FINANCE Minister Alexander Chikwanda has said Government is targeting to accelerate diversified agriculture development in Western Province by focusing on fish, cashew and rice farming.

The minister was speaking during a high level economic exchange dialogue with Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta in Lusaka yesterday.

“The people of Western Province are very hard working and resourceful which is why we want the community development plans under your leadership to succeed by giving you the necessary logistical support,” he said.

According to a statement released by Ministry of Finance public relations officer Chileshe Kandeta, Mr Chikwanda also congratulated the Senior Chief for his appointments as a Board Member of Peace Parks International and for establishing the Inyambo Development Trust.

He stated that the initiative to create the Inyambo Development Trust had exemplified Senior Chief Inyambo Yetas’ vision, passion and commitment to development in Zambia.

“Economic exchange dialogues such this one, cement relations across the width and breadth of the country, and facilitate performance benchmarking, as success in one part has a positive social demonstration effect on other parts of Zambia,” eulogized Mr. Chikwanda.

The Minister commended the Barotse Royal Establishment for the visionary leadership which had resulted in the setting-up of sustainable community development projects in Mwandi and Sesheke Districts, by Senior Chief Yeta.

“This is a good coincidence because a few days ago I was in Chilubi Island where a project for cage fish farming is being piloted, going forward, Zambians should not behave as if development will last a fortnight but aim at sustainable approaches which have the potential for large scale production, employment, and wealth creation.

“We shall forever remain indebted to your unitary and visionary leadership not only for the development of western province, but the nation at large,” Mr Chikwanda said.

The Senior Chief described Sesheke and Mwandi Districts in Western Province as tourist destinations key components to Livingstone, the co-host city of the United Nations Word Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly.

He disclosed that a joint programme called SIMALAHA Community Conservancy has been introduced in partnership with Chief Sikute to create a wildlife park aimed at empowering the local people through shared community wildlife resources.

“We are in the process of producing an integrated tourism product that is going to attract tourists and create opportunities for wealth creation for our people. In fact the Zambian Government, through the Minister of Tourism [Sylvia Masebo] has already granted authority for ZAWA to supply seed animals to the conservancy,” said Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta.

SIMALAHA Community Conservancy is located on an important eco-tourism corridor and is part of the larger Kavango – Zambezi (KAZA) Trans Frontier.

The Chief revealed that most community based projects under his chiefdom in Mwandi and Sesheke Districts were being spearheaded by the Inyambo Development Trust to foster transparency and accountability.

He said the Zambian Government had helped the Trust by supporting projects like the Mwandi Cultural Center; work in progress aimed at constructing a pavilion at which, once completed, numerous artifacts, pictures, carvings, basketry, performing arts, and other ancient valuables will be displayed to visitors and tourists.

“We are also in the process of establishing the 5 Star Mwandi Royal Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River and rehabilitating the Silowana [Sioma] National Park, which project the Government has engaged peace parks foundation to ensure a sustained rehabilitation and wildlife restocking programme,” said Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta.

“The Inyambo Development Trust has also embarked on a fish restocking programme to curb nomadic and excessive fishing,” he said.

He disclosed that the Inyambo Development Trust had received support from cooperating partners to construct a fish farm which had the potential to produce six hundred thousand [600, 000] pure breed fish fingerings, per annum.

“Through this programme, we are able to provide 27 tons of fish protein per annum at competitive prices. Our objective is to construct more dams so that we flood the Zambian market with pure breed bream fish fingerings,” he said.

    • why now?,, there should be the same plans for all provinces anounced at the same time.. if you want to true to one zambia, one nation!!… this is why i call for wisdom in your PF leadership!… what your PF is trying to do now is to buy silence in barosteland which does not solve the problem..
This issue of complaining can go to other provinces if you develop western provinces and neglent others

    • The Barotse agreement has better & easier plans than those SIDO, safari is old-fashion.
Why not just start with the simplest football stadium?
Next weekend Zambia vs Zimbabwe could have been in Mongu. People would have been selling fritas, maheu, Kachasu, Masuku, fried fish etc, there will be more trade than selling hats and baskets to tourists at UNWTO of Masebo.

    • @ What a Life: Your PF has been planning since 2001. We didn’t vote for planners. Even a mad bum in the streets has plans.

    • I was only joking. I really do not know what I am taking about. i guess I have had enough of blogging. It’s time to take a break. Bye guys. I will see you after a month. I need to care for my family and not waste time glued to the monitor day in day out. Let the new Notradamus take over

    • Hey Ndobo it is not the flag. It is the DOBO you smoke. Like me you have been too long on the laptop and now you are seeing double images. Take a break as well. Let’s turn our attention to our family. That’s the only way you can fix your vision.

    • @Ndobo, Ku Cananda kwafuma ama haters twacula Bashi Mwaba. Some people even get bothered by consistency?
I just hope its not “Nine Chale”, he used to be popular in MMD times.
Then 3 boys died in Canada a year ago, may- their-souls-rest-in-peace.

  1. They are now feeling the heat.Balozi open your eyes . They said all these sweet things during the campaigns in 2011. This is Bufi.Once beaten?

    • mukaise buhata!!
is it linyungandombo pressure or is it genuine?? dont outline more lies again, tell people this you can do!! not dochi kubeba

  2. Chikwanda should be careful with yeta.

Zambian government can do whatever they want, but these guys will make sure the BA64 is not compromised.

Chikwanda should know that these people cannot be cheated, they follow what the people say. doing good things to yeta means doing good things to an individual, not as a chief.

Yeta is the same guy who insisted that the BNC be converged, and during their privy meeting, he was radical in ensuring that an update on mutual separation be accererated.

Honestly, how do you go to yeta and ignore the prima facie case seating in the AU.

Zambia never learns indeed, and yeta must be amazed in his heart. please be chikwanda, read how the barotse government system runs, you are wasting time with this guy.

  3. Yeta looks to be a better seniour chief than mpezeni.
mr chief, just make sure that pf honours their promise. make sure too the seperatists don’t succeed. one zambia one nation, barotseland included.

    • He used to be our Minister of State in my Ministry. He is a University of Edinburgh Law degree graduate.

    • Say what you want to say about Mpezeni but what you should know is that Ngoni’s will always be better than the Lozi’s….Ask any tribe other Lozi, they would prefer to mix with a Ngoni other than self-centred Lozi’s….Morever he is a Paramount Chief so Yeta is millions junior to Mpenzeni whom even Jacob Zuma + King Muswati pay courtesy call…

    • Hahahahahahahha, Ndobo 5.1 and Ndobo 5.4 seem to be two different guys, otherwise, am flatered in the name of peace, hahahahahahahhaha.

    • I am disappointed with your comments natolefye brothers from Northern and Muchinga. You buffoons seem very worried about Barotseland why the panic whether its restoration or break-away what do you lose?

  4. is thids the Litunga or under the Litunga one of the chiefs in Western province. How can such a nice man fall for the PF Bufi????

is it a question of what happened even on the Copperbelt and Lusaka???

  5. Cessation is out of the question. Decentralisation is key, once done all these young men talking about cessation will stop as they will be busy with work.

The challenge we have now in Zambia and not just the Western Province is the high numbers of youths roaming the streets and doing nothing. Wasn’t it only the other day that the same young men were promised Jobs as Policemen and Soldiers. The young men in western province just want Jobs.

    • This is a chance we have lost really. I wrote over two and half years back, during the heat of the Rupiah Banda – led MMD government attrocities in Barotseland that rather than seeing the BA64 as a tool for the separation of Barotseland, it was a tool for devolution of power to the people. But what did the self important citizenry of Zambia do? They rubbished the BA64, ridiculed and insulted those who hold on to it as the promise for a better future. These are the youth of Barotseland who refuse to condone the treachery and cowardise of its elders. mark these words, you aint seen nothing yet.

  6. TALK ALL YOU WANT, DEVELOPMENT IS COMING TO WESTERN PROVINCE. I KNOW THE OPPOSITION REALLY WISH IT DOESN’T COME TO COME TO PASS SO THEY CAN HAVE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT, UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM PF IS IMPLEMENTING WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO AND IT IS SLOWLY UNFOLDING BEFORE EVERYONE’S EYES. PF HAS ACHIEVED MORE IN ONE AND HALF YRS COMPARED TO MMD’S 20 YRS. SLOWLY BUT SURELY WE ARE GETTING THERE. THOSE THAT OWN BUSINESSES LIKE HH WILL TELL YOU THAT IT TAKES TIME FOR ANYTHING GOOD TO TAKE ROOT, IT’S A GAME OF PATIENCE. SO GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT’S DUE.

    • ***** what achievements? If you are benefiting just enjoy otherwise we are coming with impunity to chuck you out in 2016

    • @ NDOBO. WHY ARE YOU GETTING WAKED UP, I KNOW THE TRUTH HURTS. PEOPLE CAN THROW TANTRUMS MARCH, AND DO AND SAY ALL THEY WANT, THE TRUTH REMAINS – PF IS PERFORMING. WE CANNOT ALL AGREE ON ONE DEVELOPMENT PLAN BUT THE FACT IS THAT WORKS ARE UNDER WAY.

    • PF is for sure doing its best to ensure everyone has a cake of the nation. It takes a reasonably thinking man/woman to appreciate what the PF government is doing. Not everyone can be pleased at the same time!! Non of the governments in my time,(including UNIP which had inherited so much monies) has worked so had like the PF in 2.5yrs. Let us learn to give credit were it is due!!

    • @development
i know you are one of the people who voted for PF and you have been disapointed by their under perfomance and yet so sharp on the mouth.you are just tryn to comfort yourself and sympathise with yourself.wic development are you talking about?Sata after being voted in by the people of western province hes neva evn sayd thank u and after lien to them hes neva evn sayd sory so wat are u tokn abt?development just shut up.

    • @development..
am not `waken up`.. whatever you mean am not, your PF development is based on lies and `washautis` from courts of law

    • @Development your pf just barks all the time. if anything Inyambo hhas started all the work already. pf has no money because all the money has gone to muchinga.

  7. Litunga Has Not Requested For Police Re-Enforcement at Lealui, Zambian Government Must Apologize – Barotse Royal Establishment
    Published on Tuesday, 20 August 2013 14:25 | Written by The Online Editor | | | Hits: 754

The Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has refuted allegations by government suggesting that His Majesty the Litunga, Lubosi Imwiko II requested for the police re-enforcement at the Lealui palace in the wake of unfolding events in the region.

In a press statement broadcast on Oblate Radio Liseli last evening, Induna Inete, Akapelwa Silumbu said it is a taboo to implicate the Litunga in any form of issues explaining that the Litunga is never quoted.

The traditional leader who was accompanied by Induna Mutwaleti, Induna Mubonda and Induna Nambayo, said the govern

  8. Say what you want to say about Mpezeni but what you should know is that Ngoni’s will always be better than the Lozi’s….Ask any tribe other Lozi, they would prefer to mix with a Ngoni other than self-centred Lozi’s….

    • I am Ngoni and my best friend is a Lozi. In life you don’t go around befriending a tribe or looking around to fall in love with a tribe. Normal people usually make friends or fall in love with INDIVIDUALS they get along with. And these INDIVIDUALS are not REPRESENTATIVES of their tribes. You must be a very weird person to even think of going around to ask people who they prefer to ‘mix’ with. Where did you grow up my dear? You seem to be a very primitive and uncivilised human being.
The criticism of my Ngoni paramount chief is not a criticism of me or Ngonis. Neither is the criticism of Sata, Litunga or Kazembe the criticism of Bisas, Lozis, or Lundas. Get out more my brother. Sir, Isn’t this rant of yours a reflection of your own ‘SELF CENTREDNESS’ ? In my book it is!

    • YOU ***** YOU ARE JUST SOME SMALL TRIBE THAT RUN AWAY FROM THE SHAKA WARS,WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE??
THE ZULUS IN SA ARE SO AMAZED YOU ARE BUSY CLAIMING THAT YOUY ARE RELATED WHEN THEY DONT EVEN KNOW YOU.
JUST LEAVE IN YOUR DREAM WORLD MY DEAR LOZIS ARE SELFMADE ANF RULED AN AREA BIGGER THAN FRANCE TILL 1964.
IF SHAKA WAS YOUR RELATIVE CAN HE CHASE YOU ALL THE WAY FROM SOUTH TILL YOU STOPPED IN POOR EATERN PROVINCE??
      YOU ARE DULL.
BE REAL THE ZULUS DONT KNOW YOU,YOU ARE JUST ONE OF THE MANY NGUNI TRIBES WHICH HEARD SHAKA WAS EXPANDING AND RUN AWAY AFRAID OF BEING LYNCHED.

    • Quiet foolish, there! – LT, it is dangerous to encourage people who aren’t good at thinking to think, if you do it won’t well. One thing I have come to learn is all tribes are people with brains smaller than a mustered seed. These are people who have never anywhere else other than where they were born. I am a Lozi man happily married to a beautiful Bemba from Kasama. I have seen any tribalism from her family and has never been subject to any tribalism. In fact I have more relatives married to Other tribes and we have never this ugly animal called tribalism.
When did we start representing our tribes just by belonging to that tribe? Actually no one owns a tribe. Ngoni does not belong to you, moron. It belongs to Zambia and all the world. Learn to think with head and not your behind.

  9. The running commentary promises by Chikwanda can only remind the Lozis of unfulfilled 90 day promises of Sata before elections to woo votes from western province. After elections rhetorical statements were met with declaration of state of emergency and arrests of poor citizens in the province. In turn to pacify Lozis were given a promise to build a stadium out of all development needs. What a shocker, who needs a stadium in western province, were people consulted to be the most needful development in Mongu? Now Chikwanda is at promises again as if previous promises have come to any thing. You can only get two things when a Bemba makes a promise, BUFI (lies) and theft (UBUKABOLALA).

  10. To improve our inconomy, sir please spend mach on farming and by doing that Zambians wil have jobs, how? When processing the goods, when doing the farm works.

  11. There are a number of projects done by PF government in its little time of office.Within 5 yrs,the nation will get back were it belong.

  12. Under pressure PF under pressure!! More lies! some are lying! some are hiding! “singing Nigerians song” .

  13. A finance minister is supposed to be a technocrat! Don’t know what qualification Chikwanda has, he behaves like a senior cadre, lying, visionless and he can’t advise the president on anything! What a dull finance minister!

  14. Is it true that it is lies? How long has western province stayed without those things PF is planning for the province. Why the hate for PF? Zambia is big, not only one province is under developed. All provinces may except LSK and C/B. Why didn’t MMD did that in 20yrs and then you expect PF to do it in 2yrs? PF has it’s own flows. By the way, W/p is not special!

  15. Thank you PF government for going for the most dignifield choice of restoring the peace in our beloved country, this is how it should be, there must be a difference btwn a fool and a wise man, there is a saying in Bemba which implies that, if you want to grab back your sweet from a chicken, you do it calmly, sorry my Bemba is not very “profound” but am sure you get my point.
The people only ask for one thing……. a better life, this sorted out you will have done away with war, riots, corruption ect. Now for ya all asking querries i say lets lay low and support this move, this should spread to all provinces in due time for i know it is a very costly venture for our country but a golden investment.

    • @cindy
what happened to our one zambia, one nation??,, i thought this development plan/s must go to all provinces especially those under developed provnices (this should not only go to western province, that is bribery in order for the noise to go away and its NOT right)

or does it mean that western province is the only province which did not have a plan?? thats why they are anouncing now??

    • I dont think it’s bribery and it’s not true that Western province is the only chimbwi no plan province, hehehehehehe kidding there…, otherwise, things are very tense right now, its better to handle it dicisively, you know they say ” desperate times call for desperate measures, so if that means it’s the only way to help the situation why not in the name of One Zambia one nation, without that other line ” one leader and that leader Dr ………, again kidding with the leader line…, i think it would trigger very significant development in our province, have you seen the documentary Zambezi? i was shocked to hear that western province is the least developed in Zambia, which am sure will change drastically under Sata, that i can assure you for he is thirsty to prove all them critics…

  16. Waiting to see how much it takes to get you to forget what you set out for (BRA). Surprised that some people can’t see the cheap ruse here.

  17. I wonder what it is that prevents leaders from sorting the Barotse issue once and for all. Is it too complicated to understand? Just why do the parties concerned keep this loud silence about a thing like this? Many people are fed up with this thing and wants closure, but it seems there’s nobody mature enough to take the initiative and sort it out for good. Why? Meanwhile it is simmering and smoldering until it inevitably snowballs into something big. Are we going to allow that to happen?

  18. @ Kalinda

Don’t reduce yourself to Shaka Zulu’ level, be calm and understand that s.t.u.p.i.d.i.t.y is part of human diversity. don’t even start by belittling a single tribe in Zambia or any ethnic group in the world. every tribe, race, ethnic group is unique in its own way and most importantly Our difference make us stronger. sometimes do not even waste time digesting postings of low lifes’. Shaka Zulu or whatever he calls himself.. his zygote mind/opinions and low level thinking does not at any point reflect the views of other Ngonis’ or any level headed thinking Ngoni/other tribes, please do not at any point argue or post your issues on tribal line. Thank you

  19. One good thing about Lozi people is that they are easy to cheat, very obedient and forgetful. Tell them what they want to hear, they forget the ‘matter at hand’. I am thankful to God that I was born a Bemba which is why I am a WINNER ALWAYS!

  20. Good afternoon

That’s the way to go. It is much better to unite and develop our nation together than to be drawn back by divisions.

And while you’re carrying out the development plan, please don’t forget to add value to the fish, cashew and rice – which is a crucial precondition for industrial growth and job creation in the province.

  21. @Muchinga Boy :”…that they are easy to cheat, very obedient and forgetful”, So you think. Otherwise the opposite is true. The Kololos from S. Africa ruled Barotseland for more than 30 years, but the Lozis were able to make a successful comeback. For 27 years Kaunda tried to eclipsed the Barotseland Agreement issue by using his “One Zambia One Nation” slogan . He did not succeed. The BA 64 is still stirring at us all to this day. Britain’s representative, Lochner, proved it to his shame that Lozis were not the easy type to cheat.

  22. I know litia, Mbwangwanta, mwangala, muntita, nawimba, etc all are Yeta,’s. I hope my friend litia will be part of this ddevelopoment

  23. Lozis r selfish, stingy and greedy, they r nat willin 2 share anythin wit anybdy who isn’t tonga,as cn b seen by their stupid intentions of breakin away 4rm zambia they r even worse than tongas

    • YOU ARE AN ***** .YOU MUCHINGA PEOPLE YOU ARE NOTHING BUT BUNCH OF THIEVES PLUNDRERING OUR RESOUCES YOUR TIME IS COMING YOU WILL BE FLUSHED OUT SOON.YOU HAVE ALREADY STARTED FIGHTING FOR PRESIDENCY SHAME ON YOU MWE BA NA TOLA FYE

  24. Lozis r selfish, stingy and greedy, they r nat willin 2 share anythin wit anybdy who isn’t tonga,as cn b seen by their stupid intentions of breakin away 4rm zambia they r even worse than tongas, tho the women r good in bed

  25. Woa, I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS CHIEF FOR PRESIDENT. EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM IS SO PRESIDENTIAL. REMEMBER IF IT IS NOT GOOD INSIDE, IT IS MOSTLY NOT GOOD INSIDE.
