality to believe that ANYTHING against the west is somehow good for Africa. Western countries like America and its Allies will bring you the following:
(1) NGOS i.e AVAP, FODEP,NGOCC,TRANSPARENT INTERNATIONAL, OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTIES ETC through funding so that you waste time arguing and sorting out each other. They will come latter as peace keepers.
China will do the following for you.
(1) Construct roads
(2) Build stadiums
(3) Build hospitals
(4) Rail line etc.

Rogue states are known for totalitarianism, no free press, no free press. Its criminal to own phones, use internet and anything which may lead to civilization. Why are people so surprised and upset with Winter’s remarks? He is merely repeating what his rogue President asked him to say. Sata and PF have not proper friends in the international circles. So they have like Mugabe settled for the ‘crumbs.’ Sata is only implementing what he learnt during the UNIP era and what he sees Mugabe do. Is it alignment with certain countries tht makes it develop?No,S/korea,USA & evn China ve imensely developd due to high investment in SMEs & technology advancement.About 70-80% anual GDP fr these countries arise frm this industry.The industry is highly developd & such tht evn the modern concepts of entrepreneurship worldover re being emulated frm these countries.Its not asociation or alignment tht develops a country.Aftr al evn the west re Zambia’s partners in development.Except we ve gone furthr to acomodate these othr countries.
