PF ups the ante to have ECZ top management replaced

Share

The ruling Patriotic (PF) is Lusaka District has backed calls by various stakeholders to have the senior top management of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) step down.

The PF leadership in the District has suggested that this will be the only way credibility can be restored to the commission following its alleged failure to evoke the Electoral ACT promptly.

The alleged failure to evoke the electoral ACT relates to barring of candidates who did not legally qualify to participate in the September 5th Malambo, Mulobezi and Petauke Central Parliamentary by-elections.

PF Lusaka District chairperson Goodson Banda says the ECZ has also demonstrated biasness to postpone the filing in of nominations of candidates for the Malambo, Mulobezi and Petauke Central Parliamentary by-elections.

Mr. Banda has observed that the postponement of the filing in of nominations for the three by-elections has only favored the opposition as it is evident that their candidates would have not legally qualify to take part in the by-election after section 104 of the Electoral Act was evoked.

Mr. Banda has also observed that the abrupt postponement of the filing in of nominations for the three parliamentary by-elections cost a lot of resources which some political parties like the ruling PF had spent to have its candidates’ credentials filed in to participate in the by-elections.

And Mr. Banda has reiterated the need of PF youths not to attempt to engage in violent acts during the campaigns in the four constituencies where the September 5th by-elections will take place.

Mr. Banda notes that the youths should instead use the PF manifesto in campaigns to allow electorates freely accept such messages in a peaceful atmosphere.

The PF Lusaka District chairperson was speaking to Qfm in an interview.

  1. who the fucck does PF think it is?? bafika-colour iwe you want take zambia has if it is personal belongings bafika-colour come 2016 you will see….

  2. You wanted to take the seats on a silver plate after ambushing the opposition parties by vetting their candidates at the last minute.

Changes can be made to top management in any Zambian Department, but this will not change the prevailing mood of the Zambian people on how they see lies be perpetrated on everyday basis.

    • Agony is waiting in the opposition for 10 years, be booted out from Government after 2 and go into extinction thereafter.

Worse is to spend the rest of your remaining miserable days on the earth in Jail.

  3. Banda is confusion itself. The ECZ have complied with regulations by postponement of polls to allow all participating political parties and individuals a fair chance to field legally qualified people. What is wrong with that, and how is the opposition favoured? PF must ensure that they issue measured press statements. You are letting us down bane. If you are tired, leave room for us to lead the party with President Sata. Musazibvuta boma.

  4. @Gundixy, from Osmore’s previous contributions, one can safely say he doesnt have the capacity to give you a coherent answer to the question you posed. Safe to say that Osmore is of the lumpen species. Low on substance but high on cadre mentality.

  5. everyone makes mistakes lets give them a benefit of doubt.E.C.Z are controlled by people who can make a mistake. even if you bring new people remember that one day there are going to make a mistake.

  6. 7. Goodson Banda needs to go to School to understand some of the basic things. Even Grade 4 material seems to be too much for him to comprehend.

Politicians and Cadres will not dictate to us the course that this Country should take.

  8. Ba pf u wanted ur candidates to go thru unopposed, ECZ is right to give the opposition time to come up with other candidates.

  9. Time is not on the side of PF. THEY CANT BELIEVE THEY HAVE 2 YRS TO WALLOWW IN POVERTY AGAIN .RUNING TO NTEMBA AGAIN. By the way PVT is on board.

  10. Its obvious the PF is really desperate. To win at all costs. But then in a competition, there are winners and losers. Losers should be magnanimous and accept defeat graciously. The antics being instigated by the PF in castigating the ECZ board on intimidation and scare tactics. Threatening dismissal due performing ones work diligently is the most profound abuse of office one can come across. For goodnesake, Lungu and kabimba should know better. PF lost period..they should up the ante at keeping the promises made instead of victimising innocent hard working individuals who are doing their best in a very uncomfortable environment were government and party thuggism seem to be intertwined. Leave ECZ alone. Let them do their work correctly. Any threats or underhand methods undermines cred

  11. ECZ has obviously waken up after realising that the opposition can win elections. They are already afraid to lose their jobs should the opposition gain power. But this time, their slumber came at a wrong time. The ruling party felt the pinch of the ECZ slumber. Heads may roll. Can ACC pick a leaf from the ECZ experience. One day the PF as a ruling party will also be bitten by the slumber of ACC–I can assure you, Hon. Kabimba will visit you with dismisal letters for “sleeping”. The oppposition is becoming bold and the ruling party is also slowly but surely realising that the “boma ni boma” attitude is being challenged. While PF may be enjoying a lot of support from “kaponyas” the “kaponya” mentality (insults, thuggery, attacks, blocking rallies) is chasing people away.
